A chiral alkoxybiphenyl benzoate ferroelectric liquid crystals were designed and synthesized via 6 steps. Chiral benzoic acid derivatives were synthesized by esterification of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid with 2-chloro-3-methylpentanoyl chloride and 2-chloro-4-methylpentanoyl chloride obtained from the corresponding L-leucine and L-isoluecine. Final products, alkoxybiphenyl benzoate series were synthesized by chiral benzoic acid derivatives with 4-almoxybiphenyl-4-ol obrained from the alkybromide and 4, 4'-dihydroxybipheyl. Two subjects, Science teaching method and Study of the subject matters, are established to let students have the ability to teach the elementary science. It is an overwthelming view that Science teaching method course are merely divided into the above-mentioned two subjects by the elevation from the junior college to the senior one. But the authors discussed this theme on the junior college to the senior one. But the authors discussed this theme on the viewpoint that Study of the subject matters, newly established, is the result reflecting the significance of the elevation, not just the division of Science teaching method course inaugurated in the junior college period. The subject matters in the elementary school should include the fundamental concepts to attain the goal of the subject. That is, the subject matters should include the learning contents with the educational significance. Therefore, Study of the subject matters is defined as studying what these contents may signify educationally. From these points of view, Study of the subject matters is: 1) the study intended for the subject matters of the elementary school. That is ① what the fundamental concepts are, ② how they are related each other, ③ what their educational significance is. 2) to study the educational significance of the other subject contents. 3) a study for establishing the pertinent goal and selecting the subject matters to attain this goal when the educational conditions, such as the actual state and environment of children, are given. The authors discussed about article 1) in this paper.
Sutterella faecalis sp. nov., isolated from human faeces

An obligately anaerobic, Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, non-spore-forming, and coccobacilli-shaped bacterial strain, designated KGMB03119T, was isolated from human faeces from a Korean. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that the isolate was a member of the genus Sutterella and most closely related to Sutterlla wadsworthensis KCTC 15691T (96.8% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity). The DNA G + C content of strain KGMB03119T was 58.3 mol% as determined from its whole genome sequence. Strain KGMB03119T was asaccharolytic, catalase-positive, oxidase- and urease-negative. Furthermore, the isolate was positive for alkaline phosphatase, leucine arylamidase, acid phosphatase, arginine arylamidase, alanine arylamidase, and glycine arylamidase. The major cellular fatty acids (> 10%) of the isolate were C18:1ω9c and C16:0. Methylmenaquinone-5 (MMK-5, 100%) was the predominant isoprenoid quinone in the isolate. Based on the phylogenetic, physiological, and chemotaxonomic characteristics, strain KGMB03119T represents a novel species, for which the name Sutterella faecalis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KGMB03119T (= KCTC 15823T = NBRC 114254T).
Cone-beam computed tomography of mandibular foramen and lingula for mandibular anesthesia

Purpose: The positions of the mandibular foramen (MnF) and the lingula affect the success rate of inferior alveolar nerve block. The objective of this study was to investigate aspects of the MnF and the lingula relevant for mandibular block anesthesia using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Fifty CBCT scans were collected from a picture archiving and communications system. All scans were taken using an Alphard Vega 3030 (Asahi Roentgen Co. Ltd., Kyoto, Japan). Fifty-eight MnFs of 30 subjects were included in the study. The position of the MnF, the size of the MnF, the position of the lingula, the size of the lingula, and the shape of the lingula were measured and recorded. All data were statistically analyzed at a significance level of P<0.05. Results: The position of MnF was 0.1 mm and 0.8 mm below the occlusal plane in males and females, respectively. The horizontal position of the MnF was slightly anterior to the center of the ramus in males and in the center in females (P<0.05). The vertical position of the MnF was lower in females than in males (P<0.05). The MnF was an oval shape with a longer anteroposterior dimension. The height of the lingula was 9.3 mm in males and 8.2 mm in females. The nodular type was the most common shape of the lingula, followed by the triangular, truncated, and assimilated types. Conclusion: CBCT provided useful information about the MnF and lingula. This information could improve the success rate of mandibular blocks.

Circulant Feedback Delay Networks (CFDN's), whose feedback matrix is circulant to control the stability of system and time-frequency response easier than unitary one, were recently proposed. However, the drawback of this structure is that the flatness of the frequency response of CFDN's is not enough and it is difficult to adjust the placement of zeros to decrease this problem. Therefore, we propose Modified CFDN's (MCFDN's) consisted of a general recursive filter and CFDN's to maintain maximally the impulse response of CFDN's and improve the flatness of frequency response without adjusting the placement of zeros. The delay unit of a general recursive filter's feedback loop is replaced by CFDN's, are omitted the direct path. We represent the usefulness of MCFDN's to build artificial reverberators and the main parameter to determine characteristics of MCFDN's in this paper.
확장 가능한 고가용 데이터베이스에서 네트워크 비용을 줄이기 위한 변형된 분할기법

최근 전자상거래와 같은 웹 기반 응용프로그램에서는 높은 가용성과 확장성을 가지며 빠른 응답시간을 갖는 데이터베이스에 대한 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이러한 요구에 대한 해결책의 하나로 비공유 구조의 클러스터 시스템을 구성하고 분할과 복제정책을 사용한다. 즉, 해쉬함수나 범위값에 의해 분할하여 여러 노드에 분산 시키고 서로 다른 노드에 마스터와 백업을 두어 가용성을 높이고 있다. 그러나 기존의 방법은 하나의 갱신 질의에 대해서 마스터와 백업에 각각 질의를 보내주어야 하고 온라인 확장시에는 모든 마스터와 백업의 데이터가 재구성되어야 하므로 네트워크 비용이 크다는 문제점이 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이러한 네트워크 비용을 줄이기 위한 변형된 분할 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법에서 마스터는 기존의 기법과 동일한 방법으로 저장하나 백업은 네트워크를 통해 지정된 노드로 포워딩을 하지 않고 질의를 받은 서버에 그대로 저장함으로써 클러스터를 구성하는 노드 사이에 통신 비용을 줄인다. 또한 온라인 확장에서는 기존의 기법과 달리 백업데이터는 같은 서버의 마스터테이터와 중복되는 것만 이동시킴으로써 데이터 이동비용을 줄이며, 전체 트랜잭션 처리링을 높인다.
