        Facing Critical State of Food and Living Environment of “Ecological Emigrant Village” in Inner Mongolia

        Since 2000, the Chinese central and Inner Mongolian local governments have implemented the Ecological Emigration Policy for nomads on the grounds of environmental problem, and let nomadic people to move in cities, towns or surrounding communities which offer facilities for communication. As a result, more than 300,000 nomads and their families have become ecological emigrants, and gain 2800-3500 yuan per person a year for subsidy. Those nomads sold their domestic animals, moved to the house of exactly the same site area and type, offered by government, and now they live such as a dairy farmer, a part-time jobber or an unemployed. Even if the plan and the purpose of implementation of ecological emigrant policy is to prevent Inner Mongolia from desertification and improve ecological environment, politicians uses for the purposes other than the original purpose on the drawing board and they are on the way to create a “society” covered with poverty and anxiety. Most of ecological emigrants are classified in the poorest. The paper aims to analyze cultural and social transformation of Inner Mongolians in ecological emigrant village through food. The authors believe that food is culture and identity, and one of the key elements in social communication. The following subjects will be discussed, based on field survey conducted in two ecological emigrant villages around Xilinhot city. Firstly, occupation is for food. These two elements, occupation and food, had showed characteristics of nomadic culture. The separation of the two critical factors has a serious effect on emigrants. Secondly, “drinking problem” is one of the major issues in ecological emigrant village, but at the same time, this problem should be understood from the perspective of “forced structure”. The problem which ecological emigrants are facing was often treated as a poverty problem, emphasizing only economic support and left traditional food, language and cultural issues out of view. Poverty is likely to be traced to only economic side in China, and there is almost no understanding of the risk of loss of traditional culture in ethnic minorities and the act of tormenting them.

        Social Reasons of Rapid Desertification in Inner Mongolia: An Anthropological Perspective

        In this article, the authors try to understand the desertification and degradation in Inner Mongolia as an on-going process, and explain the tremendous environmental changes in broader social context. The research work was conducted on the basis of documentary and statistical materials, and interviews with herders and local administrators, as well as participant observation, mostly in Alashan Aimak, Inner Mongolia. As a result, it becomes clear that immigration process, population growth, imbalance among different kinds of livestock, changes of core values in nomadic culture, human destruction (mining, transportation, aviation laboratory, production tools), and modernization and industrialization all together contributed to the serious environmental changes, as well as overloading pasture.

        Stereovision-based Crack Width Detection Approach for Concrete Surface Assessment

        To quantitatively evaluate crack width of concrete structures surface, this paper presents a stereovision-based crack width detection method. Compared with the traditional visual inspection with single camera, this approach uses a pair of cameras to capture cracks images for recovering 3D coordinates of crack edge, and does not needs scale attached to concrete surface for converting measurement unit. A novel Canny-Zernike combination algorithm is utilized to obtain the image coordinates of crack edge in the left crack image, this combination algorithm can achieve 0.02 subpixel precision. The 3D coordinates of crack edge are acquired by projecting crack edge curve on concrete surface where cracks are located. The crack width is assessed by the minimum distance between two sides of crack edge. The detection tests are conducted on three concrete beams destroyed in static test, and the crack width of two inspection zones on each beam is acquired. Experimental results indicate that the stereovision-based crack width detection approach can accurately measure the crack width compared with the crack width gauge or the vernier calliper. This verifies the proposed method is applicable and useful for assessing the crack width of concrete surface.

      • Momentum transfer-based attitude control of spacecraft with backstepping

        <P>A nonlinear control law design based upon the backstepping approach is addressed for attitude maneuver control of spacecraft by momentum transfer (MT) in the presence of disturbance. For MT, a traditional method usually applies constant torque as an input, which tends to produce significant residual oscillation. Enhanced methods such as optimal control can somewhat reduce the residual oscillation, but may not be enough for minimum residual motion. Feedback linearization technique can drive the final nutation angle small enough, but it is rather sensitive to parameter uncertainty. The proposed method here takes advantage of nonlinear control approach with small steady-state nutation angle. Sensitivity about parameter uncertainties by feedback linearization can be reduced by the backstepping technique. Stability of the resulting control law is guaranteed by the Lyapunov stability theory. Boundedness of the control law is presented to validate practical merit of the proposed control law.</P>

        Analysis of methylation-sensitive amplified polymorphism in different cotton accessions under salt stress based on capillary electrophoresis

        A methylation-sensitive amplification polymorphism method based on capillary electrophoresis was used to analyze DNA methylation levels in three cotton accessions, two salt-tolerant accessions CCRI 35 and Zhong 07 and one salt-sensitive accession CCRI 12. Many categories of DNA methylation happened in the three cotton accessions under salt treatment, including hypermethylation, hypomethylation, and other patterns. Hypermethylation happened at a significantly higher rate than that of hypomethylation in salt-tolerant accessions CCRI 35 and Zhong 07. On the contrary, in salt-sensitive accession CCRI 12, hypomethylation happened at a significantly higher rate than that of hypermethylation. In general, the global DNA methylation level significantly increased under salt stress in both salt-tolerant accessions CCRI 35 and Zhong 07, whereas there was no significant difference in the salt-sensitive accessions CCRI 12. Our results suggested that salt-tolerant cotton might have a mechanism of increasing the methylation level when responding to salt stress; the increase of the global level of DNA methylation and also different methylation patterns might play important roles in tolerance to salt stress in cotton. Some interesting genes were found through cloning and analysis of differently methylated DNA sequences, which might contribute to salt tolerance in cotton.

