        The Ameliorative Effects of Korean Bean‐Leaves on Inflammation and Liver Injury in Obese Rat Model

        Obesity may cause metabolic syndrome and adult diseases. This study was undertaken to investigate the ameliorative or useful effects of beanleaves on inflammation and liver damage in obese rat models. Rats were divided into three groups: a control group (normal diet, n=6), a fat diet group (45%?fat diet, n=7), and a bean leaf group (45%?fat+Korean bean leaves diet, n=7). Body weights in the bean leaf group were lower than those of the fat group (P<0.05). Serum tumor necrosis factor?α (TNF?α) and prostaglandin E₂ (PGE₂) concentrations were lower in both the control and bean leaf groups than in the fat group (P<0.001). TNF?α concentrations in the bean leaf group were slightly higher than in the control group but statistically significant (P<0.05). The bean leaf group histologically exhibited lower fatty degeneration, spotty necrosis, and leukocyte infiltrations in hepatic tissues than those of the fat group. In the homogenized liver tissues, the cyclooxygenase?2 (COX?2) gene was only expressed in the fat group. The gene expression levels of hepatic TNF?α, inducible nitric?oxide synthase, peroxiome proliferator?activated receptor?α (PPAR?α), poly (ADP?ribose) polymerase (PARP), and transforming growth factor?β1 (TGF?β1) were weaker in the bean leaf group than in the fat group. These results suggest that adding bean?leaves to the diet may ameliorate obesity?induced systemic inflammation and liver damage and that bean leaves may be a useful food for preventing obesity and thereby metabolic syndrome and adult diseases

      • 퍼지 추론을 이용한 분류 벡터 양자화기의 성능 개선

        In Classified Vector Quantization(CVQ) for image coding, the block classification pondering the block characteristics will be the most important procedure if we consider system performance. But it does not take effect because classification of conventional CVQ followed act on a heuristic and statistics method. In order to solve the problem of conventional methods, i.e, for block classification effectively we propose a fuzzy inferencing algorithm to improve its performance. To do this, fuzzy rules must be generated in the first. Our rules are based on energy distribution in transform domain with respect to spatial variation. Ultimately fuzzy inferencing of this paper apply these fuzzy rules for efficient block classification on a input image. As a result of efficient classification, our proposed method shows that blocking effect is decreased and PSNR(peak to peak signal to noise ratio) is increased by about 1 ∼ 2 dB for 0.2 ∼ 0.6 bpp range, when the performance is compared with Aizawa's scheme^[9].

        결정형 규산분진에 폭로된 섬유모세포의 자가증식 : Evaluation by H₂O₂and PDGF-AA 와 TGFβ

        Objectives : The aim of this study is to find out the activity of autoproliferation of rat fibroblast exposed to crystalline silica and the role of mediators secreted from rat fibroblast. Methods : The effect of α-quartz on production of growth factor (platelet-derived growth factor-AA and transforming growth factorβ) from rat fibroblasts were evaluated by ELISA and immunocytochemical analysis. Gene expression of these growth factors in rat fibrobast exposed to crystalline silica was evaluated by RT-PCR. Furthermore, fibroblast proliferation by culture supernatant of rat fibroblast was assayed by the neutral red test. Results : The amounts of H2O2 and growth factors synthesized in rat fibroblasts were significantly increased by the stimulation of crystalline silica (α-quartz) , which showed the dose-dependent manner to the concentration of α-quartz with the maximum response at the dosage of 100 ㎍/㎠. The result of RT-PCR demonstrated that α-quartz induced gene expression of PDGF-AA and TGFβ in rat fibroblast. We also found that supernatant of α-quartz-cocultured rat fibroblast induced a significant proliferation of fibroblast. Conclusion : Crystalline silica directly induce functional change In fibroblast such as increased release of reactive oxygen species and growth factors. The products of these functional change promote fibroblast proliferation via autocrine loop.

        電氣定着法에 의한 우라늄의 回收效果

        알파 放出核種인 우라늄을 混合 Oxalate-Chloride 溶液으로부터 低廉한 價格의 stainless steel 陰極板에 電氣定着시켰다. 電氣定着 最適條件은 定着時間, 初期電流, 電極間의 거리, 電解液의 pH, 陰極의 定着面積 및 電解液中의 우라늄 試料濃度에 따라 決定되었다. 標準우라늄 純粹溶液(NBS 960窒酸化物)을 사용하여 3回 反復된 實驗으로 定着時間 60分만에 90% 信賴度에서 計測器의 誤差가 4%일 때 平均 99% 以上의 回收率을 얻었다. Uranium radionuclides are electrodeposited on inexpensive stainless steel cathode from a mixed oxalate-chloride electrolyte. The factors affecting the optimum condition for the deposition are determined by studying the effects of deposition time, initial current, electrode spacing, pH of electrolyte and uranium concentration in the electrolyte at fixed cathode area. The experiment which was repeated 3 times at each uranium concentration with 60 minutes of deposition time, gave an error of less than 4% standard deviation at the 90% confidence level with average yield greater than 99%.

