Optimal design of double layer barrel vaults considering nonlinear behavior

Saeed Gholizadeh,Changiz Gheyratmand,Hamed Davoudi 국제구조공학회 2016 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.58 No.6

The present paper focuses on size optimization of double layer barrel vaults considering nonlinear behavior. In order to tackle the optimization problem an improved colliding bodies optimization (ICBO) algorithm is proposed. The important task that should be achieved before optimization of structural systems is to determine the best form having the least cost. In this study, an attempt is done to find the best form then it is optimized considering linear and non-linear behaviors. In the optimization process based on nonlinear behavior, the geometrical and material nonlinearity effects are included. A large-scale double layer barrel vault is presented as the numerical example of this study and the obtained results indicate that the proposed ICBO has better computational performance compared with other algorithms.

Non-stationary Sparse Fading Channel Estimation for Next Generation Mobile Systems

( Saadat Dehgan ),( Changiz Ghobadi ),( Javad Nourinia ),( Jie Yang ),( Guan Gui ),( Ehsan Mostafapour ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2018 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.12 No.3

In this paper the problem of massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel estimation with sparsity aware adaptive algorithms for 5th generation mobile systems is investigated. These channels are shown to be non-stationary along with being sparse. Non-stationarity is a feature that implies channel taps change with time. Up until now most of the adaptive algorithms that have been presented for channel estimation, have only considered sparsity and very few of them have been tested in non-stationary conditions. Therefore we investigate the performance of several newly proposed sparsity aware algorithms in these conditions and finally propose an enhanced version of RZA-LMS/F algorithm with variable threshold namely VT-RZA-LMS/F. The results show that this algorithm has better performance than all other algorithms for the next generation channel estimation problems, especially when the non-stationarity gets high. Overall, in this paper for the first time, we estimate a non-stationary Rayleigh fading channel with sparsity aware algorithms and show that by increasing non-stationarity, the estimation performance declines.

Processing Route Effects on the Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of Dual Phase Steel

        Maryam Soleimani,Hamed Mirzadeh,Changiz Dehghanian 대한금속·재료학회 2020 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.26 No.6

The mechanical and corrosion behaviors of low carbon DP steel were studied based on different processing routes: (1)intercritical annealing (IA), (2) step quenching (SQ) via austenitization and quick transferring of the sample to the secondfurnace, and (3) Slow SQ via furnace cooling to the desired temperature. The properties were found to be highly dependenton the volume fraction of martensite (VM) and the density of ferrite/martensite interfaces. However, at the same martensitecontent, the mechanical properties of Slow SQ sheet were inferior than those of SQ and IA sheets, which were related to therelatively poor work-hardening behavior due to the severe partitioning of Mn between ferrite and martensite phases. Thelatter was also responsible for an increase in the corrosion current density (icorr) via galvanic corrosion. These results wereanalyzed based on the polarization curves and Nyquist plots obtained from the electrochemical impedance spectroscopytest. This study revealed that the SQ route can result in both better mechanical performance and higher corrosion resistance.

Meat Value Chain Losses in Iran

        Ranaei, Vahid,Pilevar, Zahra,Esfandiari, Changiz,Khaneghah, Amin Mousavi,Dhakal, Rajan,Vargas-Bello-Perez, Einar,Hosseini, Hedayat Korean Society for Food Science of Animal Resource 2021 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.41 No.1

To stop hunger, reducing food losses is a potential movement towards saving food. A large portion of these losses could be avoided and reduced through the improved food chain in many countries. Raising awareness on how and where food losses occur will help recovering foods such as meat by identifying solutions and convincing people to implement those solutions. This, in turn, will lead to private and public efforts to recover meat that might be otherwise wasted. After highlighting the importance of food saving benefits and relevant statistics, this paper explains the possible ways to reduce meat loss and waste in abattoirs and presents a framework for prevention according to the estimates of meat losses in Iran meat supply. The current article answers the questions of where do we have the meat loss in Iran and what approaches are most successful in reducing losses in the meat industry. The national average loss and waste in meat production are about 300,000 metric tonnes (about 15%). Many segments and players are involved with this huge amount of losses in the meat value chain, a large portion of these losses could be avoided and reduced by about 25% through using by-products with the mechanization of design and manufacturing. The production amount of mechanically deboned meat (MDM) is 105,091,000 kg, concluding the major waste (88.33%) of total poultry losses. Ensuring appropriate actions by exploiting the full potential of engaged Iranian associations and institutes is considered to reduce the losses.

      • A pivotal role of GSK-3 in synaptic plasticity

        Bradley, Clarrisa A.,Peineau, Sté,phane,Taghibiglou, Changiz,Nicolas, Celine S.,Whitcomb, Daniel J.,Bortolotto, Zuner A.,Kaang, Bong-Kiun,Cho, Kwangwook,Wang, Yu Tian,Collingridge, Graham L. Frontiers Media S.A. 2012 Frontiers in molecular neuroscience Vol.5 No.-

<P>Glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) has many cellular functions. Recent evidence suggests that it plays a key role in certain types of synaptic plasticity, in particular a form of long-term depression (LTD) that is induced by the synaptic activation of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDARs). In the present article we summarize what is currently known concerning the roles of GSK-3 in synaptic plasticity at both glutamatergic and GABAergic synapses. We summarize its role in cognition and speculate on how alterations in the synaptic functioning of GSK-3 may be a major factor in certain neurodegenerative disorders.</P>
