P450 CYP2D6 enzyme(=debrisoquine hydroxylase) is known to metabolize many neuroleptics and some genetic polymorphisms in the CYP2D6 gene were reported to be associated with tardive dyskinesia(TD). We investigeted the association of two genetic polymorphisms in the CYP2D6 gene, $CYP2D6^*4$ and $CYP2D6^*10$, with TD in Korean schizophrenic subjects. Subjects consisted of 71 Korean schizophrenics and TD was evaluated using the Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS). There were no statistically significant differences in the demographic variables of age, male to female percentage and the current antipsychotic(CPZ equivalent) dose between the group with TD and the group without TD. But the duration of antipsychotic drug exposure was significantly higher in the group without TD(p=0.000, by independent t-test). The mean AIMS score in the group with TD was $11.2{\pm}6.6$(S.D.). Genotypings for the presence of $CYP2D6^*4$ and $CYP2D6^*10$ were done using PCR amplifications and endonuclease digestions. There were no statistically significant genotypic and alleleic associations between TD and $CYP2D6^*4$(by chisquare tests), and between TD and $CYP2D6^*10$(by chi-square tests). These results indicate that the $CYP2D6^*4$ and $CYP2D6^*10$ polymorphisms have no significant roles in the causation of TD.

The study was made on fermentation of ramie-fibre by Bacteria "Bacillus Subtilis Var. R-5" which has isolated from various micro-organisms forming pectinase whish fermentates ramie, as reported in the previous study. The results are as follows: 1. The experimentation on formenting bast fibres for textile use showed optimun temperature 30℃ to 35℃ and optimun pH 7.0 respectively. 2. Degumming of crude ramie fibre were only required about 4 days with the Bacillus Subtilis Var. R-5 to ferment. However, the conventional system of fermentation which has been made with spontaneous bacterias generated in fermenting tank were required more than around 7 days. 3. Finished degumming, the ramie fibres Fermented with the selected Bacteria R-5 showed the tensile strength and elongation of them very good, comparing conventional fermenting with alkaline degumming. 4. Determining the tensile strength and elongation for degummed ramie fibers, the largest results both in the tensile strength and elongation were brought in fermenting with "R-5" as following table. ◁표 삽입▷(원문을 참조하세요)

크리프 수명 예측에 관한 연구로서 Larson Miller는 수명 예측식 t=T(C+log t)으로 시간-온도의 개념을 도입했고 Orr-Sherby와 Dorn은 크리프파단매개변수를 [ log t-(ΔH/RT)]라고 정의한바 있으며 본 연구에서는 고온 구조용 재료로 많이 사용되는 A17075-T651 합금을 사용하여 최근 크리프 파단 수명 해석에 많이 사용되는 수정 Mokman-Grant 관계식을 사용하였다. 수명 예측에 필요한 상수 m', C'를 각각 구하고 크리프 속도에 대한 온도와 응력의 의존성과 제3기 크리프 변형과정에서의 크리프 파단기구를 분석하였다. Modtechnological progress demands the use of materials at high temperature and high pressure. Constant load creep tests have carried out over a range of stresses at high temperatures. One of the most critical factors in considering such applications perhaps the most critical one is creep behavior. In this study, the stress exponents n were determined during creep over the temperature range of 275℃ to 325℃ and stress range of 36㎫ to 72㎫ in order to investigate the creep behavior. And the applicability of modified Monkman-Grant relationship was discussed.
Gauss-Seidel 계의 수렴조건및 해석에 관한 고찰

Gauss-Seidel iteration method can be used in analyzing multi-variate linear systems of equations. This method provides fast algorithm when convergence conditions are satisfied. But, normally it is tricky and difficult to have satisfactory convergence conditions. This paper researches possibilities of applying Gauss-Seidel method to nonlinear cases as well as linear cases. Simple criteria for finding convergence conditions are presented. Given the difficulty of meeting convergence conditions, a linearized approach is suggested for solving most nonlinear systems derived from Gauss-Seidel forms.
양극성 장애와 Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 유전자 다형성