        SIMULATION OF CITY BUS PERFORMANCE BASED ON ACTUAL URBAN DRIVING CYCLE IN CHINA

        This paper establishes the simulation model of a city bus on the basis of the EQ6110 bus prototype and its experimental data. According to the actual urban driving cycle, the fuel economy and the traction performance of the EQ6110 city bus have been simulated, and factors such as the driving cycle, the loss of power to engine accessories, the gear-shifting strategy, the fuel shut-off strategy of the engine, etc., which influence on the bus’s fuel economy, are also quantitatively analyzed. Some conclusions are drawn as follows: (1) driving cycles have a great influence on the fuel economy of a city bus; (2) under the typical urban driving cycle of the public bus in China, the engine fuel shut-off strategy can save about 1 to 1.5 percent of the fuel consumption; and (3) the optimized gear-shifting rules can save 6.7 percent of the fuel consumption. Experimental results verify that the fuel economy for the EQ6110 public bus is improved by 7.2 pecent over the actual Wuhan urban driving cycle of the current public bus in China.         Life Satisfaction in China 2013: A Survey Study in Two Main Chinese Cities

        The Chinese economic growth rate has been much higher than many countries of the world for many years now. Nowadays, China is experiencing significant economic transformation and structural adjustment. Its speed of development is slowing, and housing and commodity prices are slowly rising. Consequently, a series of economic and social problems have come into being. Under these circumstances, how satisfied are Chinese people on the seven aspects of daily living such as Housing Situation, Household Income, Health, Family Life, Food, Human Relations and Job? The Media and Public Opinion Research Center of Fudan University (FMORC) conducted a phone survey of 606 people living in Beijing, the capital and political and cultural center of China, and Shanghai, the Chinese economic center. The survey results show that the overall satisfaction of Chinese people with their daily life is high. The levels of Family Life and Human Relations are on the top, those of Food, Health and Jobs are listed from the third to the fifth, and satisfaction levels of their Housing Situation and Household Income are on the bottom. The satisfaction levels of males with their Family Life and Health are higher than those of females. Age has a significantly negative correlation with satisfaction with personal health. Monthly income has positive relationships with four aspects of daily life - house income, job, house situation, and family life. Owning a house in cities is another important factor that influences satisfaction with the house situation, house income, food, and family life. Shanghai residents also show higher satisfaction with their health than Beijing residents.

        A Study On The Narrative Strategy Of The Film Set Off

        영화 예술에 관한 가장 중요한 미학적 기제는 바로 서사이다. 영화의 매력은 이야기의 매력을 의해여 표현해 낸다. 영화의 서사 차원으로 보면 어떤 방법으로 이야기를 다루는가? 즉, 어떤 방법으로 영화의 서사의 구조를 다루는가는 한 영화 작품에 아주 중요한 일이라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 좋은 이야기를 다루는 것이 쉬운 일이 아니다. 좋은 서사는 소재, 줄거리, 이야기 고조, 결말 등 많은 요수가 포함되어 있다. <즉일 출발> 이 영화는 시각적 효과등 방면에 큰 투자하지 않았으며, 매체 홍보를 이용도 하지 않았다. 그런데 색다른 방법으로 다루는 서사를 통해 이 영화는 관객들에게서 좋은 평가를 얻었다. <즉일 출발>의 각종 서사의 다루는 방법, 줄거리 설정, 인물 설정, 세미한 내용 표현 등에 분석을 통해서 영화의 서사 다루는 전략을 연구한다. 서사 전략은 영화 제작과정 중에 활용하는 것을 논정한다. For the film and television art, the most important aesthetic mechanism is narrative. To a large extent, the charm of the film depends on the charm of the story. From the narrative point of view, "how to tell the story" or "with what kind of narrative strategy to tell the story" is the core of the question. However, in the movie, to tell a story is not easy, because it involves the story material, plot structure, incentive events, climax development, the end and many other elements. For the film Set Off, although the film did not make significant investments in visual effects and special effects, either spend too much on media and information hype, it made many achievements in the narrative of the story. It won a great reputation through a good narrative for the film. The article tries to analyze the application of narrative Strategy in Film and Television through the analysis on the film"s narrative structure, cross-narrative means, as well as the plot settings, suspense settings, character settings, details of the content and so on.
