        Reactivity feedback effect on loss of fl ow accident in PWR

        In this work, the reactor kinetics capability is used to compute the design safety parameters in a PWR dueto complete loss of coolant flow during protected and unprotected accidents. A thermal-hydraulic codecoupled with a point reactor kinetic model are used for these calculations; where kinetics parametershave been developed from the neutronic SRAC code to provide inputs to RELAP5-3D code to calculateparameters related to safety and guarantee that they meet the regulatory requirements. In RELAP5-3Dthe reactivity feedback is computed by both separable and tabular models. The results show theimportance of the reactivity feedback on calculating the power which is the key parameter that controlsthe clad and fuel temperatures to maintain them below their melting point and therefore prevent coremelt. In addition, extending modeling capability from separable to tabular model has nonremarkableinfluence on calculated safety parameters

        A Keyword Network Analysis of the Research Published on Professionalism in Early Childhood Education and Care between 2000 and 2019

        This study aimed to analyze the trends found in the scholarly research on professionalism in early childhood education and care (ECEC) that was published between 2000 and 2019. For this study, 98 papers published in 33 journals met the selection and inclusion criteria and were analyzed. They were organized by journal, regional context of research, year of publication, and research method. The results showed that 27 of the papers were published in the European Early Childhood Education Research Journal and 51 were set in European countries. 14 papers were published in 2014 and 52 were based on qualitative studies. The papers were analyzed using the Keyword Network Analysis (KNA) and the results showed that, excluding the keywords used in the selection process, the most frequently used keywords were ‘policy,’ ‘early childhood teacher,’ ‘professional identity,’ and ‘professional knowledge.’ The keywords made a total of 17 communities, implying a variety in the topics discussed. The papers were classified by topics, the most discussed of which were ‘views on professionalism,’ ‘training and professional development,’ ‘policies,’ and ‘types of knowledge.’ The implications of the results of this research are discussed.

        Durable Antibacterial Functionality of Cotton/Polyester Blended Fabrics Using Antibiotic/MONPs Composite

        To fulfil the ever-growing demand for durable and multi-resistant textile fabrics against pathogenic bacteria, thiswork is aim to investigate the dual effect of coating cotton/polyester fabrics by composite of antibiotics/metal oxidenanoparticles. To carry out this study, cotton/polyester blended fabrics with different constructions were coated withZnONPs, ZrO2NPs, antibiotics namely doxymycin, cefadroxil, and ciprofloxacin (1 % w/v) individually and combined inpresence of citric acid and sodium hypophosphite as a crosslinking agent and a catalyst respectively. Nitrogen content (%N),metal content, and antibacterial activity as well as performance and physical properties were assessed. Full characterizationof untreated and treated fabrics by FTIR, SEM and EDX analysis were also carried out to confirm the binding and fixation ofthe used antibiotics and/or MONPs onto/within the fabric structure. The results revealed that the coated fabric samples byantibiotic/MONPs exhibited high nitrogen and metal contents as well as excellent antibacterial activity compared to thecoated fabrics by the nominated MONPs and antibiotics individually. The results also showed that the variation in theantibacterial functionality, performance and physical properties of the treated fabrics are governed by the type of substrate,type of construction and type of additives. Additionally, coated fabrics evinced satisfactory antibacterial efficacy even after15 washing cycles.

        Lamotrigine Decreased Hippocampal Damage and Improved Vascular Risk Markers in a Rat Model of Pentylenetetrazole Induced Kindling Seizure

        Various antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) especially enzyme-inducing AEDs might be associated withincreased vascular risk, through impairment of the endogenous antioxidative ability which may triggeroxygen-dependent tissue injury. Lamotrigine (LTG) a non-enzyme-inducing AED has scarce informationregarding its effects on oxidative stress. The present study aimed to study the possible modulationof vascular risk factors of epileptogenesis by LTG, in a rat model of kindling seizure induced bypentylenetetrazole (PTZ). Four groups of male Wister rats were used; vehicle control group, PTZ group(alternate day PTZ, 30 mg/kg, i.p), LTG/PTZ group (LTG 20 mg/kg/day p.o and alternate day PTZ)and LTG group. The study period was 5 weeks. Lipoproteins and total homocysteine (tHcy), malondialdehyde(MDA) and reduced glutathione (GSH) were measured. Aortic endothelial function studyand histopathological examination of the rats’ brains, aortas and coronaries were conducted. Serumtotal cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), tHcy, MDA,GSH levels were significantly higher in epileptic rats than normal controls rats. A decrease inHDL-cholesterol with high atherosclerotic index was also demonstrated. The administration of LTGimproved the PTZ-kindled seizures. It produced a significant decrease in TC, TG and LDL-cholesterol,MDA, aortic GSH and increase in HDL-cholesterol with no significant effect on serum GSH and tHcylevels. LTG improved endothelium-dependent relaxation, decreased hippocampal neurodegenerativechanges and atherosclerotic changes of aortas and coronaries. LTG decreased seizures severity,hippocampal damage and improved vascular risk markers in this rat model of kindling seizures.

