        A comparison of Min’s glasses and conventional occlusion therapy in the treatment of amblyopic children: a prospective study

        Min’s glasses are specially manufactured in order to enhance the satisfaction of the wearer and increase treatment effectiveness. We compared the effectiveness of Min’s glasses with that of conventional occlusion therapy in amblyopic pediatric patients. We prospectively studied 60 amblyopic patients. For four to 30 months, 24 of the patients were treated with conventional patch occlusion (patch group) and 36 of them were treated with Min’s glasses (glasses group). We compared the improvement in visual acuity and the treatment compliance between both groups, according to age (over six and less than six), sex, type of amblyopia, and the duration of treatment. Sixteen patients (66.7%) in the patch group and 32 patients (88.9%) in glasses group showed improvement in visual acuity (p=0.002). The pre-treatment average log MAR acuity was 0.56±0.25 in the patch group, and 0.59 ±0.25 in the glasses group. The average improvement in visual acuity was a 0.17 log MAR score in the patch group, and a 0.31 log MAR score in the glasses group (p=0.004). Compliance was 59.54% in the patch group and 83.44% in the glasses group (p=0.012). The pre-treatment average log MAR acuity was 0.49 ± 0.23 for children over six years of age in the patch group, and 0.58±0.28 for children over six years of age in the glasses group. For children over six years of age in the glasses group the improvement in visual acuity (0.29 log MAR score) was greater than for children over six years of age in the patch group (0.06 log MAR score) (p=0.0003). The pre-treatment average log MAR acuity was 0.55±0.22 for female patients in the patch group, and 0.60±0.25 for female patients in the glasses group. Female patients in the glasses group also showed a greater visual acuity improvement (0.29 log MAR score) than female patients in the patch group (0.14 log MAR score) (p=0.0028). However, there were no differences between the groups in patients less than six years of age and in male patients. In conclusion, Min’s glasses were more effective than conventional treatment with a patch in improving visual acuity and encouraging compliance in pediatric amblyopic patients, especially in children over six years of age and in girls.

        이병주의 희곡 텍스트 『流氓』연구

        본고는 선행 연구에서 그 제목만 언급된, 1959년 11월과 1959년 12월『文學』에 (상), (중)으로 연재된 희곡 유맹 의 지료를 발굴하고 그 구조를 살펴보았다. 먼저 텍스트가 수록된『文學』의 발간은 ‘젊은 세대를 위한 젊은 세대에 의한 젊은이’의 문학잡지를 지향하고자『新潮文學』의 정신을 이어받고 서울에서 발간된다. 서울에서 발간하면서『文學』은 새로운 기법과 고도의 비평정신이 필요한 젊은 세대 문인들에게 문학뿐만 아니라 미술, 음악, 회화, 연극 등 모든 예술의 분야를 위해 예술 각 분야에 걸친 신예들의 무게 있는 작품들의 소개하고자 하는 일환으로 희곡 『流氓』을 수록하여 연재한다. 그 발간 정신의 천명에도 불구하고 일제 강점과 남북 분단을 경험한 원로들에 의해서 이루어지는 문학 내외적 영역의 확장에,『文學』의 ‘젊은 세대를 위한 젊은 세대에 의한 젊은이’의 문학잡지가 끼어들 틈이 없음은 물론이다. 문학(문단) 상황에서 생존하는 방법은 기성 주도세력으로의 편입이다. 기존 문학 매체들이 문학이념의 헤게모니를 장악하고 문학 권력을 재생산하고 있는 상황에서『文學』은 자진 폐간하고 희곡『流氓』은 미완의 텍스트로 남게 된다. 미완의 희곡 流氓은 이병주가 1945년 9월과 1946년 3월 사이 상해에서 창작한 최초의 희곡작품이며, 그 내용은 아편과 도박을 중심으로한 소비 향락지역인 상해공공조계에서 하숙집을 운영하는 러시아 가족들과 하숙생들, 일본 헌병들 사이에 일어난 사건을 다루고 있다. 이러한 사건을 텍스트는 청춘남녀의 개인적인 사건과 항일운동의 참여/거부에 관련된 동시대 사회적 사건을 기본 축으로 하여 서로 얽혀 있는 것으로 다루고 있다. 이러한 개인적 애정사건과 동시대적 사회사건이 지배적 줄거리로 진행되다가 서로 얽히는 사건전개는 이병주의 문학세계, 특히 소설텍스트의 기본 구조를 이루고 있다. 이것은 희곡의 일반적인 구성과 달리 텍스트는 중심적인 것은 사건의 전체적 전개가 아니라 그것을 이끌어 가는 인물의 형상화이며, 사건 중심적인 구조가 아니라 인물 중심적인 구조를 가지고 있다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 희곡『流氓』은 사건 구조 보다는 형상화된 인물에 초점을 두고 창작된 것으로서 그의 소설텍스트의 기본 사건 구조를 이루고 있는 창작방법의 출발 지점에 위치하고 있다. 끝으로 무엇보다도 중요한 것은『文學』의 폐간으로 사라진 희곡 『流氓』(하)를 찾아서 텍스트를 복원하는 것이다. 이러한 텍스트의 전체 복원이 이루어지지 않고서는 계속적인 연구는 불가능하다. This paper research materials on the Lee Byung-joo’s dramatic text Umeng. Also This paper explain the creation and structure of text together. The result of analysis can be summarized as follows. 1) The Dramatic Text was published by a literary magazine “MoonHak”(Literature). Moon Hak’s intention is of the young, by the young, for the young. And Moon Hak uphold the sprit of the SinJo Moon Hak. 2) Various and multiple works of art, for example Literature, paintings, drama, modern arts were printed in this magazine. So Lee Byung-joo’s dramatic text Umin was printed, published. 3) At the time, the forces of vested interest in literary can not permit this magazine Moon Hak to take part in the world of Literature. This magazine Moon Hak intend to include the forces of vested interest in literary. Senior members of literary circles protect their vested rights and transfer is denied. A literary magazine Moon Hak is discontinued. The dramatic text Umeng become incomplete text. 4) In the sub textual aspect, Umin was the first dramatic work of Lee Byung-joo, was created in Shanghai from September 1945 to March 1946. The content is Opium and gambling among Russian family, student boarder, Japan MP. 5) In the main textual aspect, Umeng was the case of the two Ravel. One is a personal affection of both sexes youth, the other is first and foremost, with the participation of the movement rejected. The case of personal events and social entanglements is the basic structure of Lee’s literary works. That is his creative methodology The most important thing to the end is Incomplete restore of the text.

