        Hydrothermal synthesis and application of Ho<sup>3+</sup>-activated NaYbF<sub>4</sub> bifunctional upconverting nanoparticles for <i>in vitro</i> cell imaging and latent fingerprint detection

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The Ho<SUP>3+</SUP>-activated NaYbF<SUB>4</SUB> upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) were synthesized <I>via</I> a facile hydrothermal method and characterized by X-ray diffraction pattern, transmission electron microscope image and upconversion (UC) emission spectrum. Upon the excitation of 980nm light, the as-prepared UCNPs exhibited bright green and red UC emissions corresponding to the (<SUP>5</SUP>F<SUB>4</SUB>,<SUP>5</SUP>S<SUB>2</SUB>) → <SUP>5</SUP>I<SUB>8</SUB> and <SUP>5</SUP>F<SUB>5</SUB> → <SUP>5</SUP>I<SUB>8</SUB> transitions of Ho<SUP>3+</SUP> ions, respectively. The cell toxicity test result revealed that the synthesized UCNPs possessed remarkable low cytotoxicity. With the introduction of the resultant UCNPs into the HeLa cells, intense green and red UC emissions were observed, indicating that the HeLa cells can be labeled by the obtained UCNPs and they had potential application in live cell imaging. Additionally, the practicality of the resultant UCNPs for latent fingerprint was also systematically investigated.         Liquid Metal Embrittlement of Resistance Spot Welded 1180 TRIP Steel: Effect of Electrode Force on Cracking Behavior

        Liquid metal embrittlement (LME) caused cracking of Galvanized transformation induced plasticity steels was investigatedduring resistance spot welding (RSW). Effect of electrode force (3–5 kN) for a weld time of 400, and 800 ms on crack resistanceof TRIP steel was examined in relation to LME phenomenon. The microstructural characteristics of spot weld jointsand LME cracking tendency were investigated using dye penetration tests, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopytogether with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. It was found that as the electrode force increases, the crack size decreasesdue to a fast increase in crack tip temperature which rises further with more holding time up to 800 ms in high temperaturezone. Least amount of crack size was observed at 5 kN electrode force and 400 ms of welding time. Finally, the experimentalresults have also been simulated by finite element modeling (FEM) to find suitable mechanism of crack formation, and acombination of 4 kN and 400 ms was suggested for the crack free and less thermal deformation in the spot welded TRIP steel.

        응급진료시 여성환자의 소변검체 채취방법

        Background: Urinalysis is a useful laboratory test in the diagnosis of various diseases. In sampling for the urinalysis, there is much concern about contamination that can lead to misdiagnosis in the mid-stream urine sampling method. We conducted this study to determine, in terms of concordance of results and contamination in culture, whether there was any superiority in nod-stream sampling methods with or without disinfection measures compared to the catheterization method. Materials and Methods: We used three kinds of urine sampling methods sequentially, mid-stream non-clean catch, mid-stream clean catch, and catheterization, for ambulatory, non-pregnant, non-men-struating female patients who visited NHIC Ilsan Hospital emergency department during a one-week period in September 2001. Each sample was electrophotometrically analyzed for leukocyte esterase, nitrite, and blood by using a reagent strip and was cultured immediately or after overnight refrigeration. Results: Of the 41 patients, 9 had culture-proven urinary tract infections. The concordance rates(kappa) for nitrite, blood, and leukocyte esterase were 0.875, 0.403, and 0.406 between non-clean catch and catheterized samples and 0.875, 0.481, and 0.560 between clean catch and catheterized samples, respectively. The contamination rate of the non-clean catch, the clean catch, and the catheterized samples were statistically different: 51.2%, 29.3% and 0%, respectively. Conclusion: We found that cleaning with disinfectant was effective for reducing the contamination rate, even though the best urine sampling method for zero contamination was catheterization. We recommend considering cost, patients' comfort, an acceptable threshold for contamination, and the necessity for a culture before choosing a urine sampling method for women who visit the emergency department.

The above two complex are photochromic under steady illumination with visible light. very fast, than 1:2 complex. The photochemical stability of the complex in to luene solution to ultraviolet decrease in the order 1:2 complex > 1:1 complex.

