Breakwaters are the coastal structures constructed either perpendicular (shore connected) or parallel (detached) to the coast. The main function of breakwater is to create a tranquil medium on its leeside by reflecting the waves and also dissipating the wave energy arriving from seaside, resulting in ease of manoeuvrability to boats or ships to their berthing places. Different types of breakwaters are being used at present, such as rubble mound breakwater, vertical wall type breakwater and composite breakwater. The objective of this paper is to investigate reflection coefficients (Kr) and dissipation (loss) coefficients (Kl) for physical models of Quarter circle caisson breakwater of three different radii of 0.550 m, 0.575 m and 0.600 m with S/D ratio of 2.5 (S=spacing between perforations, D=diameter of perforations). The models were tested in the monochromatic wave flume of the department, for different incident wave heights (Hi), Wave periods (T) and water depths (d). It was observed that reflection coefficient increased with increase in the wave steepness (Hi/gT2) and decreased with increase in depth parameter (d/gT2) and hs/d (Height of structure including rubble base/depth of water). The loss coefficient decreased with increase in the wave steepness and increased with increase in depth parameter and hs/d.
THE OUTER-CONNECTED VERTEX EDGE DOMINATION NUMBER OF A TREE

For a given graph G = (V, E), a set $D{\subseteq}V(G)$ is said to be an outer-connected vertex edge dominating set if D is a vertex edge dominating set and the graph $G{\backslash}D$ is connected. The outer-connected vertex edge domination number of a graph G, denoted by ${\gamma}^{oc}_{ve}(G)$, is the cardinality of a minimum outer connected vertex edge dominating set of G. We characterize trees T of order n with l leaves, s support vertices, for which ${\gamma}^{oc}_{ve}(T)=(n-l+s+1)/3$ and also characterize trees with equal domination number and outer-connected vertex edge domination number.
Errata : Piscidenone and Piscidinol G, Two New Protolimonoids from Walsura piscidia
K. Balakrishna,E. Sukumar,J. D. Connolly 한국생약학회 2003 Natural Product Sciences Vol.9 No.4
Two new protolimonoids, piscidenone (1) and piscidinol G (2) were isolated from the leaves of the plant Walsura piscidia together with piscidinol A and C. The structurers were assigned based on spectral evidences (IR, HNMR, 13CNMR and MS).

In the present study, the alcoholic extract of Terminalia arjuna (TA) and Arjunolic acid (AA) were studied for its anti-asthmatic and anaphylactic activity. Treatment with TA (250 & 500 mg/kg) and AA (50&100 mg/kg) has shown significant protection against mast cell disruption in rats induced by compound 48/80. TA and AA also protected the guinea pig against histamine as well as acetylcholine induced bronchospasm. Both TA & AA exhibited better protection against histamine release than against acetylcholine release. Anti-asthmatic and anaphylactic activity may be possibly due to membrane stabilizing potential and inhibition of antigen induced histamine and acetylcholine release.

Structure, ontogeny, classification and taxonomic significance of trichomes have been studied in 39 genera and 125 species of the selected families in Malvales. They were studied on both vegetative and floral organs. There are nine types of eglandular and eight of glandular trichomes. The trichomes were classified on the basis of their form, structure and contents. All of them originated from a single papillate hair initial. According to the trichome data, the Malvales was confirmed as a natural order with 5 homogenous families: Malvaceae, Bombacaceae, Sterculiaceae, Tiliaceae, and Elaeocarpaceae.

Provenance variation and genetic variability in pod and seed traits were carried out with 232 candidate plus trees of Pongamia pinnata collected from selected agro-ecological zones of southern peninsular India during February-March 2008 to 2010. Significant variation (P < 0.01) for pod and seed traits across zones and provenances within zones was recorded. The southern dry and transition zone of Karnataka showed the highest mean value for all the pod and seed traits. A significant negative (P < 0.05) correlation and positive correlation was recorded for latitude with 100-seed weight and seed germination, respectively. Altitude positively correlated with 100-pod weight and negatively correlated with oil content. Phenotypic co-efficient of variation was higher than the genotypic co-efficient of variation indicating the influence of environment. Central dry zone and eastern dry zone of Karnataka showed high heritability and genetic advance for 100-pod weight, 100-seed weight, and seed germination. Positive significant (P < 0.05) genotypic correlation of co-efficient was recorded between seed thickness and oil content (0.211). Germination percentage showed significant positive correlation with seed weight and oil content. Path analysis revealed that seed thickness contributed directly to oil content (0.272). Based on D2 analysis, pongamia accessions could be grouped into seven clusters. Maximum diverse Clusters I and VII were identified based on inter-cluster distance (40.19). Thus on the basis of the present findings, it might be suggested that accessions from these clusters could be most suitably used for hybridization and in situ germplasm conservation

Internodal vessel elements are studied in 20 genera, 75 species and 33 cultivars of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis beloning to the Malvaceae. The minimum and maximum length and diameter range from 79∼466 and 14∼88㎛, respectively. The vessel elements are either cylindrical, fusiform, conical, clavate, oval, column-, drum-, fish and cup-like or erratic. Perforation plates are exclusively simple in all the species investigated, except occasionally scalariform in varieties of Hibiscus roas-sinensis. In most of the species studied vessel elements have predominantly two perforation plates or occasionally one and three. Adjacent side wall thichening is commonly simple and border pitted, mixed, scalariform, helical and reticulate. The vessel elements vary in their size, shape, number and inclination of perforation plates and adjacent wall thichening.
