Surf points based Moving Target Detection and Long-term Tracking in Aerial Videos

        ( Juan-juan Zhu ),( Wei Sun ),( Bao-long Guo ),( Cheng Li ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.10 No.11

A novel method based on Surf points is proposed to detect and lock-track single ground target in aerial videos. Videos captured by moving cameras contain complex motions, which bring difficulty in moving object detection. Our approach contains three parts: moving target template detection, search area estimation and target tracking. Global motion estimation and compensation are first made by grids-sampling Surf points selecting and matching. And then, the single ground target is detected by joint spatial-temporal information processing. The temporal process is made by calculating difference between compensated reference and current image and the spatial process is implementing morphological operations and adaptive binarization. The second part improves KALMAN filter with surf points scale information to predict target position and search area adaptively. Lastly, the local Surf points of target template are matched in this search region to realize target tracking. The long-term tracking is updated following target scaling, occlusion and large deformation. Experimental results show that the algorithm can correctly detect small moving target in dynamic scenes with complex motions. It is robust to vehicle dithering and target scale changing, rotation, especially partial occlusion or temporal complete occlusion. Comparing with traditional algorithms, our method enables real time operation, processing 520×390 frames at around 15fps.

Roles of NMDA NR2B Subtype Receptor in Prefrontal Long-Term Potentiation and Contextual Fear Memory

        Zhao, Ming-Gao,Toyoda, Hiroki,Lee, Yong-Seok,Wu, Long-Jun,Ko, Shanelle W.,Zhang, Xue-Han,Jia, Yongheng,Shum, Fanny,Xu, Hui,Li, Bao-Ming,Kaang, Bong-Kiun,Zhuo, Min Elsevier 2005 Neuron Vol.47 No.6

Summary

Cortical plasticity is thought to be important for the establishment, consolidation, and retrieval of permanent memory. Hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP), a cellular mechanism of learning and memory, requires the activation of glutamate N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors. In particular, it has been suggested that NR2A-containing NMDA receptors are involved in LTP induction, whereas NR2B-containing receptors are involved in LTD induction in the hippocampus. However, LTP in the prefrontal cortex is less well characterized than in the hippocampus. Here we report that the activation of the NR2B and NR2A subunits of the NMDA receptor is critical for the induction of cingulate LTP, regardless of the induction protocol. Furthermore, pharmacological or genetic blockade of the NR2B subunit in the cingulate cortex impaired the formation of early contextual fear memory. Our results demonstrate that the NR2B subunit of the NMDA receptor in the prefrontal cortex is critically involved in both LTP and contextual memory.

Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry-Based Metabolomics Analysis of Indigo Naturalis Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis in Mice

        Zheng Wang,Yanni Liang,Anqi Fan,Bao-Long Hou,Zhishu Tang,Ting Wang,Dongbo Zhang 한국식품영양과학회 2023 Journal of medicinal food Vol.26 No.12

Ulcerative colitis (UC), often known as UC, is an inflammatory disease of the intestines that has frequent andlong-lasting flare-ups. It is unknown precisely how the traditional Chinese drug Indigo Naturalis (IN) heals inflammatorybowel disease, despite its long-standing use in China and Japan. Finding new metabolite biomarkers linked to UC couldimprove our understanding of the disease, speed up the diagnostic process, and provide insight into how certain drugs work totreat the condition. Our work is designed to use a metabolomic method to analyze potential alterations in endogenoussubstances and their impact on metabolic pathways in a mouse model of UC. To determine which biomarkers and metabolismsare more frequently connected with IN’s effects on UC, liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis ofthe serum metabolomics of UC mice and normal mice was performed. The outcomes demonstrated that IN boosted the healthof UC mice and reduced the severity of their metabolic dysfunction. In the UC model, it was also found that IN changed theway 17 biomarkers and 3 metabolisms functioned.

A modified heteropoly acid catalyst with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide for methacrolein to methacrylic acid

        Yun-Li Cao,Lei Wang,Li-Long Zhou,Bao-Hua Xu,Yan-Yan Diao,Suojiang Zhang 한국공업화학회 2018 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.65 No.-

A novel type of heteropolyacids, CTAB-CsH3PMo11VO40 (CTA-CsPAV), was developed by a method of emulsion synthesis using cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as the structure promoter, which was applied as a catalyst in the oxidation of methacrolein (MAL) to methacrylic acid (MAA) with fixed-bed reactor. The structure and property of CTA-CsPAV were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, NH3-TPD, SEM, XPS, and so on. The structure-performance relationship of CTA-CsPAV was systematically studied, wherein the influence of surface area, acidity, redox property of CTA-CsPAV were focused and discussed. Importantly, the long-term performance of CTA-CsPAV was also investigated.

