Forecasting Fish Communities in River Networks
( Brenda Rashleigh ),( Denis White ),( Joe L. Ebersole ),( Craig Barber ),( George Boxall ),( Allen Brookes ) 한국하천호수학회 2012 생태와 환경 Vol.45 No.2
Fish communities in river networks provide significant ecosystem services that will likely decline under future land use and climate change. We eveloped a model that simulates the consequences to multiple populations of one or more fish species-a metacommunity-from multiple stressors across a river network. The model is spatiallyexplicit and age-structured, with three components: habitat suitability; population dynamics, including species interactions; and movement across a spatial network. Although this model is simple, it can form the basis of fisheries assessments and may be incorporated into an integrated modeling system for watershed management and prediction.
Digital Marketing of Cotton to Generation Y College Students
Brenda Avila,Jay-Sang Ryu 한국유통과학회 2015 유통과학연구 Vol.13 No.7
Purpose – Gen Y college students have emerged as a profitable consumer segment because of their growing purchasing power and influence on others’ buying decisions. Digital marketing is deemed effective in increasing Gen Y college students’ knowledge of and interest in products and services. This research examined the effect of digital marketing on Gen Y college students’perceptions, attitudes and purchase intentions toward cotton clothing compared to that of conventional print marketing and no marketing. Research design, Date and Methodology -Data were collected from three different groups of college students from a large university in the U.S.: the group with no cotton marketing, those with print media marketing, and those with digital marketing. Result - The findings confirmed that college students who were exposed to cotton digital marketing displayed the highest level of agreement on the benefits of cotton clothing. They also exhibited the most favorable attitudes and strongest purchase intentions toward cotton clothing. Conclusions – To target Gen Y consumers effectively, marketers should consider a digital marketing strategy to promote their products and services.
Biological assessment of streams and rivers in U.S. - design, methods, and analysis
Brenda Rashleigh,Steve Paulson,Joe Flotemersch,Peg Pelletier 한국생태학회 2013 Journal of Ecology and Environment Vol.36 No.1
Bioassessment is the use of biosurvey data, most commonly for benthic macroinvertebrates and fish, to obtain information about the health of waters in a region. In rivers, bioassessment results are used to evaluate biological condition and trends, to establish relationships between stressors and impairments, and to guide and evaluate management actions.
Singapore s Chinatown:Nation Building and Heritage Tourism in a Multiracial City
Brenda S. A. Yeoh,Lily Kong 부산대학교 한국민족문화연구소 2012 Localities Vol.- No.2
This paper focuses on the pivotal role played by the state in refashioning the Chinatown landscape as part of both nation-building and heritage tourism projects, and the ensuing cultural politics. After a brief history of the creation of Singapore’s Chinatown, the paper discusses, first, Chinatown’s place in Singapore’s post-independence nation-building project and, second, the reconfiguration of the Chinatown landscape as a tourism asset. The final section reflects on the changing politics of place as Chinatown gains legitimacy in state discourses on heritage, tourism and multiculturalism, as well as in the popular imagination as an ethnic precinct par excellence.
