Vitamin D and carotid subclinical atherosclerosis in SLE Chang-Bum Bae, Ju-Yang Jung, Bo-ram Go, Hyun-Ah Kim, Chang-Hee Suh Department of Rheumatology, Ajou University School of Medicine, Suwon, Korea Introduction Atherosclerosis develops earlier in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and is the important cause of mortality. It has been suggested that vitamin D deficiency contributed cardiovascular disease and immune dysregulation in SLE. Methods One-hundred two female patients with SLE and 52 normal controls (NC) were recruited. The carotid artery intima-media thickness (cIMT) and plague were assessed by B-mode ultrasound at the carotid artery level. Vitamin 25(OH)D3 levels were checked by immunoradiometric assay using the Bio-Line 25(OH)D3-Ria CT kit (Bio-Line S.A., Belgium). Disease activity markers were checked at the time of enrollment. Results The cIMT of SLE is 0.41±0.08mm, which is higher than NC (0.37±0.11 mm, p=0.012). Also, carotid artery plague index (PI) of SLE is higher than NC (0.68±1.39 vs 0.26±0.87, p=0.026). The cIMT was correlated with age (r=0.442, p<0.001), body mass index (r=0.246, p=0.013), waist-hip ratio (r=0.245, p=0.013), SLE disease activity index (r=0.239, p=0.016), taking aspirin (r=0.244, p=0.013), and the carotid artery PI was correlated with renal involvement (r=0.224, p=0.023) in patients with SLE. Vitamin 25(OH)D3 was not showed correlation with cIMT and carotid artery PI. Also, it was not correlated with disease activity markers. Conclusion In patients with SLE, the risk of cardiovascular disease measured by cIMT and carotid artery plaque was higher than NC, which may be derived from systemic inflammation. However, vitamin D levels were not showed significant correlations with carotid subclinical atherosclerosis. It may be not suitable to assess vitamin D as marker of disease activity or subclinical atherosclerosis.

경쟁적인 RT-PCR에 의한 흰쥐 뇌 c-fos 유전자의 발현 양상 분석

자극에 따른 흰쥐 뇌 c-fos 유전자 발현 변화 양을 정량적으로 검출하기 위하여, 저자들은 선조체, 대뇌피질, 해마, 및 소뇌에서 조직을 취하였다. 흰쥐에서 분리된 각각의 뇌 조직에 RT-PCR 반을을 수행하였다. 뇌 조직에 따른 전체 RNA당 각각 발현된 c-fos Mrna 양은 소뇌가 143, 대뇌피질이 24, 해마가 38, 그리고 선조체가 44 atto mole/㎍이었다. In order to detect the quantitative amount of change of c-fos gene expression after stimuli in the rat's brain, the author obtained brain specimens from the striatum, cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and cerebellum. Each brain was removed from the rat, then RT-PCR was perfromed. Each amount of c-fos expressed mRNA per total RNA was cerebellum 143, cerebral cortex 24, hippocampus 28, and striatum 44 amole/㎍, respectively.

接着布의 굽힘剛性에 관한 硏究

In order to predict the bending rigidity of composite fabric, we derived the equations calculating bendin rigidity, when the bending rigidity of face fabric and interlining base cloth, their thickness, the size of dot and the density of dot were given. And then we compared the equations with the experiment. As the important structural parameters we considered three shapes of dot, i.e., circular, square and triangular shape, respectively. The results of this study are as following; 1. When the shape of dot is circular, square and triangular, the equation predicting bending rigidity of composite fabric matches well with the experimental value in certain range. 2. In the case of same size and density of dot, the bending rigidities of composite fabric are almost the same without regard to any shape of dot. 3. With the same total area of dots in unit area, the bonding rigidities of composite fabric are almost the same without regard to the number of dot.

RAPD법을 이용한 양파품종(Allium cepa L.)간의 유전변이와 유연관계분석

This study was carried out to investigate genetic variation and relationships among onion varieties, Allium cepa L., by RAPD-PCR analysis. In the test of 120 primers with 58 onion varieties collected from local and abroad, eight primers turned out to be useful for further analysis. These primers eventually provided a total of 71 bands, consisting of 68 polymorphic and three monomorphic ones. The polymorphic bands were subjected to phylogenetic analysis using NTSYS and PAUP computer programs. In the NTSYS analysis, similarity coefficient of the 58 onion varieties ranged from 0 to 0.9179 and that of 27 varieties with obvious origin ranged from 0.0306 to 0.9032, The dendrogram of 58 varieties obtained by NTSYS analysis resulted in 15 groups, but overall groupings were not consistent with bulb phenotypes (e.g., color, weight, and shape) or origin of the varieties either In the PAUP analysis, genetic divergence of the 58 onion varieties ranged from 0.042 to 0.532 and that of 27 varieties with obvious origin ranged from 0.042 to 0.394. Phylogenetic analysis using PAUP revealed 13 group with 58 varieties and nine group with 27 varieties, but these were not consistent with any bulb phenotypes or origin either, as seen in the NTSYS analysis.

