Subjectivity and the Human Condition in Tristram Shandy

The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman의 삶과 그의 사상은 로렌스 스턴(Laurence Sterne)이 이야기하는 인간의 상태이다. 이 소설은 사건보다는 인간의 내면에 대해 다루며 인간의 조건에 관한 묘사방법과 그에 대한 반응, 그리고 함축성을 주제로 삼고있다. 본고에서는 인간의 상태에서 가장 중요한 요소들 중 하나인 체험의 주관적 특성을 화자인 Tristram의 이야기를 통해 살펴보고 있다. 이 소설 속에서 객관적 실체의 환상은 붕괴되며 주관성은 개인의 삶을 어리석고, 타인과 소통이 어려운 특이한 것으로 만든다. 하지만 Tristram Shandy에서 주관성은 허무주의를 초래하는 것이 아니라 삶의 질과 가치를 높이는 수단이 될 가능성을 보여준다. 왜냐하면 주관성은 역동적인 삶의 과정 속에서 자신을 찾아나가는데 관련되어있기 때문이다. 또한 유머․사랑․상상력 그리고 동정심은 삶의 힘을 환기시키며 주관성으로 인해 야기될 수 있는 허무주의적 사상을 막아준다. 스턴은 유아론(唯我論)의 비극적 요소를 인간의 조건의 승리로 승화해서 표현하고 있다.

Anxiety and the Language Learner

Language-learning involves the learner in ego threats related to competence, performance, and personal value. Anxiety is the anticipation of or response to the various threats represented by the learning process and by membership in a community of learners. While a certain amount of anxiety can be beneficial to the process of language acquisition, each individual learner situates a particular task at a different point on the continuum between challenge and threat. If the task is perceived as a threat rather than a challenge, it inhibits the learner from success. Because the challenge/threat threshold varies from learner to learner, it is useful to examine the underlying causes of anxiety as it expresses itself in language learning. If we understand what factors influence the perception of a task as either challenge or threat for a particular learner, the teacher can respond more effectively to his or her needs in the learning process. Learner personality, motivations, attitudes, and identity all playa part in the development of learner ego and influence success or lack of success in second language acquisition. In addition, this paper contends that one of the major underlying factors in learner anxiety is, in fact, death anxiety. Because language learning engages the learner on so many levels, it involves potential intellectual, psychological, emotional, interpersonal, and cultural ego. threats that, while not leading to literal physical death, represent a kind of figurative death -threat that contributes to learner anxiety. To apply the theoretical discussion of anxiety to the practical realities of language-learning, this paper summarizes and discusses research that highlights correlations between personality. motivations, attitudes. and identity and levels of learner anxiety. Such research both allows us to come to a clearer understanding of the factors that influence learner anxiety and to discover avenues for further investigation. Above all, it emphasizes the uniqueness of every learner and the need for responsive and reflective teaching that strives to challenge but not to threaten.

치과용 예방지구가 금속 도재금관의 금속 표면조도에 미치는 영향

치과예방기구는 금관 변연의 표면을 파괴하여 치태의 축적을 돕거나 야기할 것이다. 본연구는 고금(RX Y), 저금 (Aspen), 은 팔라듐 (RX 91) 및 니켈-크롬 합금(REX Ⅲ)의 잘 연마한 금속원반 시편을 탐침, 스케일러, 큐렛 및 덴스플라이 캐비트론 기구로 표면을 긁ㅇ느 후 표면조도는 윤곽감지기로 측정하였다. 결관느 고금 합금이 표면파괴에 가장 저항이 낮으며 초음파 스케일러가 모든 금속 표면에 가장 큰 파괴를 가져왔다.

본문을 자세히 읽어보면 그녀의 실체물 판단이 객관적이 아닌 자신의 주관적인 잣대에 의해서만 이루어 졌다는 것을 알 수 있다. 가정교사는 Peter Quint와 Jessel 이 자신의 눈에 보인다고 하면서, 어떠한 실제적인 방법으로 그들을 형상화 하는 것은 아니지만 그들의 행위에 동기부여를 한다. 화자의 세밀한 묘사를 통해 The Turn of the Screw에서 Henry James는 가시적인 것의 해석에 있어서의 개인적인 주관성을 탐구하고 있다. This paper examines the relationship between sight and personal subjectivity in Henry James' The Turn of the Screw. In the narrative, the governess believes that the spirits of two deceased former servants are exerting an evil influence on Miles and Flora, the two children whom she has been hired to supervise. Her repeated sightings of Peter Quint and Miss Jessel, coupled with the children's puzzling behavior, convinces the governess that she must intervene to save Miles and Flora from corruption. Although many readers do not question the objective reality of what the governess sees and of how she interprets what she sees, a closer examination of the text reveals the extent to which her narrative embodies less a version of objective reality than of subjective personal experience. In fact, James continually calls his narrator's reliability into question when he has her not only "see" Peter Quint and Miss Jessel, but attribute motives to their actions that are simply not knowable in any objective way. These, among other, details of the narrative illustrate the way in which Henry James explores personal subjectivity through the capacity of sight in The Turn of the Screw.

한국인삼연초연구소, ¹USDA-ARS-R.B. Russell center 인삼 사포닌들의 밀 자엽초 신장에 미치는 영향을 10³∼10^6 M 범위에서 조사하였다. 전세노사이트 Rc, Rb₂ 및 Rb₁은 10⁴M 이상의 농도, Rd와 Rf는 10^(-3)M에서 신정저해효과를 나타냈으며, Re 및 Rg₁ 등은 영향을 주지 않았다. 즉 Rf를 제외하고는 aglycone이 protopanaxadil인 경우(3번, 20번 탄소에 당 결합)와 결합된 당의 갯수가 많을 때 활성을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 진세노사이드들을 구성하는 aglycone의 종류, 당의 갯수 및 결합위치의 차이, 즉 분자의 공간배열의 차이가 저해유무의 영향요인이 되며 당의 종류는 영향을 특별히 미치지 않음을 나타내었다.
