The Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider in Japan is designed to indirectly probe new physics using approximately 50 times the data recorded by its predecessor. An accurate determination of the decay-point position of subatomic particles such as beauty and charm hadrons as well as a precise measurement of low-momentum charged particles will play a key role in this pursuit. These will be accomplished by an inner tracking device comprising two layers of pixelated silicon detector and four layers of silicon vertex detector based on double-sided microstrip sensors. We describe herein the design, prototyping and construction efforts of the Belle-II silicon vertex detector.

A silicon vertex detector (SVD) for the Belle-II experiment comprises four layers of double-sided silicon strip detectors (DSSDs), assembled in a ladder-like structure. Each ladder module of the outermost SVD layer has four rectangular and one trapezoidal DSSDs supported by two carbon-fiber ribs. In order to achieve a good signal-to-noise ratio and minimize material budget, a novel chip-on-sensor ''Origami'' method has been employed for the three rectangular sensors that are sandwiched between the backward rectangular and forward (slanted) trapezoidal sensors. This paper describes the bonding procedures developed for making electrical connections between sensors and signal fan-out flex circuits (i.e., pitch adapters), and between pitch adapters and readout chips as well as the results in terms of the achieved bonding quality and pull force.
Search for resonant B<sup>+</sup>/-->K<sup>+</sup>/-h->K<sup>+</sup>/-γγ decays at Belle

We report measurements and searches for resonant B<SUP>+</SUP>/-->K<SUP>+</SUP>/-h->K<SUP>+</SUP>/-γγ decays where h is a η, η<SUP>'</SUP>, η<SUB>c</SUB>, η<SUB>c</SUB>(2S), χ<SUB>c0</SUB>, χ<SUB>c2</SUB>, J/ψ meson or the X(3872) particle. The results are based on a data sample containing 535 million BB@? pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e<SUP>+</SUP>e<SUP>-</SUP> asymmetric-energy collider operating at the @?(4S) resonance. Signals are observed in the modes with η and η<SUP>'</SUP>, and we obtain evidence for a signal in the mode with η<SUB>c</SUB>. We measure B(B<SUP>+</SUP>/-->K<SUP>+</SUP>/-η->K<SUP>+</SUP>/-γγ)=(0.87<SUB>-0.15</SUB><SUP>+0.16</SUP>(stat)<SUB>-0.07</SUB><SUP>+0.10</SUP>(syst))x10<SUP>-6</SUP>, B(B<SUP>+</SUP>/-->K<SUP>+</SUP>/-η<SUP>'</SUP>->K<SUP>+</SUP>/-γγ)=(1.40<SUB>-0.15</SUB><SUP>+0.16</SUP>(stat)<SUB>-0.12</SUB><SUP>+0.15</SUP>(syst))x10<SUP>-6</SUP> and B(B<SUP>+</SUP>/-->K<SUP>+</SUP>/-η<SUB>c</SUB>->K<SUP>+</SUP>/-γγ)=(0.22<SUB>-0.07</SUB><SUP>+0.09</SUP>(stat)<SUB>-0.02</SUB><SUP>+0.04</SUP>(syst))x10<SUP>-6</SUP>. We set upper limits on the branching fractions of the other modes.
Measurement of cross sections of exclusive e<sup>+</sup>e<sup>-</sup>->VP processes at s=10.58 GeV

The cross sections for the reactions e<SUP>+</SUP>e<SUP>-</SUP>->φη, φη<SUP>'</SUP>, ρη, ρη<SUP>'</SUP> have been measured using a data sample of 516 fb<SUP>-1</SUP> collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e<SUP>+</SUP>e<SUP>-</SUP> collider. The corresponding values of the cross sections are: 1.4+/-0.4+/-0.1 fb (φη), 5.3+/-1.1+/-0.4 fb (φη<SUP>'</SUP>), 3.1+/-0.5+/-0.1 fb (ρη) and 3.3+/-0.6+/-0.2 fb (ρη<SUP>'</SUP>). The energy dependence of the cross sections is presented using Belle measurements together with those of CLEO and BaBar.

K<SUB>S</SUB><SUP>0</SUP>K<SUB>S</SUB><SUP>0</SUP> production in two-photon collisions has been studied using a 397.6 fb<SUP>-1</SUP> data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e<SUP>+</SUP>e<SUP>-</SUP> collider. For the first time the cross sections are measured in the two-photon center-of-mass energy range between 2.4 GeV and 4.0 GeV and angular range |cosθ<SUP>*</SUP>|<0.6. Combining the results with measurements of γγ->K<SUP>+</SUP>K<SUP>-</SUP> from Belle, we observe that the cross section ratio σ(K<SUB>S</SUB><SUP>0</SUP>K<SUB>S</SUB><SUP>0</SUP>)/σ(K<SUP>+</SUP>K<SUP>-</SUP>) decreases from ∼0.13 to ∼0.01 with increasing energy. Signals for the χ<SUB>c0</SUB> and χ<SUB>c2</SUB> charmonium states are also observed.