Objectives : Several studies suggested that cytokines could be involved in the pathogenesis of mood disorders, while data for bipolar disorder is relatively deficient (BD). BD, Knowned to have a inherited tendency, has been considered to be related with T-helper cell system. This study was designed to investigate the association between polymorphism of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP1) gene at promoter-2518 and BD. Methods : Patients with BD (n=92) in accordance with DSM-FV criteria and control subjects (n=114) participated in this study. DNA was extracted from whole blood and the MCP-1 gene promoter region was amplified by polymerase chain reaction-based method. Results : Genotype and allele distributions in patients with BD were not different from those of control subjects (p=0.587 ; p=0.384). Genotype and allele distributions in accordance to presence or absence of suicide attempt (p=0.423), family history (p=0.733) and psychotic feature (p=0.436) were not different between the two groups. Conclusion : Present study suggests that the MCP1 promoter -2518 polymorphism may not affect the susceptibility and clinical diversity of the development of BD.

현재 차량용 동력발생장치로써 연료절약과 배기가스의 문제 때문에 압축점화 디젤기관이 승용차 시장분야에서 뿐만아니라 대형트럭과 선박엔진의 시장에서 관심이 고조되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 메탄올이 터보 과급기 및 중간냉각기 부착 디젤기관에서 매연배출을 감소시키는 데 유용할 뿐만아니라 출력 및 연소성능을 향상시키는데 현저한 효과가 있음을 확인하였으며 바람직한 결과를 얻었다. For the power generation of the new vehicle engine, the share of the compression ignition Diesel engine increases in the ppassenger car market as well as their more traditional use for the heavy duty trucks and marine engines. In the persent study, Methyl alcohol is a very useful not only for reducing the smoke concentration of Diesel engine but also in Turbo intercooler charged engine for improving the efficiency of the combustion and power.

Because of a sudden growth of the research of fatigue failure, recent machines or structures have been designed by damage tolerance design in many fields. Consequently, it is the most primary factor to clarity the specific character of fatigue failure in the design of machines or structures considering reliability. A statistical analysis is required to analyze the outcome of an experiment or a life estimate by reason of that fatigue failure contains lots of random elements. Reliability analysis which has taken the place of the existing analyses in the consideration of the uncertainty of a material, is a very efficient way. Even reliability analysis, however, is not a perfect way to analyses the uncertainties of all the materials. This thesis would refer to a newly conceived data analysis that the coefficient of a system could cause the ambiguity of the relationship of an input and output.

본 연구에서는 열충격이 작용하는 세라믹 구조의 신뢰성 평가 방법을 제시하였다. 어떤 확률분포함수를 갖는 균열의 크기를 구조의 단위 체적당 밀도가 랜덤하게 분포되는 것으로 가정하였다. 크랙이 불안정한 조건은 일반적인 열응력하의 취성체로써 유도될 수 있다. 확률 고장 모델은 불확실한 크기의 크랙을 함유한 취성체에 대한 크랙 불안정의 확률을 연구하기 위해 제시하였다. 취성구조의 신뢰성은 어떤 미소체적의 크랙이 불안정하게될 때 그 구조는 파괴되는 것으로 하여 취약 링크의 가설 모델을 기초로 평가하였다. 그리고 수치 해석적 예제를 통하여 제사한 방법의 유용성을 증명하였다. An analysis method for the reliability of ceramic structures subjected to thermal shocks is presented. Flaws with the size of given probability distribution function are assumed to be distributed at random with a certain density per unit volume in the structures. Criterions for crack instability are derived for brittle solids under general thermal stresses. A probabilistic failure model is presented to study the probability of crack instability for brittle solids containing cracks with uncertain crack size. The reliabilities of brittle structures are evaluated based on the weakest-link hypothesis, which states that a structure fails when the cracks in any differential volume become unstable. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the application of the proposed method.
