        Determination of N* amplitudes from associated strangeness production in p+p collisions

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We present the first determination of the energy-dependent amplitudes of N<SUP>⁎</SUP> resonances extracted from their decay in KΛ pairs in p+p → <SUP> pK + </SUP> Λ reactions. A combined Partial Wave Analysis of seven data samples with exclusively reconstructed p+p → <SUP> pK + </SUP> Λ events measured by the COSY-TOF, DISTO, FOPI and HADES Collaborations in fixed target experiments at kinetic energies between 2.14 to 3.5 GeV is used to determine the amplitude of the resonant and non-resonant contributions into the associated strangeness final state. The contribution of seven N<SUP>⁎</SUP> resonances with masses between 1650 MeV/c<SUP>2</SUP> and 1900 MeV/c<SUP>2</SUP> for an excess energy between 0 and 600 MeV has been considered. The Σ–p cusp and final state interactions for the p–Λ channel are also included as coherent contributions in the PWA. The N<SUP>⁎</SUP> contribution is found to be dominant with respect to the phase space emission of the pK Λ + final state at all energies demonstrating the important role played by both N<SUP>⁎</SUP> and interference effects in hadron–hadron collisions.</P>

        Blooms of Trichodesmium erythraeum in the South Eastern Arabian Sea during the onset of 2009 Summer Monsoon

        This study presents in situ evidence for the blooms of Trichodesmium erythraeum observed in the shelf waters of the South Eastern Arabian Sea (SEAS) during the onset of the southwest monsoon in June 2009. Evidence showed that water surface discoloration was caused by the accumulation of T. erythraeum, and that the water column contained a colony of T. thiebautii. The surface water color in the bloom region varied from pale brown to pinkish red. Pale brown indicated healthy algae at the peak of its photosynthetic activity, while pinkish red indicated the presence of photosynthetically less active filaments. Zooplankton abundance, especially copepodites, in the bloom area substantiated the theory that Trichodesmium filaments are excellent epiphytes to which the copepodites cling. The bloom area was very fertile with copious quantities of dissolved oxygen (6.85 ml L-1), PO4-P (0.108 μmol L-1) and SiO4 (1.29 μmol L-1). Lower NO3-N (0.028 μmol L-1) values in the bloom area did not appear to affect Trichodesmium growth from molecular nitrogen fixation. However, lower NO3-N values altered the normal phytoplankton composition of this area.

        The giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) of Fe_(73.5-x)Mn_xSi_(13.5)B_9Nb₃Cu₁ (x= 1, 3, 5) alloys prepared by a rapid quenching technique has been measured to investigate the influence of the structural changes in the crystallization process as well as the changes of the soft magnetic properties such as permeability, coercivity, magnetic anisotropy, etc. after thermal treatment. Magnetoimpedance ratio (MIR) and incremental permeability ratio (PR) measurements were investigated in the frequency range of 1-10 ㎒ and at a fixed current of 10 ㎃. Ultrasoft magnetic behavior has been observed in the samples annealed at 560℃. The PR curves become narrower and sharper after heat treatment due to the decrease of anisotropy. The MIR and PR coincided with the softness of the magnetic properties of the thermally treated samples.

        Photoluminescence and white light generation behavior of lithium gadolinium silicoborate glasses

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The Dy<SUP>3+</SUP>-doped lithium gadolinium silica borate glasses with composition (in mol%) 40Li<SUB>2</SUB>O:15Gd<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>:5SiO<SUB>2</SUB>: (40-x)B<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>:xDy<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, x = 0.01, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 were prepared by melt quenching technique and characterized through absorption and emission spectra, CIE chromaticity coordinates and decay rate analysis. Judd-Oflet parameters have been calculated for lithium gadolinium silico borate glass and used for the derivation of radiative properties for excited luminescent levels of Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> ions. The feasibility of white light generation have been evaluated by the yellow-to-blue emission intensity ratios and CIE chromaticity coordinates as a function of Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> concentration. The non-exponential decay rates are well-fitted to Inokuti-Hirayama model for S = 6. The perceived non-exponential decay nature and life time quenching have been ascribed to the energy transfer between excited and unexcited Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> ions through dipole–dipole interaction. The CCT values for the present studied glasses obtained in the 4584-4235 K at λ<SUB>exc</SUB> = 387 nm. These CCT values are below the warm CCT (i.e CCT 4000 K). The reasonably good luminescence properties of LGSiBDy10 glass indicates the potentiality of the title of glass to be applied as lasing medium for white light generation.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Spectroscopic properties of Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> ion in Li<SUB>2</SUB>OGd<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> SiO<SUB>2</SUB> B<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> were studied. </LI> <LI> JO analysis were used to analyze spectroscopic properties. </LI> <LI> White emission was observed from glass sample. </LI> <LI> Lasing properties were characterized. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • Pathway analysis of genome‐wide association datasets of personality traits

