In this study, the cDNA library of Chang-liver cells was immunoscreened using common ADAMs antibody to obtain ADAM related genes. We found one positive clone that was confirmed as a new gene by Blast, which is an uncharacterized helical and coil protein and processes protease activity, and named protease-related protein 1 (ARP1). The submitted GenBank accession number is AY078070. Molecular characterizations of ARP1 were analyzed with appropriate bioinformatics software. To analyse its expression and function, ARP1 was subcloned into glutathione S-transferase fusion plasmid pGEX-2T and expressed by E. coli system. The in vitro expression product of ARP1 was recognized by common ADAMs antibody with western blot. Interestingly, ARP1 cleaves gelatine at pH9.5, which suggests it is an alkaline protease. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR result indicates that ARP1 mRNA is strongly transcribed in the liver and the treated Chang-liver cells. [BMB reports 2010; 43(5): 375-381]
The Effect of Light-Beam Wobble on the Noise Characteristics for an Optical Disk
Cong-Hui Xu,Yu-Xiang Zheng,Liang-Yao Chen,Rong-Jun Zhang 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.49 No.5I
The laser beam is usually perpendicular to the optical disk during operation; however, for various reasons, the laser beam may diverge from the normal state with respect to the optical disk, which will cause an unsteadiness in the reflection of the light, and may lead to system noise. In this paper, we simulate the process of such an influence by adding a random variable to the incidence angle of the laser beam by combining an optical-matrix method with the Monte Carlo method. After careful analysis, we put forward some new structures to obtain a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for a certain wavelength of the laser.

Objective: Tiny cerebral aneurysms are difficult to embolize because the aneurysm’s sac is too small for a single small coil, and coils within the aneurysm may escape from the confinement of a stent. This study was performed to introduce the stent-assisted coil-jailing technique and to investigate its effect on the coil embolization of tiny intracranial aneurysms. Materials and Methods: Sixteen patients with tiny intracranial aneurysms treated with the stent-assisted coil-jailing technique between January 2011 and December 2013 were retrospectively reviewed and followed-up. Results: All aneurysms were successfully treated with the coil-jailing technique, and at the end of embolization, complete occlusion of the aneurysm was achieved in 9 cases (56.3%), incomplete occlusion in 6 (37.5%), and partial occlusion in 1 (6.3%). Intraprocedural complications included acute thrombosis in one case (6.3%) and re-rupture in another (6.3%). Both complications were managed appropriately with no sequela. Follow-up was performed in all patients for 3–24 months (mean, 7.7 months) after embolization. Complete occlusion was sustained in the 9 aneurysms with initial complete occlusion, progressive thrombosis to complete occlusion occurred in the 6 aneurysms with initial near-complete occlusion, and one aneurysm resulted in progressive thrombosis to complete occlusion after initial partial occlusion. No migration of stents or coils occurred at follow-up as compared with their positions immediately after embolization. At follow-up, all patients had recovered with no sequela. Conclusion: The stent-assisted coil-jailing technique can be an efficient approach for tiny intracranial aneurysms, even though no definite conclusion regarding its safety can be drawn from the current data.

High molecular weight glutenin subunits(HMW-GS) play a significant role in determining breadmakingqualities of common wheat flour. The study presentedin the paper identified two novel HMW-GS (designatedas 1Bx14* and 1By15*) at the Glu-B1 locus inChinese wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) landrace Banjiemangby SDS-PAGE. The open reading frames (ORFs) of thegenes were amplified and cloned with designed specificprimers. Both of them had sequences highly similar tothose of other HMW-GS genes, but displayed minormodification. The ORF of 1Bx14* was 2367 bp long andencoded 789 aa with 4 cysteines, which included 25nanopeptides, 65 hexapeptides and 7 tripeptides motifs. The ORF of 1By15* was 2106 bp long and encoded 702 aawith 7 cysteines, which included 23 nanopeptides and 53hexapeptides motifs. The predicted molecular weights ofthe mature proteins encoded by 1Bx14* and 1By15* geneswere 83.1 and 73.2 k Da, respectively. The presence andauthenticity of the two genes in Banjiemang were confirmedby bacterial expression and liquid chromatographyelectrosprayionization mass spectrometry (LC–ESI–MS). By phylogenetic analysis, the 1Bx14* was clustered withx-type subunits but had a high divergence with other 1Bxsubunits, whereas the 1By15* was clustered with y-typesubunits and closely related to subunit 1By15. The studyconcluded that 1Bx14* and 1By15* from Banjiemang werenovel allelic variations of HMW-GS at Glu-B1 locus, which were probably exploitable as new resources forwheat quality improvement.

