“Some Old Dream of Kingship”: Christopher Brennan’s Poems (1913) and Modernism’s Place

Australian poetry rarely plays a role in academic narratives about the origins of English-language literary modernism. This essay spotlights Christopher Brennan’s italies (1913) as an example of a text that deserves more widespread attention. Its author recoils from the historical processes pushing Australia to separate from Britain, and he recognizes that the “old dream of kingship,” the colonial imaginary, cannot be sustained intact and inviolate. He responds by withdrawing from the world and self-reflexively? exalting the book as the only place the old magic can survive. Modernism, in this scenario, is born through evasion, displacement, and escape. What saves italies-what insures that it is more than retro-imperial escapism--is its thorough-going disruptive, broken texture. The act of imagination necessary to reject decolonization wrenches language until it becomes strange and new.
운동형상학적 지표와 운동역학적 지표에 의한 뇌졸중환자의 동작관찰 보행특성 연구

이 연구는 뇌졸중환자 20명을 대상으로 동작관찰 보행훈련을 실시하여 운동형상학적 지표와 운동역학적 지표를 비교하여 의미를 알아보았다. 대상자는 일반 보행훈련군 10명과 동작관찰 보행훈련군 10명으로 무작위 추출하였다. 동작관찰 보행훈련군은 정상보행 비디오 영상을 시청하고 보행훈련을 실시하였고, 일반 보행훈련군은 비디오 영상 시청 없이 보행훈련을 실시하였다. 주 3회 6주간 진행하였고, 실험 전과 후에 평가 하였다. 그 결과 운동형상학적 지표에서 일반 보행훈련군은 디딤기에서 무릎관절의 밖굽이와 흔듦기에서 무릎관절의 굽힘에만 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.05). 이에 반해 동작관찰 보행훈련군은 디딤기의 골반 기울임, 가쪽기울임, 돌림, 엉덩관절 굽힘, 돌림, 무릎관절 돌림, 발목관절 등쪽굽힘, 안굽이, 돌림에서 유의한 차이를 보였고(p<.05), 흔듦기에서 골반 기울임, 가쪽기울임, 돌림, 엉덩관절 굽힘, 벌림, 돌림, 무릎관절 굽힘, 밖굽이에서 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.05). 운동역학적 지표에서 동작관찰 보행훈련군에서는 엉덩관절, 무릎관절, 발목관절의 모멘트와 작업률에 유의한 차이를 보였고(p<.05), 일반 보행훈련군은 차이가 없었다(p>.05). 이상의 결과로 신경학적 손상을 가진 뇌졸중환자의 인지기능을 바탕으로 감각적 자극을 통한 운동학습이 뇌가소성을 촉진시켜 적절한 움직임의 기능을 향상시킬 수 있었고, 동작관찰 훈련은 손상된 뇌 영역의 활성화를 간접적으로 규명하는 결과를 나타내었다. 이후 연구에서는 동작관찰 훈련 프로그램의 수준과 과제수행의 다양화를 모색해야 할 것이며, 훈련 프로그램의 일반화를 위해 지속적인 연구가 있어야 할 것이다. This study performed action observation gait training(AOGT) on gait for 20 stroke patients and examined resulting kinematic and kinetic parameters. The subjects were randomly grouped into a general gait training(GGT) group with 10 people and a AOGT group with 10 people. The AOGT group watched a video of normal walking before gait training and the GGT group started gait training without watching it. The training lasted for 6 weeks, 3 times a week and kinematic and kinetic parameters were checked both before and after the training experiment. As a result, the GGT group showed significant differences only in the valgus of knee in the stance phase and the knee flexion in the swing phase(p<.05). The AOGT group presented significant differences in the pelvic tilt, pelvic lateral tilt, pelvic rotation, hip flexion, hip rotation, knee rotation, ankle dorsiflexion, ankle varus, and ankle rotation(p<.05) in the stance phase. Also the group showed significant differences in the plvic tilt, pelvic lateral tilt, pelvic rotation, hip flexion, hip abduction, hip rotation, knee flexion and valgus(p<.05) in the swing phase. AOGT showed significant differences moment and power of hip joint, knee joint, ankle joint(p<.05) but, GGT not significant. The research experiment found that, based on the cognitive function of stroke patients with neurological indisposition, motor learning through sensory stimulations facilitated brain plasticity and improved proper functions of motion and the AOGT indirectly identified stimulated brain activities. The researchers expect that future studies should explore how to improve and diversify AOGT programs. More studies should continue for further training program generalization.

Objective : This study analyzed the relationship between prognosis and multiple clinical factors of ruptured middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysm with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), to aid in predicting the results of surgical treatment. Methods : Enrolled subjects were 41 patients with ruptured MCA aneurysm with ICH who were treated with surgical clipping. Clinical factors such as gender, age, and initial Glasgow coma scale were assessed while radiological factors such as the volume and location of hematoma, the degree of a midline shift, and aneurysm size were considered retrospectively. Prognosis was evaluated postoperatively by Glasgow outcome scale. Results : Age and prognosis were correlated only in the groups with ICH over 31 mL or ICH at the frontal lobe or sylvian fissure. When initial mental status was good, only patients with ICH on the temporal lobe had a better prognosis. If the midline shift was less than 4.5 mm, the probability of better prognosis was 95.5% (21 of 22). If the midline shift was more than 4.5 mm, the probability of poor prognosis was 42.1% (8 of 19). Patients with ICH less than 31 mL had higher survival rates, whereas if the ICH was more than 31 mL, 41.2% (7 of 17) had a poor clinical pathway. Conclusion : Even if the initial clinical condition of the patient was not promising, by carefully examining and taking into account all factors, neurosurgeons can confidently recommend surgical treatment for these patients.

In present study, a fluid-structure interaction (FSI) approach is proposed for predicting the effects of roughness on the performance of hydrodynamically lubricated three-dimensional (3D) journal bearing, taking mechanical deformation effects. The multi-phase cavitation mass flow conservation model is adopted, in which the phase change boundary condition is allowable. The results show that the mechanical deformation effect on bearing performance has been confirmed to be substantial. When the deformation of the structure is considered in calculating the change of film thickness, the bearings carry less load (i.e. 30-70 % smaller depending on the surface roughness value) as compared to the case in which the deformation is neglected. It is also highlighted that the hydrodynamic pressure and load support decrease with surface roughness.
