This study attempted to determine the effects of a cooperative and cognitive group therapy compared to individual therapy in 24 aphasic subjects. Two dependent variables were measured overall language performance, functional communication skills. 18 subjects with different types and severity of aphasia participated in the group therapy. 6 aphasic subjects participated in the individual therapy and they functioned as a control group. The subjects were ranged from 27 to 59 years in age. The group therapy using the cooperative learning utilized the following procedures. First, 6 aphasics constituted 1 group where each subject performed a task and they monitored one another. Second, 2 aphasics consisted 1 group and they cooperated to perform a task. Third, 3 groups with 2 aphasics in a group competed one another in a task where the 2 aphasics had to cooperated. Finally, the investigator gave the feedback to the group and she and the subjects discussed the overall procedures of the therapy. The above mentioned 2 tests were administered pre- and post-treatment. A repeated two-way ANOVA was performed for analysis. The results showed that the group therapy was more effective in improving overall language performance as compared to the individual therapy. And, the group therapy was more effective in increasing functional communication skills as compared to the individual therapy.
강도별 운동 전·후 혈청 LDH, 및 CK의 활성도 변화

The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of Creatine Kinase(CK) and Lactate Dehydrogenase(LDH) activity following different exercise intensities. Each subject(N=G) performed 30min's running with different exercise intensities- 10% VO₂max, 60%VO₂max, 80VO₂max - using treadmill. To measure the blood concentration of CK and LDH, we collected blood three times - pre-exercise, post-exercise and 30min after cessation of exercise. Using this experimental method. following results were obtained; First, There was significant difference between pre- and post-exercise CK concentration in 40%VO₂max exercise group and 60%VO₂max exercise group(p<.05), but no significant difference in 80%VO₂max exercise group. Second, There was no significant difference between pre- and post-exercise LDH concentration in 40%VO₂max exercise group and 60%VO₂max exercise group. but significant difference in 80%VO₂max exercise group. This result suggested that the concentration of CK and LDH following exercise depend on exercise intensities.

Increased Plasma Nitric Oxide Metabolites in Suicide Attempters

<P><I>Objective:</I> To evaluate any correlation between plasma levels of nitric oxide metabolites (NO<SUB>x</SUB>) and suicide attempt. <I>Method:</I> Plasma NO<SUB>x</SUB> levels were measured in 53 patients who had recently attempted suicide, 58 nonsuicidal psychiatric patients, and 75 normal controls. The severity of suicidal behaviors was evaluated using Weisman and Worden’s Risk-Rescue Rating Scale. <I>Results:</I> Plasma NO<SUB>x</SUB> levels were significantly higher in suicidal patients than nonsuicidal psychiatric patients or normal control subjects (F = 11.029, d.f. = 2, 183, p < 0.001). Among the patients with a diagnosis of major depression, suicidal depressive patients had significantly higher plasma NO<SUB>x</SUB> levels than nonsuicidal depressive patients (t = -3.090, d.f. = 84, p = 0.003). <I>Conclusion:</I> Our study suggests that increased NO production in plasma is associated with suicide attempt, especially in depressive patients.</P><P>Copyright © 2006 S. Advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is difficult to treat and the survival is poor. Here, we present a patient diagnosed as advanced HCC (stage IIIa) which was supervening with early renal cell cancer (stage I). The patient was treated with pre-operational transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and surgical resection (right hepatectomy, right nephrectomy, and cholecystectomy). Sorafenib were taken continually after surgery. Multiple recurred HCC nodules in remnant liver were detected 2 months later after surgery. Combined treatment modalities including 4 sessions of TACE, and 12 cycles of 5-flurouracil (FU)/carboplatin based hepatic arterial infusional chemotherapy (HAIC) induced complete response. After the diagnosis of advanced HCC, the patient survived 36 months and experienced disease-free status for 19 months.

Their catalytic activities were evaluated for the polymerization of ethylene. The complexes combined with MAO can be highly active single site catalysts, which display activities comparable with that of the Cp<SUB>2</SUB>ZrCl<SUB>2</SUB>/MAO system and provide very high molecular weight polyethylenes. 정신분열증 환자에서 낮병원 치료가 약물 유지치료에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the day-hospital treatment for the schizophrenic patients through the evaluation of maintenance drug dosage. In order to do this, subject group were composed of thirty patients with day hospital treatment and psycho-pharmacotherapy, whereas the controlled group had only psychophamacotherapy. The ratio of drug dosage change were compared between these two groups at the time of baseline, after three month, six months, and nine months. Baseline time for subject group was defined as the time when the patients was transferred to day-hospital treatment after hospital discharge. The controlled is the time when the paients started to have only outpatient treatment after hospital discharge. The results were as follows ; 1) For the first three months, the comparing the ratio of drug dosage change between subject and control groups was significantly decreased (p < 0.005). 2) From three to six months, there were no significant difference of drug dosage between two groups. 3) From six to nine months, subject group was also significantly decreased in drug dosage(p<0.05). In conclusion, day hospital schizophrenic patients with active psychosocial program are expected to have successful social rehabilitation, because active day hospital program is possible to reduce maintenance dosage without drug-induced side effect.
강도 및 음도 조절을 이용한 훈련이 파킨슨병 환자의 음성 및 발화명료도 개선에 미치는 효과 : A Case Study

The purpose of this study was to examine the effcts of manipulation loudness and pitch in terms of speech intelligibility and voice of a patient with Parkinson's Disease. The subject, who was diagnosed as a patient with Parkinson's disease 11 years ago, demonstrated a severely breath voice with low intensity. The accuracy of articulatiion in consonants was intelligible only at the single word level, and the overall intelligibility in continuous speech was low. The results showed that the subject's articulation accuracy and speech intelligibility was significantly improved after having loudness and pitch training. Habitual Fo, Jitter, Shimmer, Fo tremor, Amp tremor were decreased after training. In addition, the value of HNR also increased after training. It was shown that the changes of these acoustic parameters were closely related to the decrease of breathiness in Parkinson's voice, and this decrease of breathiness affected speech intelligibility considerably. Based on the experimental results, it was claimed that the vocal training by manipulating the loudness and pitch could be highly effective in improving the voice quality and speech intelligibility in parkinson's Disease.
