<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys as biodegradable metallic materials have attracted fundamental research in the field of orthopedics and cardiovascular materials. However, magnesium implants exhibit poor corrosion resistance, especially in the physiological environment, which limits medical applications. To improve the corrosion resistance of the Mg, anodization was applied to an ultra-high concentration of fluoride electrolyte. Then, surface morphology, coating thickness and composition were determined, and the corrosion behavior of anodized Mg alloys was evaluated. The results of coating by anodization showed that a porosity structure with a pore size of 600–900nm and thickness of 1–14μm is generated on the Mg alloy substrate, and this coating component is magnesium fluoride. In electrochemical corrosion tests and immersion corrosion tests, the anodized Mg alloy was tested, and the anodized Mg alloy shows significantly improved corrosion resistance compared with untreated Mg alloy in simulated body fluid (SBF).</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A porous MgF<SUB>2</SUB> coating is created on Mg alloy by anodization in molten fluoride salt. </LI> <LI> The anodizing time is <30s. </LI> <LI> Corrosion resistance of the anodized Mg alloy is obviously improved. </LI> </UL> </P>

A novel monoclonal antibody (mAb), known as AC10364, was identified from an antibody library generated by immunization of mice with human carcinoma cells. The mAb recognized proteins in lysates from multiple carcinoma cell lines. Cell cytotoxicity assays showed that AC10364 significantly inhibited cell growth and induced apoptosis in multiple carcinoma cell lines, including Bel/fu, KATO-III and A2780. Compared with mAb AC10364 or chemotherapeutic drugs alone, the combination of mAb AC10364 with chemotherapeutic drugs demonstrated enhanced growth inhibitory effects on carcinoma cells. These results suggest that mAb AC10364 is a promising candidate for cancer therapy.

Purpose - As the well-known Structure-Conduct-Performance paradigm implies, risk structure of a corporation may affect its risk management activity and the activity may in turn determine its performance. Depending on its goal, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) can shape its risk structure, risk management and its performance. Under this assumption, we investigate the relationship between the goals of FDI and risk management for the first time in academics. Design/methodology - This empirical research uses a survey of 279 current Korean enterprises’ FDIs in China with the recently developed business risk quadrant model. Companies are classified into either a market- or an efficiency-seeking group, to identify how each group perceives and manages risks, and values the performance of risk management. Also, we apply integrated risk management method that multinational corporations have introduced in China, then verify the mediating effect between risk factors and performance. Findings - Our research shows the FDIs can expose themselves to differing risk structure although risk management activities simply represent the level of empowerment given to local management by headquarter due to limit of sample size despite diversity of risk and risk management tools. To sum, market seekers are found to have more strategic risk (revenue related risk) than efficiency seekers with financial risk (cost related risk). The market seekers can manage their risk by empowering their local organisation while the efficiency does the opposite ways. The risk management appears to be successful in general. Originality/value - Previous studies on small and medium enterprises’ FDIs to China have concentrated on the analysis of entry determinants, withdrawal factors and individual risk management. Meanwhile, this research establishes enterprise-wide risk factors faced by the companies that advance into China, according to the method of the classification by ERM and verifies if they could synthetically improve performance through risk corresponding measures.
Volatile Organic Compound Gas Sensor Using a Gated Lateral Bipolar Junction Transistor

In this paper, we report the fabrication of a gated lateral bipolar junction transistor (LBJT) that is used as a sensor for volatile organic compound (VOC) gases. The proposed sensor was fabricated using a standard 0.35-µm process. The sensor can function as both a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) and a BJT. The floating gate of the sensor was coated with a solvatochromic dye, which exhibits charge-transfer (CT) characteristics, as the sensing membrane of the sensor. The gated LBJT was driven under emitter (source) bias and base current control. Owing to the interaction of the VOC gas with the sensing membrane, the emitter (source) current value changed; this change was detected by using a semiconductor test and analyzer (STA-EL421, ELECS). Results show that our fabricated semiconductor-based gas sensor can be effectively used under normal temperature.
Design and Evaluation of Nanorods Assembling Based on Dielectrophoresis

<P>In this study, for assembling the nanorods which are synthesized by electrochemical deposition (ECD) method, computer simulation tool (Ansys<SUP>TM</SUP>) was used basis of dielectrophoresis (DEP) principle. Following the simulation results, the nanorods assembly device was designed and fabricated using semiconductor technology. Furthermore, an electric field was applied on the assembly electrode with AC bias and DC bias hybrid. The nanorods assembling experiments were carried out as the frequency of the electric field changed. The assembly results were confirmed using optical microscope.</P>
Synthesis and Electrochemical Performance of Ti3C2Tx with Hydrothermal Process

In this study, a simple hydrothermal method has been developedto prepare Ti3C2Tx from Ti3AlC2 as a high-performance electrodematerial for supercapacitors. This method is environmentallyfriendly and has a low level of danger. The morphology andstructure of the Ti3C2Tx can be controlled by hydrothermalreaction time, temperature and NH4F amounts. The preparedTi3C2Tx was characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emissionscanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-rayphotoelectron spectroscopy and Brunauer-Emmet-Teller. Theresults show that the prepared Ti3C2Tx is terminated by O, OH,and F groups. The electrochemical properties of the Ti3C2Txsample exhibit specific capacitance up to 141 Fcm−3 in 3 MKOH aqueous electrolyte, and even after 1000 cycles, nosignificant degradation of the volumetric capacitance wasobserved. These results indicate that the Ti3C2Tx materialprepared by this hydrothermal method can be used in highperformance supercapacitors.
