The purpose of this study is to provide a empirical material in legislation on the intoxicated regulation. Data of 430 survey were used. To categorize the reasons of police action, factor analysis method was conducted, and to understand the impact of each factors to the police action multiple regression analysis was conducted. Results are as follows. First, the respondents agreed with the strengthening police action and the intoxicated in the streets should be sentenced severer than now. Second, as a results of factor analysis to categorize the reasons of the strengthening police action, three factors-preferred recognition factor, the intoxicated's danger factor, and the intoxicated experience factor-were categorized. Third, having the better recognition of drinking, they didn't want to strengthening police action. But, having the more experience and danger of the intoxicated, they wanted to strengthen the police action and severer punishments to the intoxicated.

The article analyzes the recent troubled relationship between China and the Democratic People`s Republic of Korea (DPRK), following the July missile tests and the October nuclear test. One would wonder if Pyongyang was countering a potential Sino-Russian-Japanese rapprochement in the making, given the fortuitous timing of the nuclear test. One could also wonder if Pyongyang was playing a "provocative role" against a relative Sino-South Korea "rapprochement," as Pyongyang may fear being "nailed" by all this rapprochement, thus losing its own diplomatic hand eventually on the Korean Peninsula. A recap of the tumultuous history of Sino- Korean relations could offer some clues, as Pyongyang would have attempted to play traditional power politics, like in the past 320 years, whereas China would ensure not being "sucked" into conflicts and controversies over Korea, as history has shown. The entree of the United States into the Korean fray via the Portsmouth Treaty (September 1905) and the Taft-Katusra "Agreement" (July 1905) was significant, as Washington had then joined Beijing, Tokyo and Moscow in "balancing" Korean forces on the Peninsula, a fact that has not changed fundamentally till today. But there is also a fundamental shift operating, as Seoul further distances itself from Washington`s hard-line policy and "shifts" toward a softer line espoused by Beijing vis-a-vis Pyongyang, clearly for commercial and affinity-related issues. Finally, Beijing could have been deemed to have scored a diplomatic triumph from its "initial disappointment" and Pyongyang`s "hanran" (meaning brazen or flagrant) action, following its missile and nuclear tests; the DPRK will likely return to the Six-Party Talks in December, thus giving Beijing a decisive diplomatic triumph on the Korean peninsula.
Massively parallel concentration device for multiplexed immunoassays

A massively parallel nanofluidic concentration device array for multiplexed and high-throughput biomolecule detection is demonstrated. By optimizing the microchannel/nanojunction design and channel conductivity, an array of up to 128 nanofluidic concentration devices were fabricated. Operation of the entire array requires only one inlet and one outlet reservoir, with the application of a single operational voltage bias across them. Concentration efficiencies of the devices were found to be uniform within the array, within 5% error. Alternatively, concentration speed in each channel can be individually tuned by controlling the length of the inlet microchannel and thus controlling the flow rate based on change of the tangential electric field. This allows immuno-binding reactions at different concentration ranges to be performed in parallel. Using multiplexed, successive-concentration enhanced detection in the device, we have shown that the dynamic range and reliability of the immunoassay can be significantly increased.

Graphic Abstract

Nanofluidic concentrators were massively parallelized without increasing the number of inlets/outlets, while one can control the accumulation speeds at each channel.

A New Pyranoxanthone Inophyllin B from Calophyllum inophyllum
G.C.L. Ee,A.S.M.Kua,Y.L. Cheow,C.K. Lim,V. Jong,M. Rahmani 한국생약학회 2004 Natural Product Sciences Vol.10 No.5
A new prenylated pyranoxanthone, inophyllin B (1), was isolated from the roots of Calophyllum inophyllum (Guttiferae). Together with this compound was also isolated the known pyranoxanthone brasilixanthone B (2) and two common triterpenes friedelin (3) and sitosterol (4). Structural elucidations of these compounds were achieved through 1H, 13C, DEPT, COSY, HSQC and HMBC experiments. The molecular mass was determined using MS techniques. The crude extract indicated weak toxicity to the larvae of Aedes aegypti. We report here the isolation, structural elucidation and bioassay data for Inophyllin B and brasilixanthone B.

Backgrounds/Aims: Hilar cholangiocarcinomas (HCCAs) are tumors that involve the biliary confluence; at present, radical surgery offers the only chance of long-term survival, but this can be challenging given the complexity of the hilar anatomy. Blumgart and Jarnagin described a preoperative staging system that incorporates the effect of local tumor extent and its impact on adjacent structures and that has been demonstrated to correlate better with actual surgical resectability. The primary aim of this study is to describe the correlation between preoperative Blumgart-Jarnagin staging and its correlation with surgical resectability. Methods: Patients who underwent surgical resection for hilar cholangiocarcinoma at Singapore General Hospital between January 1, 2002, and January 1, 2013, were identified from a prospectively maintained institutional database. All patients were staged based on the criteria described by Blumgart and Jarnagin. Correlation with surgical resectability was then determined. Results: A total of 19 patients were identified. Overall resectability was 57.8% (n=11). Patients with Blumgart-Jarnagin stage T1 had the highest rates of respectability at 80%; patients with stage T2 and T3 disease had resectability rates of 25% and 40% respectively. Median overall survival was 13.6 months. Conclusions: The Blumgart-Jarnagin staging system is useful for predicting tumor respectability in HCCA.