        This paper presents an integrated machining error compensation without measuring cutting force in micro end-mill. To compensate machining error, we consider new tool path. In order to determine the compensated tool path, two machining error parameters are defined and modeled using the SEM images. Experiments are carried out to validate the approaches proposed in this paper. In result, we identify the proposed methods are effective to compensate for machining errors.

        For the investigation of the economics of mushroom(Lentinus erodes) cultivation in the oak bed- log, the items of production costs were examined. The results are as follows ; 1. Among the items of cultivation costs in the first year, the material bed-log cost(62.4% ) was the highest, then the labor cost was. 2. The labor costs for management(27.6-28.1%), bed-log handling(26.8-27.9% ) and mushroom harvesting(26.2-27.9%) were higher than the others from the 2nd year to the sixth year. 3. The gross income and the cultivation cost per one bed- log were 15,672 won and 3,170 won for six years. 4. For six years, the total net income was 12,500 won and the annual income was 2,080 won per one bed- log.

        The purpose of this study is to search for the theoretical and practical devices for the internalization of a value as an approach to the teaching method or strategy of the moral or ethical studies education. 'Value' as a determinant of all kinds of behavior is a philosophic idea. And some phychological or educational theories are fairly suggestive to the internalization of a value. So Many models of types as approaches to value education have been presented. Among these 'values clarification' is remarkable as a contemporary and heuristic approach. The theory of values clarification promises that we can assist people by helping them to clarify their values. If we succeed in clarifying them, the theory asserts that results will show up as changes in behavior. Clarifying Response and Value Sheet are typical strategies or devices for the values clarification. As a dialgue one the former is a response a teacher makes to something a student has said or done when the purpose is to encourage that student to do some extra thinking. As a writing one the latter is a device for bringing something worth getting clearer about to the attention of students in a nonthreatening and stimulating way. For the practical applications in the classroom, their frameworks and some examples are arranged respectively.

      • 졸-겔공정을 이용한 초고용량 캐패시터용 Nickel oxide 나노입자의 합성

        The Ni (OH)₂ nanoparticles with average diameter of 50 nm were synthesized by hydrolyzing nickel acetate with water, and were dispersed in the distilled water to prepare the coating solution. The electrodes for supercapacitor were prepared by dip-coating the coating solution on the Ni-foam. The electrodes heat-treated at several temperatures showed the highest specific capacitance, 160 F/g, at 250℃. It can be explained that the Ni(OH)₂ particles heat-treated at 100 and 200℃ on the electrodes contained the impurities such as acetate groups in the pores, and resulted in low specific surface areas. However, as the calcination temperature increases. the impurities incorporated in the pores are removed at 250℃, and thus, the particles on the electrodes show the highest specific surface area (177 ㎡/g).

        Broiler 雛(Pilch Line)에 Ethyl alcohol(E. A)을 給與시켜서 그 成長에 미치는 영향을 調査하기 위하여 本 實驗을 實施했으며, 各 實驗區는 對照區(C), E.A. 0.3%(T₁), E.A. 0.5(T₂), E.A 0.7% (T₃)로 나누고 各區에 各各 25首씩 配置하여 6週間의 增體量, 飼料利用率, 血液性狀, 斃死率等을 調査한 結果 그 成績에 있어서 약간의 變異는 있었지만 統計的인 有意差는 認定되지 않았다. This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of ethyl alcohol on the growth of chicks. The water was supplemented with 0, 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7% ethyl alcohol. Self-feeding method was taken and other feeding practices and management was according to the custom method. Twenty five broiler(Pilch Line) starting chicks were allowed in each treatment. Growth rate, feed utilization, blood picture and mortality were compared in the 4 treatments during 6 weeks. No significant differences in growth rate, feed utilization, blood picture and mortality were observed between the treatments. From the results of ethyl alcohol effect on the growth of starting chicks in the Journal of the Inrtitute for Agricultural Resource Utilization (1972: Chinju National Agri. College) and the present study, it was concluded that the supplement of ethyl alcohol in such a ratio and method was not effective to increase the growth rate or feed utilization of chicks.