        Exploring Latent Topics and International Research Trends in Literature-based Instruction in Early Childhood Education Using Topic Modeling

        This study used topic modeling, more specifically, the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) technique to analyse the trends found in scholarly research on literature-based instruction (LBI) in the area of early childhood education in the last twenty-two years (i.e., 2000 to 2021). A total of 150 papers published in 73 peer-reviewed journals met the selection criteria. Six topics were identified as the general topics dealt with by most of the papers. They were ‘arts and crafts,’ ‘types of reading and development,’ ‘inclusive education,’ ‘science, technology, and mathematics,’ ‘socio-emotional development,’ and ‘language.’ The results implied that the trend of research on LBI in the last 22 years has shown that it is an independent field, worthy of the attention of different scholars in different parts of the world. The trend of research also suggested that future studies in the field are needed with regard to specific topics and some specific contexts.

        Trend Analysis of Research on Early Childhood Inclusive Education During the Obama Administration

        The purpose of this study was to analyze trends in research on inclusive early childhood education in the United States from 2009 to 2017, during the Obama administration, and to extract successful implementation elements related to inclusion in early childhood education and care settings. 83 articles met the criteria for this study and were used to examine the research trends of inclusion in early childhood education settings. First, the findings showed that these 83 articles were divided as follows: 25 articles were investigative research, 24 were literature research, 21 were experimental studies, and 13 were qualitative studies. Second, the 83 articles investigated a total of 10 topics. 23 papers investigated the effects of different interventions, 12 addressed social skills, and 10 explored different perspectives and attitudes. Third, the 25 investigative papers were further analyzed to derive the key elements of the successful implementation of inclusive education in early childhood education and care settings. This resulted in the extraction of 29 implementation elements. Based on these results, implications for future research in this field are discussed.

        Comparing automated and non-automated machine learning for autism spectrum disorders classification using facial images

        Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder associated with cognitive and neurobehavioral disorders. It affects the person’s behavior and performance. Autism affects verbal and non-verbal communication in social interactions. Early screening and diagnosis of ASD are essential and helpful for early educational planning and treatment, the provision of family support, and for providing appropriate medical support for the child on time. Thus, developing automated methods for diagnosing ASD is becoming an essential need. Herein, we investigate using various machine learning methods to build predictive models for diagnosing ASD in children using facial images. To achieve this, we used an autistic children dataset containing 2936 facial images of children with autism and typical children. In application, we used classical machine learning methods, such as support vector machine and random forest. In addition to using deep-learning methods, we used a state-of-the-art method, that is, automated machine learning (AutoML). We compared the results obtained from the existing techniques. Consequently, we obtained that AutoML achieved the highest performance of approximately 96% accuracy via the Hyperpot and tree-based pipeline optimization tool optimization. Furthermore, AutoML methods enabled us to easily find the best parameter settings without any human efforts for feature engineering.

        Trend Analysis of Research on the Reggio Emilia Approach in Early Childhood Education from 2000 to 2019

        The purpose of this research was to analyze the trends in research on the Reggio Emilia approach from 2000, few years after the introduction Malaguzzi’s Reggio Emilia approach to the American early childhood educational system, to 2019 and extract the topics explored. 32 scholarly articles published in 9 journals met the criteria for this study and were used to examine the research trends of Reggio Emilia related research in the American early childhood education settings. The findings indicated that the year 2007 witnessed the largest number of publications on the topic and that the journal with the most published articles on the topic was Early Childhood Education Journal. The 32 articles were found to have tackled the following 9 topics: Teacher, parents, child, environment, teaching practices, educational models, subject education, interactions, and skills. ‘Teaching practices’ was the most discussed topic and ‘parents’ was the least. Documentation and professional development were found to be the most discussed and creativity and memory the least. Implications for future research on the topic were discussed.

        Functional expression in the curriculum of teaching Arabic to speakers of other languages at the University of Jordan

        This study aims to detect the opinion of Arabic learners – as a second language- on the importance of functional expression and their opinion on the role of the curriculum of the University of Jordan in this subject. It also aims to analyze the content of the curriculum of teaching Arabic to speakers of other languages, to recognize the exercises and its role in increasing the ability to learn functional expression in writing and orally, to identify how the lessons of the functional expression were selected in this curriculum, to identify the method through which learners can recruit what they learn in their career, and finally to detect the mistakes that Arabic learners as a second language can slip into in their expressive writing. هدفت الدراسة إلى الكشف عن رأي متعلمي اللغة العربية من الناطقين بغيرها في دور منهاج الجامعة في تعليمهم التعبير الوظيفي. ومن ثم تحليل محتوى منهاج تعليم اللغة العربية للناطقين بغيرها لقياس مدى احتواء المنهاج على تدريبات تزيد من قدرة المتعلم على التعبير الوظيفي كتابياً وشفوياً، ومدى فاعلية دروس التعبير الوظيفي في الوحدات الدراسية للمنهاج. كما هدفت إلى تعرّف إمكانية توظيف المتعلّم لما يتعلّمه من موضوعات في دروس التعبير في حياته العملية. وأخيراً هدفت الدراسة إلى الكشف عن الأخطاء التي يقع فيها متعلمو اللغة العربية من الناطقين بغيرها في كتاباتهم التعبيرية.
