        Color variety of up-conversion emission of Er3+/3+co-doped phosphate glass ceramics

        The sample of Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped phosphate glass ceramic was prepared. At 975 nm laser diode (LD) excitation, the strong up-conversion (UC) emissions were observed, which were the UC green emission at 510e570 nm and the UC red emission at 636e692 nm, respectively. At low pump power (126 mW), the red emission is primary, and the color purity Rcp is 0.81. With the increasing of pump power, the emission color gradually varies from red to green. The intensity of the green emission is stronger compared to that of the red emission at high power (868 mW), and the color purity Rcp is 0.76. Thus, this material can be applied to fluorescence anti-counterfeiting by the color variety of UC emission under different pump power.

        Fine Mapping of qHD8-1, a QTL Controlling the Heading Date, to a 26-kb DNA Fragment in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

        Heading date is one of the importance agronomic traits. A library consisting of 1,123 single segment substitution lines (SSSLs) in the same genetic background of an elite rice variety Huajingxian 74 (HJX74) was evaluated for heading date (HD). From this library, the SSSL W06-26-35-1-5-2 with the substituted interval of PSM152–PSM154–PSM155–RM25–RM547–RM72–RM404 was found having a gene, which performed stable and late heading in the different environments of Shandong and Hainan provinces. To map the gene governing heading date, the SSSL W06-26-35-1-5-2 was crossed with the recipient HJX74 to develop an F_2 segregating population. The distribution of late and early heading plants in this population fitted a segregation ratio of 3:1, indicating the late heading was controlled by a dominant gene. The gene locus for heading date was tentatively designated as qHD8-1. Using a random sample of 460 individuals from the F_2population, the qHD8-1 was narrowed down to a region flanking by two SSR markers PSM155 and RM547. For fine mapping of qHD8-1, a large F_2:3 segregating population of 3,000 individuals were developed from F_2 plants heterozygous in the PSM155–RM547 region. Recombinants analysis further mapped qHD8-1 to an interval of region 26 kb with markers RM22492 and P23 bounded on the left and right sides, respectively. Sequence analysis of this 26-kb fragment revealed that it contains five putative open reading frames,which were regarded as candidates of qHD8-1. These results will be useful in cloning of the qHD8-1 gene

        Adjustable wavelength and lifetime in Mn4+ ion doped phosphate glasses

        Phosphate glasses doped with Mn4þ ion were prepared using high temperature melting method. Under 408 nm excitation, the peak wavelength and lifetime of the fluorescence are related to the Mn4þ ion concentration. With the increasing of Mn4þ ion concentration, the fluorescence wavelength varies from 605 nm to 685 nm and the lifetime increases from several microseconds to one millisecond. The fluorescence wavelength is variable and the lifetime is tunable for our materials.

        Highly efficient quantum cutting in Yb/Pr-codoped NaY(WO4)2 crystal

        Cutting one ultraviolet photon into three near-infrared (NIR) photons can effectively improve the efficiency of silicon solar cells. We prepared Yb-doped, Pr-doped, and Yb/Pr-codoped NaY(WO4)2 (NYW) crystals. The Yb/Pr-codoped sample can divide the ultraviolet and blue photons into ~1000 nm NIR photons, which brings strong emission at the NIR wavelength range. On the basis of the luminescence spectra and lifetime analysis, the quantum efficiency of the material is higher.

      • On-demand supply of slurry fuels to a porous anode of a direct carbon fuel cell: Attempts to increase fuel-anode contact and realize long-term operation