        The objective of this paper was to identify the direct relationship between popular culture and fashion style in the 80's and to characterize the value assessment basis of youth subculture, prevailing in the last decade as a mode of punk, middlesex or surrealism fashion, which are rendering substantial influence to many high fashion or Rock music costume designers. 1. Punk fashion was popularized by the initiation of young people who imitated pop stars under the specific circumstance of British economy: to express their aggresiveness, displeasure and nihilism It developed to a style such as mohican hair style, offensive make-up. violent image of accessories, dirty and disgusting clothes and punk image changed into fashionable fantasy combining with modern art. 2. Androgynous style, non-sex, gay fashion, resbian style identified as a middlesex fashion was also influenced by Rock stars ; David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Boy George, Annie Lennox and Laurie Anderson and spread over the adolescent simultaneously on the other hand. 3. Surrealism can be distinguished from the Punk or Middlesex fashion as it refined the artistic style of the 1930's. The overall vision of Surrealist are pursuing a liberal approach to the object by emphasizing its simplicity, friction between the ordinary and extraordinary, body and concept, artifice and the real. It is purporting the detail of body (eyes, lips, feet, hands, breast, shoes etc.) and every other things of nature so as incorporation them into their fashion. All these are reflecting the value of youth culture more or less own characteristics to make the popular culture acceptable by the public in the 1980's.

        한ㆍ미ㆍ일 치위생사 양성기관의 교과과정 비교

        The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare dental hygine curriculum of three countries--Korea, U.S.A., and Japan--, focusing on the ways of organizing content. In this study, 30 curriculum documents of dental hygienist in U.S., Japan, and Korea were analyzed and discussed by a framework of analysis which was constructed referring to Tylerian curriculum model. Using this framework, three kinds of key components of curriculum document were compared according to specific elements of each component. More specifically, comparing those curriculum documents, we must consider the dimension of content organization. In this study, the problem of course organization was viewed on three dimensions: continuity, sequence, and integration of curriculum content. Based on the results of this study, the conclusions are as follows. 1.Courses of dental hygienist education should be organized so that the curriculum foster the cumulative and continuous learning. It will be accomplished by considering the essential procedures or sequence of dental hygiene activities. 2.When organizing curriculum elements, we should consider the continuity dimension of learning content. Continuity deals with the vertical manipulation or repetition of curriculum components. In other words, it accounts for the reappearance in the curriculum of certain major ideas or skills. Therefore, courses should be based on the level of the dental hygienist activities in order to ensure a continuity of learning experiences. 3.Dental hygienist curriculum must be organized in a way to integrate the logic of dental hygiene as a discipline with the process of dental hygiene performance. Integration refers to the linking of all types of knowledge and experiences contained within the curriculum design. It emphasizes horizontal relations among various content topics and themes involving all domains of knowledge recognized. Thus, courses of dental hygiene curriculum should be integrated to allow college students to obtain a unified view of knowledge and an in-depth meaning of the dental hygiene as a profession.

      • 보리잎의 色素, 蛋白質含量 및 光系Ⅱ 活性에 미치는 Sulfite의 影響

        Sulfur dioxide, a major atmospheric pollutant, influences to photosynthesis and causes some damages such as chlorosis, necrosis etc. When SO_2 enters into leaf tissue through the stomata, it produces H^+, HSO_3^- and SO_3^-2 as it is dissolved in the water of cells. On the basis of a report that sulfite (SO_3^-2) serves as the most toxic material to SO_2 phytotoxicity, we treated sodium sulfite at the indicated concentrations and treatment time to barley leaves. Then the leaf disks were illuminated at 30,000 lux and placed in darkness. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of sulfite on pigments, protein content, and photosystem Ⅱ activity in barley leaves. With sulfite treatement of barley leaf disks, pigment and protein content were decreased in light but not in darkness. The rate of DCIP photoreduction was inhibited in light-dependence of sulfite. It was inhibited to 78% with sulfite (10mM) treatment for 1 hour.

        The reaction of FeCl_3(PPh_3)_2, Ⅰ, with 2,6-diisopropylaniline in the presence of magnesium gave an ionic salt [FeCl_2(O=PPh_3)_4]·C_6H_5CH_3, Ⅱ. This product has been characterized by ^1H-NMR and single crystal X-ray crystallography. Crystal data for Ⅱ: Monoclinic, space group Cc, a = 31.499(6)Å, b = 14.796(4)Å, c = 18.033(4)Å, β = 116.87(1)°, Z = 4, R(wR_2) = 0.0692(0.1717).

      • RAPD 분석을 이용한 Fusarium 속(Genus)내 13종간의 분류학적 위치 규명

        Fusarium 13종의 분류학적 위치를 규명하기 위하여 arbitrary decamer primers를 사용하여 polymerase chain reaction-random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) 방법을 사용하여 유전적인 다양성을 조사하였고, 증폭된 DNA의 PCR band patterns를 기초로 하여 UPGMA 방법으로 dendrogram을 그려 각 종간의 유사도를 구하였다. 선별한 8개의 primer에서는 평균적으로 1-9개의 bands가 0.1-3.0kb의 범위에서 나타나는 양상을 보였다. 13종간의 계통 분류학적 유사도는 0.58-0.85 사이로 나타났고, 가장 높은 유사도는 0.85로 section Elegans에 속하는 F. oxysporum과 section Liseola에 속하는 F.subglutinans 간에서 관찰되었다. To clarify the taxonomical classification of the genus Fusarium 13 species, genetic variation among them was assessed by RAPD using 8 arbitrary decamer primers. Similarity values were calculated from PCR patterns and based on these values a dendrogram was constructed by UPGMA method. We confirmed that the use of the RAPD procedure make it possible to distinguish among different species. The range of genetic similarity value among selected 13 species is 0.58 - 0.85, and the highest clustered value was 0.85 between F. subglutinans and F. oxysporum, which were belonged to different section.
