Turning Dynamics and Equilibrium of Two-Wheeled Vehicles

        Chih-Keng Chen,Thanh-Son Dao,Chih-Kai Yang 대한기계학회 2005 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.19 No.1S

The equations of motion of two-wheeled vehicles, e g bicycles or motorcycles, are developed by using Lagrange's equations for quasi-coordinates The pure rolling constraints between the ground and the two wheels ale considered m the dynamical equations of the system For each wheel, two nonholonomic and two holonomic constraints are introduced in a set of differentials algebraic equations (DAE) The constraint Jacobian matrix is obtained by collecting all the constraint equations and converting them into the velocity form Equilibrium, an algorithm for searching for equilibrium points of two-wheeled vehicles and the associated problems are discussed Formulae for calculating the radii of curvatures of ground-wheel contact paths and the reference point are also given<br/>

Interleaved DC-DC Converters with Partial Ripple Current Cancellation

        Bor-Ren Lin,Huann-Keng Chiang,Chih-Yuan Cheng 전력전자학회 2012 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.12 No.2

An interleaved PWM converter is proposed to implement the features of zero voltage switching (ZVS), load current sharing and ripple current reduction. The proposed converter includes two ZVS converters with a common clamp capacitor. With the shared capacitor, the charge balance of the two interleaved parts is automatically regulated under input voltage and load variations. The active-clamping circuit is used to realize the ZVS turn-on so that the switching losses on the power switches are reduced. The ZVS turn-on of all of the switching devices is achieved during the transition interval. The interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) operation will reduce the ripple current and the size of the input and output capacitors. The current double rectifier (CDR) is adopted in the secondary side to reduce output ripple current so that the sizes of the output chokes and capacitor are reduced. The circuit configuration, operation principles and design considerations are presented. Finally experimental results based on a 408W (24V/17A) prototype are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

Middle Cerebral Artery Compromise Associated With Post-traumatic Hydrocephalus: A Case Report

        Tzu-Ning Chen,Keng-Liang Kuo,Chih-Lung Lin,Yu-Feng Su 대한신경손상학회 2023 Korean Journal of Neurotrauma Vol.19 No.4

Post-traumatic hydrocephalus (PTH) is a commonly encountered complication following decompressive craniectomy, and is usually characterized by symptoms including headache, nausea, vomiting, and papilledema. Extracranial herniation accompanied by hemiplegia is a rare complication in patients with PTH who underwent craniectomy after subdural hematoma removal. We report a case of PTH that presented with extracranial herniation within one month of decompressive craniectomy. Following ventriculoperitoneal shunt implantation, left hemiplegia improved dramatically with restoration of the left middle cerebral artery blood flow, which was evident on serial imaging. Vascular compromise is often overshadowed by increased intracranial pressure when clinicians are dealing with traumatic brain injury patients. Delicate neurological and radiological examinations and prompt early interventions could lead to optimal outcomes in patients receiving decompressive craniectomy.

      • Multidisciplinary Perspectives in Understanding Slow-moving Landslide

        ( Wei-an Chao ),( Ming-chien Chung ),( Keng-hao Kang ),( Chih-pin Lin ),( Tung-lin Tai ),( Hao-wen Yang ) 대한지질공학회 2019 대한지질공학회 학술발표회논문집 Vol.2019 No.2

Landslides have caused extensive infrastructure damage and threatened the human fatalities through the centuries. Among all triggered factors, massive precipitation and large earthquakes are considered to be the two key activators for pushing landslide moving, particularly for catastrophic landslides. The most acceptable mechanism resulting the landslide movement is liquefaction due to increasing water pore pressure. In this study, a landslide site has been well understood by hydrological, geophysical, geological, geodetic, geotechnical and seismological (H4GS) perspectives. Our seismic monitoring of daily relative velocity changes (dv/v) in sliding material decreased coinciding with first-half rainy period yet increased observing in post-half raining event. Geodetic survey (real-time kinematic, RTK; total station) before and after rainy period presents the vertical subsidence without any horizontal movement. The results from multidisciplinary investigation allow us to draw the conceptual model of landslide healing process caused by the water loading. Under the stability condition (F > 1.0) for each sliding materials, unconsolidated landslide colluvium and impermeable sliding surface could trap the seepage water to be as water pool, provided compact force acting on the materials below the sliding boundary. The vertical force of compaction facilitates to increasing the cohesion and strength of materials, tending the landslide material to be much stability. We demonstrated that healing process is periodically occurred but only for prolonged and intense precipitation combined with stability condition.