<P>We present a search for lepton-flavor-violating tau decays into three leptons (electrons or muons) using 782 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We report measurements of the charmless semileptonic decays B<SUP>0</SUP>->π<SUP>-</SUP>/ρ<SUP>-</SUP>@?<SUP>+</SUP>ν and B<SUP>+</SUP>->π<SUP>0</SUP>/ρ<SUP>0</SUP>@?<SUP>+</SUP>ν, based on a sample of 2.75x10<SUP>8</SUP>BB@? events collected at the @?(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e<SUP>+</SUP>e<SUP>-</SUP> asymmetric collider. In this analysis, the accompanying B meson is reconstructed in the semileptonic mode B->D<SUP>(*)</SUP>@?ν, enabling detection of the signal modes with high purity. We measure the branching fractions B(B<SUP>0</SUP>->π<SUP>-</SUP>@?<SUP>+</SUP>ν)=(1.38+/-0.19+/-0.14+/-0.03)x10<SUP>-4</SUP>, B(B<SUP>0</SUP>->ρ<SUP>-</SUP>@?<SUP>+</SUP>ν)=(2.17+/-0.54+/-0.31+/-0.08)x10<SUP>-4</SUP>, B(B<SUP>+</SUP>->π<SUP>0</SUP>@?<SUP>+</SUP>ν)=(0.77+/-0.14+/-0.08+/-0.00)x10<SUP>-4</SUP> and B(B<SUP>+</SUP>->ρ<SUP>0</SUP>@?<SUP>+</SUP>ν)=(1.33+/-0.23+/-0.17+/-0.05)x10<SUP>-4</SUP>, where the errors are statistical, experimental systematic, and systematic due to form factor uncertainties, respectively. For each mode we also present the partial branching fractions in three q<SUP>2</SUP> intervals: q<SUP>2</SUP><8, 8=<q<SUP>2</SUP><16, and q<SUP>2</SUP>>=16 GeV<SUP>2</SUP>/c<SUP>2</SUP>. From our partial branching fractions for B->π@?ν and recent results for the form factor from unquenched Lattice QCD calculations, we obtain values of the CKM matrix element |V<SUB>ub</SUB>|.

Several vendors have recently been actively pursuing the development of integral pressurizedwater reactors (iPWRs) that range in power levels from small to large reactors. Integral reactors have the features of minimum vessel penetrations, passive heat removalafter reactor shutdown, and modular construction that allow fast plant integration and asecure fuel cycle. The features of an integral reactor limit the options for placing controland safety system instruments. The development of instrumentation and control (I&C)strategies for a large 1,000 MWe iPWR is described. Reactor system modelingdwhich includesreactor core dynamics, primary heat exchanger, and the steam flashing drumdis animportant part of I&C development and validation, and thereby consolidates the overallimplementation for a large iPWR. The results of simulation models, control development,and instrumentation features illustrate the systematic approach that is applicable to integrallight water reactors

We report an improved measurement of D<SUP>0</SUP>-D@?<SUP>0</SUP> mixing and a search for CP violation in D<SUP>0</SUP> decays to CP-even final states K<SUP>+</SUP>K<SUP>-</SUP> and π<SUP>+</SUP>π<SUP>-</SUP>. The measurement is based on the final Belle data sample of 976 fb<SUP>-1</SUP>. The results are y<SUB>CP</SUB>=(1.11+/-0.22+/-0.09)% and A<SUB>Γ</SUB>=(-0.03+/-0.20+/-0.07)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.
Search for lepton-flavor-violating τ decays into a lepton and a vector meson

We search for lepton-flavor-violating τ->@?V<SUP>0</SUP> decays, where @? is an electron or muon and V<SUP>0</SUP> is one of the vector mesons ρ<SUP>0</SUP>, φ, ω, K<SUP>@?0</SUP> and K@?<SUP>@?0</SUP>. We use 854 fb<SUP>-1</SUP> of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e<SUP>+</SUP>e<SUP>-</SUP> collider. No evidence for a signal is found in any decay mode, and we obtain 90% confidence level upper limits on the individual branching fractions in the range (1.2-8.4)x10<SUP>-8</SUP>8.