서울시내 고등학교 위탁급식의 급식비와 투자비의 실태 및 위탁업체의 기대수준 비교 분석

The purposes of this study were to a) find out the operational characteristics of the contract-managed highschool foodservice in Seoul, b) investigate the expected level of meal-price and facilities investment cost perceived by contract-managed highschool foodservice managers c) compare the present level and expected level of meal-price and facilities investment cost. From October 12 to November 13 in 2001, the questionnaires were mailed to 249 high schools which was managed by contract foodservice company with respondent rate 40.2%. Data were analyzed using SPSS Win(10.0) for descriptive analysis and one group paired t-test. The results of this study were as follows ; 1. The student enrollment of highschools run by contract-managed foodservice was 1,243 with 72.6% participation rate of school lunch program. The average meal-price was 2,138 won. The average annual period of school foodservice operation was 156.78 days per year. The average contracting period was about 3 years. 2. The average cost concerned in the facilities investment amounts 169,578,180 won at the initial investment and 25,204,092 won at the repairs and maintenance cost in the course of operation. 3. The present level of meal-price and facilities investment cost were respectively 2,136won/meal and 171,157,336.72 won. And expected level.of meal-price and amount of facilities investment cost were 2,418.75 won and 121,353,215.19 won. Comparing the present level with expected level of the meal-price and facilities investment cost, expected level of meal-price was significantly higher than the present level of meal-price(p<.001) and expected level of facilities investment cost was significantly lower than present level of facilities investment cost(p<.001).

2個의 rotor가 附着된 回轉軸系에 非線形 復元力을 考慮할 경우 第一, 二共振嶺域에서 發生하는 一般的인 振動特性을 Krylov 및 Bogoljubov 法으로 解析하였고 analog 實驗으로 妥當性을 확인하였다. 定常狀態의 共振曲線 形狀은 偏心의 位相差, 非線形項의 係數 및 減衰係數에 影響을 받으며, 共振嶺域에서의 最大振幅은 特히 偏心의 位相差에 크게 影響을 받게 된다. 主共振嶺域에서 발생하는 不安定區間은 減衰의 增加에 따라 減少하여 消滅하게 된다. 理論解析과 analog 實驗의 結果가 잘 一致함을 確認하였다.

New tradition of Geography in Choson period(1392~1910) was the compilation of regional geographical books(地理志, chinji), The 18th century in particular was the most active period of the compilation of chiriji, and other geographical books. There were the active making and development of various types of local regional geographical books like Yo˘ji toso˘(輿地圖書, 1757~1765 which consists of 55 volume containing almost all the local record of the entire country)ㆍhaedong upji(海東邑誌), the government offical books such as Ch'ugwanji(秋官志˘)ㆍT'akjiji(度支志), and thematic geographical books as Hogu ch'ongsu(戶口總數)ㆍTorogo(道路考)ㆍTongguk munho˘n pi해(東國文獻備考) and so on. Also in the 18th century there was great progress in national and provincial map production, Unlike 16th~17th century the central government took the lead in compiling and publication of these geographical books and maps in that time. Above all numerous county and town maps, and the local geographical books(邑誌, u˘pji) were of great importance for the state to grasp peoples and local communities. These atlases and u˘pji contained rich informations such as population, cultivated land area, mountaines and rivers which is essential to rule the local districts. In the 18th century, the regional policy had been transformed from unequal landuse concentrated on the people. Therefore, the northern regions and the coastal regions including islands become the primary concerned areas. In particular the maps and the geographical books in eighteenth century were actively reflection the concept of regional equity.

直交流中의 官列의 流力彈性振動에 관한 硏究 - Ⅰ 實驗

A basic fluidelastic excitation mechanism causes large whirling vibrations of tubes in model arrays when the flow velocity exceeds a critical value. The nondimensional critical velocity is ?? where ?? the threshold instability constant is a function of the tube pattern and spacing. In this paper, ?? were given that were obtained from experiment on single-row tube array in uniform crossflow. The vibration characteristics of tube array were described as a function of flow velocity.

1950년대 서울番地案內圖와 서울商界略圖에 대한 지도학 및 역사지리학적 고찰

This paper aims to analyze Seoul Address Map published in 1956 and Seoul Commercial Map published in 1955 after Korean War. Two maps are converted into a raster format and partly vectorized to explore the contents of maps in cartographic aspects and advertisement items depicted with the map in historical-geographical aspect. The Seoul Address Map map is being housed at the map library of University of Kansas, while 1955 map at the map library at Yale University. Published by a private company (Daehan Annae Sa), it is different from the previous maps published (luring the period of Japanese conquest. The Seoul Address Map inclined about 45.58˚(stdev= 0.997) for Jongro street and 44.5479 (stdev= 3.031) for Euljiro from the horizontal line while the Seoul Commercial Map has the same inclination with modern digital maps and address Map published in 2001 with north side up. The Seoul Address Map does show less pictorial description for geographic features than Seoul Commercial Map. Seoul Address Map includes 64 advertisements most of which were hospitals, and securities(banking) located in Junggu and Jongrogu. The Commercial Map includes 67 advertisements, of which are other industrial product such as furniture, food and clothes with higher variety than the other map. Maps on Korea are scattered and housed at other countries and antique bookstores need to be monitored and digitalized for further studies for realistic reconstruction of space of genre de vie.