Trichogramma dendrolimi Matsumura (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) are haplo-diploid egg parasitoid wasps widely used as biological control agents against the Asian corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis Guenée (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae). Two reproductive modes have been found in this species. Typically, female wasps produce haploid male offspring from unfertilized eggs and diploid female offspring from fertilized eggs (bisexual). However, they can also produce only diploid females when they are infected with Wolbachia, though the eggs are unfertilized (thelytokokous). To investigate the potential of a thelytokous Wolbachia-infected (TdW+) and a bisexual uninfected (Td) T. dendrolimi strain as inundative biocontrol agents, the functional responses of both strains toward their natural enemy (Asian corn borer) were evaluated at three constant temperatures (20, 25 and 30 °C). The results revealed two types of functional response for both strains: type II and III. TdW+strain displayed type II at 30 °C (high temperature) and III at 20 °C (low temperature) and 25 °C, while Td strain displayed type II at 20 °C and III at 25 °C and 30 °C. The comparison of functional response between two strains indicated TdW+ and Td strain had no significant difference at 20 °C. However, the estimated host handling time of the TdW+ strain was significantly shorter than that of the Td strain at 25 °C, and TdW+ strain had significantly higher instantaneous search rate and shorter handling time than Td strain at 30 °C. Shorter host handling time and higher instantaneous search rate in thelytokous Wolbachia-infected T. dendrolimi showed that this strain might be more effective for controlling Asian corn borer.

This paper proposes a novel integrated multi-algorithm fusion localization and trajectory tracking framework for autonomous vehicles under extreme conditions with non-Gaussian noises. Firstly, in order to solve the problem that GPS signals are interfered with non-Gaussian noises or lost, a localization method based on Particle Filter (PF) is designed, which takes full advantage of the reference objects position information and vehicle driving state information, thus realizing the self-localization for high-speed autonomous vehicles. Besides, considering the accumulated errors of the model-driven Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) in the long-horizon positioning prediction, an online future driving state prediction algorithm based on multi-order variable-step Markov model (MM) is proposed to calculate the future vehicle position in scenarios without reference. The fusion of these two methods can give full play to their respective advantages, thus improving the accuracy and robustness of the whole localization algorithm in scenes with non-Gaussian noises. Then, the location information and the future driving state are applied to the trajectory tracking controller based on adaptive model predictive control (AMPC). Finally, the CarSim-Matlab/Simulink cGAOo-simulations results show the effectiveness of the proposed framework when GPS signal is interfered with non-Gaussian noises, which further improve the positioning accuracy and autonomous tracking stability.
LOW TEMPERATURE SYNTHESIS OF Mg(OH)2 NANOTUBES IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS OF BLOCK COPOLYMER P123
HUI-MING CHENG,ZHIGANG ZHAO,FENGXIA GENG,HONGTAO CONG,JINBO BAI 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2006 NANO Vol.1 No.2
A simple aqueous solution-based block-polymer-assisted method was developed for the synthesis of Mg(OH)2 nanotubes using inexpensive starting materials (MgSO4 and NaOH) with significant advance of bringing down the average outer diameter to the regime below 10 nm. The synthesized nanotubes are found to possess a relatively high specific surface area up to 64 m2/g, which may suggest their potential value for use in the catalysis field. The Barrett–Joyner–Halenda pore-size distribution plot reveals a bimodal distribution centred at 3.4 and 17.3 nm, which may be from the tunnel cavity and the aggregated pores of Mg(OH)2 nanotubes, respectively. This method can be widely used to fabricate other inorganic 1D nanostructured materials and easily realized in industrial-scale synthesis.
Concept Similarity Measure with Hierarchy Structure and Information
Cong Dai,Dongmei Li,Hui han,Qichen Han,Jiajia Hou 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.8
Calculating semantic similarity between concepts in ontology is an important issue in natural language processing and so on, so how to measure the similarity becomes a hot topic among many scholars. However, most existing methods cannot distinguish the similarity further. Confronting this problem, we propose a new semantic similarity method combining hierarchy structure of ontology and information content of two concepts based on domain ontology, which highlights the semantic information of leaves in the ontology structure. Our experiment demonstrates that, compared with other available methods, our proposal can improve the accuracy between two leaves and between leaf and non-leaf.
Depression and the Risk of Breast Cancer: A Meta-Analysis of Cohort Studies
Sun, Hui-Lian,Dong, Xiao-Xin,Cong, Ying-Jie,Gan, Yong,Deng, Jian,Cao, Shi-Yi,Lu, Zu-Xun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.8
Background: Whether depression causes increased risk of the development of breast cancer has long been debated. We conducted an updated meta-analysis of cohort studies to assess the association between depression and risk of breast cancer. Materials and Methods: Relevant literature was searched from Medline, Embase, Web of Science (up to April 2014) as well as manual searches of reference lists of selected publications. Cohort studies on the association between depression and breast cancer were included. Data abstraction and quality assessment were conducted independently by two authors. Random-effect model was used to compute the pooled risk estimate. Visual inspection of a funnel plot, Begg rank correlation test and Egger linear regression test were used to evaluate the publication bias. Results: We identified eleven cohort studies (182,241 participants, 2,353 cases) with a follow-up duration ranging from 5 to 38 years. The pooled adjusted RR was 1.13(95% CI: 0.94 to 1.36; $I^2=67.2%$, p=0.001). The association between the risk of breast cancer and depression was consistent across subgroups. Visual inspection of funnel plot and Begg's and Egger's tests indicated no evidence of publication bias. Regarding limitations, a one-time assessment of depression with no measure of duration weakens the test of hypothesis. In addition, 8 different scales were used for the measurement of depression, potentially adding to the multiple conceptual problems concerned with the definition of depression. Conclusions: Available epidemiological evidence is insufficient to support a positive association between depression and breast cancer.