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this paper, we propose a novel idea that might allow resolution of the two biggest challenges that hinder practical use of direct carbon fuel cells (DCFC). This work involved 1) the use of three types of porous Ni anode with different pore sizes, 2) size matching between the anode pores and solid fuel particles in a molten-carbonate (MC) slurry, and 3) provision of a continuous supply of fuel-MC slurry through the porous Ni anode. As a result, larger numbers of smaller pores in the anode were preferred for extending the triple phase boundary (TPB), as long as the fuel particles were sufficiently small to have full access to the inner pore spaces of the anode. For example, the maximal power density achieved in the case of optimal size matching, reached 645 mW cm<SUP>−2</SUP>, which is 14-times greater than that for the case of poorest size-matching and 64-times larger than that for a non-porous anode, and lasted for more than 20 h. After 20 h of steady operation at a fixed current density (700 mA cm<SUP>−2</SUP>), the electric potential slightly decreased due to partial consumption of the fuel. The cell performance readily recovered after restarting the supply of MC-fuel slurry.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A potentially continuous fuel supply with increasing fuel-anode contacts in a DCFC. </LI> <LI> Of importance was the size match between the anode pores and fuel particles. </LI> <LI> Maximal power density under the optimal size-matching reached 645 mW cm<SUP>−2</SUP>. </LI> <LI> More than 20-h steady operation was achieved at a current density of 700 mA cm<SUP>−2</SUP>. </LI> </UL> </P>

        In recent years many experimentalists have reported an anomalously enhanced thermal conductivity in liquid suspensions of nanoparticles, comprehansive experimental dataset is obtained for thermal conductivity of Al₂O₃, SiO₂, ZnO nanofluids with various volume fraction ranging from 1.0 to 5.0%. Transient hot wire (THW) equipment are developed for the measurements show that, we found that the thermal conductivity increasing with increase viscosity of nanofluids. Therefore, theoretical models are developed to predict thermal conductivity with well established Aggregation models. The result show that aggregation mechanism on the remarkable enhancement of the thermal conductivity of nanofluids.

        중국 “合同法”(계약법)에서의 계약책임

        중국은 아직 한국에서와 같은 단일한 민법전을 갖고 있지 않고, 민법 내용을 여러 단행법으로 나누어 규정하고 있다. 1999년에 제정된 “中華人民共和國合同法”(중국 계약법)도 여러 민사 단행법 중의 하나이다. 동법에서 계약위반에 대한 구제는 중요한 문제이다. 동법에서 계약책임은 원칙상 엄격책임이며, 담보책임을 포섭하고 있다. 계약책임에는 기본적으로 강제이행, 손해배상, 해제, 추완 및 대금감액 등이 포함된다. 손해배상의 범위는 계약체결시에 채무자가 예견하였거나 또는 예견하였어야 할 손해로 한정되며, 계약위반으로 인한 정신적 손해를 포함할 수 있는지에 관하여 학설과 판례 모두가 통일된 입장을 보이고 있지 않다. 또한, 동법에서는 해제와 해지를 구분하고 있지 않으며, 해제는 당사자의 귀책사유를 요하지 않는다. China does not have a single civil code, but rather has several civil acts. Contract Law of the People's Republic of China of 1999 (Contract Law of China) is one of the several civil acts, which was drafted by legal scholars, first in the history of legislation, and enacted in reference to foreign legal systems. Liability for breach of contract is an important issue in Contract Law of China. Under the Law, it is strict liability in principle but also includes the concept of warranty liability. The basic remedies for the breach are specific performance, damages, termination of the contract, cure for non-conforming performance and price reduction. The scope of damages is limited to the damage that the debtor foresaw or should have foreseen at the time of the conclusion of the contract and termination of the contract does not require fault of the contracting party.

        A TGA study of CO 2 gasification reaction of various types of coal and biomass

        The CO 2 gasification kinetics of various carbonaceous samples of high- and low-rank coal and a biomass were determined under CO 2flow with increasing temperature in a Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) coupled with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). We utilized four different types of fuels and their chars with significant differences in their physico-chemical properties that are being most widely used in Korea. As a result, fuels with larger surface area and more catalytic components in ash were preferred for increasing the intrinsic reactivity of CO 2 gasification particularly for low-rank coals and biomass, respectively. It was postulated that the catalytic effect of ash components could compensate for the lack of active sites in the biomass samples. From the practical point of view, the utilization of the low-rank coal with the porous char structure with blending the biomass is recommended for a remarkable increase of the gasification rate.