      • QoS-Aware and Energy-Efficient Resource Management in OFDMA Femtocells

Long Bao Le,Niyato, D.,Hossain, E.,Dong In Kim,Dinh Thai Hoang IEEE 2013 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS Vol.12 No.1

We consider the joint resource allocation and admission control problem for Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA)-based femtocell networks. We assume that Macrocell User Equipments (MUEs) can establish connections with Femtocell Base Stations (FBSs) to mitigate the excessive cross-tier interference and achieve better throughput. A cross-layer design model is considered where multiband opportunistic scheduling at the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer and admission control at the network layer working at different time-scales are assumed. We assume that both MUEs and Femtocell User Equipments (FUEs) have minimum average rate constraints, which depend on their geographical locations and their application requirements. In addition, blocking probability constraints are imposed on each FUE so that the connections from MUEs only result in controllable performance degradation for FUEs. We present an optimal design for the admission control problem by using the theory of Semi-Markov Decision Process (SMDP). Moreover, we devise a novel distributed femtocell power adaptation algorithm, which converges to the Nash equilibrium of a corresponding power adaptation game. This power adaptation algorithm reduces energy consumption for femtocells while still maintaining individual cell throughput by adapting the FBS power to the traffic load in the network. Finally, numerical results are presented to demonstrate the desirable operation of the optimal admission control solution, the significant performance gain of the proposed hybrid access strategy with respect to the closed access counterpart, and the great power saving gain achieved by the proposed power adaptation algorithm.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI): Opportunities and Risks from Vietnamese Perspective

Long Duc Bao NGUYEN,Tracy Trang LY,Doan Cong TRAN,Ai Van TRAN,An Quoc LE,Alan HUDSON 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.4

The goal of this research is to look at the Belt and Road Initiative’s (BRI) goals, principles, and priorities, as well as criticisms and concerns. Another goal is to determine the Vietnamese government’s best response to the BRI. Finally, the study looks at the Vietnamese viewpoint. Document review is used in conjunction with PESTELED analysis and EIU country risk model technique in this study. The study is focused on in-depth interviews with 38 top government leaders, researchers, and scholars by adopting the Delphi technique to determine major factors of risks and opportunities as well as obtain a clearer view on the Vietnamese perspective of the BRI. The main conclusion is that Vietnam’s participation in the BRI could result in a variety of benefits and risks, including economic development, connectivity and integration, development finance, cooperation, coordination, trade facilitation, and people-to-people communication, as well as diplomatic and political risks, financial risks, environmental challenges, and job creation. Another conclusion is suggested that careful and case-by-case negotiation with China is needed for Vietnam to exploit the future benefits of BRI. There is a need to set up the strategy to mitigate the risk impacts, reduce the risk level, avoid risk, at last turn the risk into opportunities.

Discrete stochastic EOQ model for deteriorating inventory in supply chain using Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation

        Long Le Ngoc Bao,Sam-Sang You,Hwan-Seong Kim 한국마린엔지니어링학회 2024 한국마린엔지니어링학회지 Vol.48 No.1

In an ideal environment, an optimal replenishment point is required for the best output performance with maximized profit for a classical economic order quantity (EOQ) model. However, in practice, most supply chains experience variations that affect the theoretical results. Most products are perishable, which implies that their quality deteriorates over time. This issue must be resolved promptly before the cycle ends because unsold items result in revenue loss. This study presents an EOQ model in a discrete domain with uncertainties in the systematic parameters. The demand for products depends linearly on the pricing scheme of the enterprise, which must be analyzed optimally to achieve the maximum profit in the replenishment cycle. To solve this optimization problem, an optimal control technique named the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation is introduced, which has been proven successful in solving similar issues. The convergence constraints of the HJB equation and the optimal reordering quantity are analyzed. The performance of the proposed approach is revealed via simulations, in which the behavior of the inventory system in perfect and imperfect scenes is demonstrated. The final result indicates that the optimal solution is admissible and robust as it remains valid in varying environments, with a difference of less than 5% in the ideal case.