Analgesic Effect of Manual Acupuncture and Electroacupuncture combined with Twirling Method. Proceeding of International Symposium on East-West Medicine Seoul. 187-200, 1999.-Twirling the needle (TN) is one of several needing methods frequently used for acupuncture in the oriental medicine. The present study was conducted to see if TN enhanced the antinociceptive effect produced by plain-or electroacupuncture in the rat tail flick test. Rats (Sprague-Dawley, 200-300g)lightly anesthetized with thiopental sodium(40mg/kg, i.p.) were used in the tail-flick test. The basal reaction time for tail-flick was 2 sec. For "plain" acupuncture(PA), a needle was inserted for 20 min into a Chock-samni (ST36) acupuncture point which (is located at the anterior tibial muscle and about 10mm below the knee joint). For electroacupuncture(EA), train-pulses(3 Hz,0.3-ms pulse width, 0.2-0.3mA) were applied to the inserted needle for the period of insertion. For combining TN with either PA or EA, TN was performed during the each acupuncture period. Two methods for TN were used; twirling 3 times for 1 second persisted for 1 min in every 5 mins(long-duration and long-interval;LDLI) and twirling 3 times for 1 second persisted for 10 sec in every 1 min(short-duration and short-interval;SDSI). PA and EA produced an increase in tail flick latency (TFL); peak increases were 21.3±5.1% and 42.1±17.3% of the pre-acupunture control, respectively, and occurred immediately after cessation of 20min-acupuncture. Performing TN combined with PA increased TFL more than PA itself by showing a greater peak increase in TFL when performed with a SDSI-TN than with a LDLI-TN(60.6±12.5% and 42.7±22.7% of the pre-acupuncture control, respectively). Performing TN combined with EA also increased TFL more than EA itself and a greater peak increase in TFL was observed with a SDSI-TN as compared to a LDLI-TN(77.5±13.8% and 67.3±14.0% of the pre-acupuncture control, respectively). These results indicate that TN enhances both PA-and EA-produced antinociception where an greater enhanced antinociception than a LDLI-TN. It is suggested that performing a SDSI-TN combined with EA seems to be one of the most effective ways to produce analgesia.

      • 고밀도 플라즈마를 이용한 YMnO_3 박막의 건식 식각 특성

        본 연구에서는 YMnO_3 박막을 유도결합 플라즈마 (ICP : inductively coupled plasma)와 Cl_2/Ar 가스를 이용하여 식각하였다. 최대 식각율은 1.0의 Cl_2/(Cl_2+Ar) 가스 혼합비, 600W의 rf 전력, -200 V의 직류 바이어스 전압, 15 mTorr의 반응로 압력 및 25 ℃의 기판 온도에서 285A˚/min이었다. 완충층으로 사용되는 CeO_2, Y_2O_3와 전극 물질인 Pt, 마스크 물질인 PR (photoresist)와의 선택비는 각각 2.85, 1.72, 0.45, 0.06이었다. 식각된 YMnO_3 박막 표면에서의 화학반응을 알아보기 위해서 XPS (x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy)와 SIMS (secondary ion mass spectrometry) 분석을 수행하였다. Y은 Cl 라티칼과의 화학적인 반응에 의해 주로 제거되는 반면, Mn은 Ar 이온에 의한 물리적인 스퍼터링에 의해 주로 식각된다. SEM (scanning electron microscopy)을 통해 식각 단면을 분석하여 약 65°의 식각 기울기와 측벽에 잔류물이 없는 것을 확인하였다. Ferroelectric YMnO_3 thin films are excellent dielectric materials for high integrated ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) with metal-ferroelectric-silicon field effect transistor (MFSFET) structure. In this study, YMnO_3 thin films were etched with Cl_2/Ar gas chemistries in inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The maximum etch rate of YMnO_3 thin films is 285A˚/min under Cl_2/Ar of 10/0, 600 W/-200 V and 15 mTorr. The selectivities of YMnO_3 over CeO_2 and Y_2O_3 are 2.85, 1.72, respectively. The results of x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) reflect that Y is removed dominantly by chemical reaction between Y and Cl, while Mn is removed more effective by Ar ion bombardment than chemical reaction. The results of secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS) were equal to these of XPS. The etch profile of the etched YMnO_3 film is approximately 65° and free of residues at the sidewall.

