With exact analysis of cracks in RC beam, present or past stress states can be traced. For analysis of Flexural cracks, experiments are carried out focusing on variation of crack widths due to stress, beam properties, the crack width expectation formulas of each code are compared.

The inspection of bridge condition is of extreme importance. Current inspection codes for bridge inspection are vague and uncertain, so the results are highly subjective and different from person to person and even day to day for a given person. To circumvent possible inconsistencies in inspection and rating of bridge components, the revised inspection codes have been proposed.

The studies on chloride diffusion of concrete have been done by a lot of researchers. However, there is few studies made to clear the effects of other attacks, like carbonation, on chloride diffusion properties. In this study, the experiments are carried out focusing on this by varying cement type, water to cement ratio and replacement of fly ash of concrete. The results show that carbonation attacks do not effect chloride diffusion properties of plain concrete greatly, while the different tendencies are exhibited for fly ash concrete. Therefore, it is desirable to consider the factors of carbonation attacks in using current chloride diffusion model to predict the penetration of chloride ion if fly ash is partially replaced for cement.

In pretensioned concrete structures, bond between prestressing steel and concrete is an essential component to ensure the integrity of a pretensioned member. The anchorage and development of the prestressing force depend exclusively on bond. The first purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of bond and transfer length between pretensioned steel and concrete. The second is to establish the realistic equation of transfer length considering essential variables. In this study. bond-slip relationship is determined from experiment results of stress increase in steel and strain in concrete at transfer. And finite element analysis are carried to determine transfer length considering various variables(strand type, concrete strength, concrete cover, prestressing force) by using bond-slip equation.

The non-destructive tests are widely used to predict the strength of existing structures. However, the current prediction equations give no satisfactory results when the aggregate, water to cement ratio, ages of concrete are different. The purpose of the present study is to propose the prediction equations for strength evaluation of concrete with limestone aggregate focusing on the rebound method and ultrasonic pulse velocity method. The major test variables include water to cement ratio and curing methods. The water to cement ratios are 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 respectively and the curing methods cover air-dry condition and standard curing condition. The present study indicates that the test data and the proposed equations agree well with each other.

Repeated loading produces a progressive deterioration of bond that may increase crack width under same stress level. Repeated loading also produces cyclic creep strain in concrete of RC beams. Cyclic creep strain of concrete in compression zone increases curvature, crack width of RC beams. this study presents expectation method of crack width in RC beams under repeated loading, this method can consider effects due to bond deterioration and cyclic creep.
Automated Detection of Rotor Faults for Inverter-Fed Induction Machines Under Standstill Conditions

<P>It is difficult to apply conventional online motor current signature analysis techniques for diagnosis of rotor faults for closed-loop induction motor drives for many applications due to the masking effect of the feedback current controller and/or variable frequency or load operation. Relying solely on traditional offline inspection techniques during regular maintenance does not allow frequent monitoring of rotor problems and is inconvenient since it requires rotor disassembly and/or manual rotor rotation. In this paper, a new automated technique for testing voltage source inverter-fed squirrel-cage induction machines at a standstill for rotor faults is proposed. The main concept is to use the inverter to excite the machine with a pulsating field at a number of angular positions to observe the variation in the impedance pattern due to broken rotor bars, whenever the motor is stopped. An experimental study on a 7.5-hp induction motor verifies that broken bars can be detected with high sensitivity and reliability. It will be shown that the proposed method can provide automated and reliable assessment of rotor condition frequently without motor disassembly, manual rotation, or additional instrumentation. The proposed test can also provide rotor quality assessment independent of variations in motor or load operating conditions since it is a standstill test.</P>
Classification of Soil Series in the Saemangeum Reclaimed Agricultural Tide Land

The soil which was confirmed by using auger with intervals of 200 m at a depth of 1 m in Agricultural tide land Section 5 had a somewhat poorly drainage and coarse loamy. The Gwangpo series has coarse loamy texture with a somewhat poorly drainage in Fluvio-marine plains, but confirmed soil had different characteristics with the Gwangpo series Our objective of in this study was to set a new soil series by comparing to the Gwangpo series. Both the Gwangpo and A-Gwangpo serieses showed the similar horizons (A, B and C horizons), texture (coarse loamy), and chemical properties. A somewhat poorly drainage in general Gwangpo series caused mainly grayish color and 2 - 20% of the mottle’s distribution (by oxidation) within 20 - 50 cm depth. An our soils, the mottle’s distribution was investigated by 2 - 20% and 20 - 49% in the Gwangpo and A-Gwangpo series, respectively. Gwangpo series is somewhat poorly drained and has a small amount of mottle (by oxidation) quantity, so it is used as a paddy field. But the A-Gwangpo series is estimated that it can be used as a field soil with an amount of 20 - 49% of mottle (by oxidation) quantity.
