비서사적 디지털 합성 영상 작품을 통한 선불교의 주요 개념 표현

최근 10여 년간 LED와 프로젝션 등 영상 미디어의 기술 발전에 따라 디지털 영상 미디어 아트/디자인 작품들이 미술관 갤러리 내에서 또 퍼블릭 아트 등의 형태로 다양한 방식으로 관객들과 만나고 있다. 이에 따라 많은 디자이너 작가들의 작품들이 쏟아져 나오고 이에 관객들은 신선함과 함께 작품을 선택하고 이해하는 방법에 대한 어려움 또한 느끼고 있다. 특히 전통적 매체의 미술/디자인 작품들과 달리 디지털 영상 미디어 작품들은 기술적인 측면이 많이 부각되면서 내용적인 측면이 충분히 전달되지 못하는 경우들이 문제가 되고 있다. 이는 작품의 의미를 그저 신기함에 머무르게 하고 결국 그 생명력을 단축시키고 있다. 기술적 측면이나 시각적 측면이 강조되기 쉬운 미디어아트의 내용적 측면에 대한 깊이 있는 연구와 그를 바탕으로 한 연결과 조화에 대한 고민을 본인의 작품 "더 스트럭쳐"를 예로 살펴봄으로써 작가나 디자이너들은 작품의 내용과 형식의 유기적 연결성에 대한 방법론 연구에 대한 한 예로써 살펴보고 관객들로서는 작품의 제작과정을 통해 작가의 사고 과정을 살펴봄으로써 미디어 작품을 이해하는 가이드가 될 수 있기를 기대해 본다. "더 스트럭쳐"는 선불교의 주요 개념들을 비서사적 영상작업으로 시각화하였으며 놀이기구라는 소재를 불교의 무아/공 개념과 근거로 선택하였고 디지털 합성의 의미를 불이사상을 통해 설명하였으며 영상의 속도와 반복을 통해 선불교의 찰나와 겁의 개념을 시각화하여 표현하였다. 이는 앞서 언급한 디지털 영상 미디어 작품 내에서의 형식과 내용의 관계에 대한 고민과 함께 문화 콘텐츠로서의 선불교의 개념을 현대적으로 해석하고자 하는 연구의 일환으로 우리나라의 역사적 전통적인 콘텐츠를 전통적인 미학뿐만 아니라 내용의 연구를 기반으로 한 현대적 미학으로 표현에 대해 고민해보고자 한다. According to the development of the LED and projection technology digital media art and design meet audiences through various way-gallery museum public art and so on. New works from many designers and artists not only make audiences feel excited but also make them confused about what to choose and how to read them. Because new media works are not very familiar new technology is focused to read and evaluate the works so the philosophical and social meaning as art contents of them are not reaching audiences enough and it makes the works' life shorter. "The structure of" is visualizing the main concepts of Zen Buddhism through non-narrative moving image composition. Looking closely at the creating process of it it can give the insight not only to artists/designers about methods for organic relationship between form and content technology and meaning but also to audiences guide on how they can translate the digital media moving image works. Non-narrative moving image composition "The structure of" translating main concepts of Zen Buddhism-selecting thrill rides as metaphors of concept of Non-I and Emptiness compositing digitally to express the concept of No-Difference and using slow motion and repetition as a translation of the concept of Chal-na and Gup in Zen Buddhism. By this study the methodology to deal the concepts of Zen Buddhism as a content in a contemporary aesthetic also hope to be discussed.

Stability analysis on the concrete slab of the highest concrete-faced rock-fill dam in South Korea

Design and management of concrete slabs in concrete-faced rock-fill dams are crucial issues for stability and overall dam safety since cracks in the concrete face induced by stress, shrinkage, and deterioration can cause severe leakage from the reservoir into the dam. Especially, the increase of dam height to a certain level to enhance the storage capacity and to improve hydraulic stability can lead to undesirable deformation behavior and stress distribution in the existing dam body and in the concrete slabs. In such conditions, simulation of a concrete slab with a numerical method should involve the use of an interface element because the behavior of the concrete slab does not follow the behavior of the dam body when the dam body settles due to the increase of dam height. However, the interfacial properties between the dam body and the concrete slab have yet to be clearly defined. In this study, construction sequence of a 125 m high CFRD in South Korea is simulated with commercial FDM software. The proper interfacial properties of the concrete slab are estimated based on a comparison to monitored vertical displacement history obtained from the concrete slab. Possibility of shear strength failure under the critical condition is investigated based on the simplified model. Results present the significance of the interfacial properties of the concrete slab.

In this paper, we prove the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the orthogonally cubic functional equations f(2x + y) + f(2x - y) = 2f(x + y) + 2f(x - y) + 12f(x) and f(x +y+ 2z) + f(x+ y -2z) + f(2x)+f(2y) = 2f(x + y) + 4f(x + z) + 4f(x - z) + 4f(y + z) + 4f(y - z), where x ⊥ y, y ⊥ z, x ⊥ z.

The Impact of the Chinese Renminbi on Korean and Japanese Exports to the United States

This paper examines the impacts of the real exchange rates of the Chinese renminbi against the US dollar on Japanese and Korean exports to the United States. Empirical test results, which have analyzed the quarterly data covering 1986Q1 to 2008Q2, show different long-run impacts of the renminbi in the export functions of the two countries. In particular, depreciation of the renminbi has a positive impact on Japanese exports but a negative impact on Korean exports. However, since some stability tests indicate a structural break in the export functions, the functions are re-estimated for the recent sub-period (1995Q1 to 2008Q2). Different from the estimation results for the whole sample period, in tests with the subperiod data, depreciation of the renminbi turns out to have a positive impact on Korean exports and insignificant impacts on Japanese exports. In addition, the coefficients of the real GDP of the US and the real exchange rate of the Japanese yen and the Korean won are estimated to be consistent with conventional predictions. Finally, it should be noted that only the estimated values of the renminbi coefficient change drastically across the two period data sets, while other coefficient values are quite stable.

Estimates of Korea`s bilateral export functions

This paper estimates bilateral export functions of Korea to its four major trading partners(China, the Euro Zone, Japan, and the US) with the data from 2000Q1 to 2014Q1 and examines the impacts of changes in the global economic environment on Korean exports based on the estimation results. Both income elasticity and price elasticity are estimated to have the expected signs. External demand for the products of Korea’s Asian trading partners also plays an important role in determining Korean exports to those countries. Although the recovery of the global economy is expected to contribute to an increase in Korean exports, appreciation of the Korean won will reduce its impact.