        Fast Eating Speed Increases the Risk of Endoscopic Erosive Gastritis in Korean Adults

        Background: Fast eating or overeating can induce gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis. However, the association between gastritis and speed of eating is unclear. The aim of this study was to determine whether eating speed is associated with increased risk of endoscopic erosive gastritis (EEG). Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional study involving 10,893 adults who underwent a general health checkup between 2007 and 2009. Two groups, EEG patients and EEG-free patients, were compared by using the t-test and the chi-square test. Multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to investigate the association between eating speed and EEG. Results: The group with EEG had a higher proportion of males, average age, body mass index, and percentages of current smokers and risky drinkers than those without EEG. After adjusting for anthropometric, social, and endoscopic parameters, the group with the highest eating speed (<5 min/meal) had 1.7 times higher risk for EEG than the group with the lowest eating speed (≥15 min/meal) (odds ratio, 1.71; 95% confidence interval, 1.20–2.45). Conclusion: High eating speed is an independent risk factor for EEG. Our results indicate the need for further studies to clarify the role of eating speed in gastritis.

      • 마그네타이트의 合成과 二酸化炭素의 메탄化에 關한 硏究

        황산제1철(FeSO₄7H₂O)과 수산화나트륨(NaOH) 용액에 혼합 당량비(R=2NaOH/FeSO₄)에 따라 혼합한 후 air bubbling을 통해 마그네타이트(Magnetite, Fe₃O₄)의 합성 최적조건을 조사하였다. 생성된 물질을 XRD분석, SEM관찰에 의해 검토하였고, BET surface area 측정을 하였다. 당량비가 1이하일 때는(R<1) 지오타이트(goethite, α-FeOOH)가 합성되었고 당량비가 1이상일 때는(R<1) 마그네타이트(Fe₃O₄)가 직접 합성되었다. 합성한 마그네타이트(Fe₃O₄)와 이 Fe₃O₄ 합성시에 NiCl₂를 0.01vol(%) 첨가한 시료를 수소가스로 350℃에서 4시간 동안 100ml/min 로흘려 환원시켜 산소결함마그네타이트(Fe₃O?)를 만들었다. 이것을 이용하여 이산화탄소(CO₂)의 분해반응을 조사하였다. 이산화탄소는 산소결함마그네타이트(Fe₃O?)에 의해 45분내에 거의 100% 분해되었다. 반응후 산소결함마그네타이트(Fe3O?) 표면에 탄소가 석출되어 있었으며, 이것을 650℃에서 수소가스와 반응 시켜 메탄(CH₄)으로 되었음을 확인 하였다. The optimum conditions were studied for the formation of Magnetite (Fe₃O₄) by air bubbling. The suspensions obtained by mixing Ferrous sulfate (FeSO₄ · 7H₂O) and S-odium Hydroxide (NaOH) solution in various values equivalent ratio(R=2NaOH/FeSO₄). The oxidation product were then examined X-ray diffraction. SEM, BET surface area determination. Equivalent ratio less 1 (R<1) formed Goethite (α-FeOOH) and equivalent ratio excess 1 (R<1) magnetite (Fe₃O₄) is formed directly. The oxygen-deficit magnetite (Fe₃O?), which is obtained by flowing H₂ gas (100ml/min) through the synthesis magnetite added NiCl₂ 0.01 vol(5) at 350℃ for 4hr. CO₂ decomposition for the oxygen-deficient magnetite nearly 100% (in 45min of the reaction time) at 350℃. These elemental carbon on the surface of the oxygen-deficient magnetite were found to be readily into CH₄ by the reaction with H₂gas at 650℃.

      • 증식당뇨망막증에서 아르곤레이저 광응고술의 치료 효과

        Vitreous hemorrhage, which is the major cause of blindness in proliferative diabetic retinopathy, has been prevented clinically with laser photocoagulation. We reviewed 57 cases(98 eyes) of proliferative diabetic retinopathy which were treated by argon laser and followed up for more than 6 months. Of these 98 eyes, 81 eyes(83%) showed a satisfactory response after standard panretinal photocoagulation. 14 eyes(14%) revealed the vitreous hemorrhage after panretinal photocoagulation and higher incidence of vitreous hemorrhage in the cases of new vessel on the optic disc. In the cases(26 eyes) of new vessel on the optic disc, 2000 laser burns revealed lower incidence of vitreous hemorrhage(1/5, 20%) in comparison with 1500 laser burns(8/21, 38%). These results indicate that initial augmented laser therapy prevented the vitreous hemorrhage effectively.