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Although several genome‐wide association (GWA) studies of human personality have been recently published, genetic variants that are highly associated with certain personality traits remain unknown, due to difficulty reproducing results. To further investigate these genetic variants, we assessed biological pathways using GWA datasets. Pathway analysis using GWA data was performed on 1089 Korean women whose personality traits were measured with the Revised NEO Personality Inventory for the 5‐factor model of personality. A total of 1042 pathways containing 8297 genes were included in our study. Of these, 14 pathways were highly enriched with association signals that were validated in 1490 independent samples. These pathways include association of: Neuroticism with axon guidance [L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) interactions]; Extraversion with neuronal system and voltage‐gated potassium channels; Agreeableness with L1CAM interaction, neurotransmitter receptor binding and downstream transmission in postsynaptic cells; and Conscientiousness with the interferon‐gamma and platelet‐derived growth factor receptor beta polypeptide pathways. Several genes that contribute to top‐ranked pathways in this study were previously identified in GWA studies or by pathway analysis in schizophrenia or other neuropsychiatric disorders. Here we report the first pathway analysis of all five personality traits. Importantly, our analysis identified novel pathways that contribute to understanding the etiology of personality traits.</P>

        I. Purpose Purpose of this research is to find out how the sociological doctor of the group member perform and to analyze the transition of the group cohesion with variable timing to see the characteristics of the leadership 2. Problem A) The acceptability of athletes is analyzed by the sociometric devices B) The group acceptability is compared with the group trans-formation with variable timing. C) The intensity of selection is compared with and analyze to the first selection and the second selection with the Variable timing. D) The group whesin and the group expansion are compared and analyze with the variable timing. E) The charactereristics of the formal leader and dynamic leader are compared and find out the influence of the group performance. 3. Method This research started on he second of September, 1967 are finished on the fourth of july, 1968. The sociometric devices were used and the subjects were the group of baseball player 4. Conclusion A) The small group on this research is generally low on the choice rejection status. B) Living o n the training camp with close contact and opportunity can be made high tendency on the choice rejection status. C) The reason of the choice of leader is mainly due to emotional personality factor. But the young age group shows that the task performance function and xxx ability are the main reason. D) The vector of social distance is almost weak, this tendency shows on the young age group. E) There was no difference on the group cohesion and the group expansion. F) The formal leader and the dynanimcs leader are not the same one. This phenomenon shows that the group dynamics has quite complicated problem. However the formal leader and the dynamics leader can be coincided through the training camp life with the close contact opportunity.

        Bisabolol-Induced Gastroprotection Against Acute Gastric Lesions: Role of Prostaglandins, Nitric Oxide, and K+ATP Channels

        The effects of Matricaria recutita and α-bisabolol, a bioactive component from Chamomile species, were investigated against gastric damage induced by absolute ethanol (96%, 1mL per animal) in rats. The effects of M. recutita extract and α-bisabolol on gastric mucosal damage were assessed by determination of changes in mean gastric lesion area. Mechanistic studies were carried out at with 100mg/kg α-bisabolol. We further examined the possible participation of prostaglandins, nitric oxide, and K+ATP channels in its mechanism. M. recutita reduced gastric damage in all doses tested. α-Bisabolol at oral doses of 50 and 100mg/kg markedly attenuated the gastric lesions induced by ethanol to the extent of 87% and 96%, respectively. Pretreatments with the nitric oxide antagonist N-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester (10mg/kg, i.p.) or with indomethacin, an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase, failed to block effectively the gastroprotective effect of α-bisabolol. Furthermore, the α-bisabolol effect was significantly reduced in rats pretreated with glibenclamide, an inhibitor of K+ATP channel activation. Thus we provide evidence that α-bisabolol reduces the gastric damage induced by ethanol, at least in part, by the mechanism of activation of K+ATP channels.

        많은 기억장소를 요구하는 이력 데이타베이스를 효율적으로 저장하고 액세스하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 첫째, 시속성의 유효시간의 시작점(Start time)만을 기록 관리 하도록 하여 기억 공간을 최소로 사용하도록 하였으며 둘째, 빠른 액세스를 하기 위하여 주로 많이 사용되는 이력 데이타베이스의 현재 데이타 부분(NDP)에, 대하여는 종래의 관계 DB에서 주로 사용하는 방법대로 DATA화일은 비순서 힘 화일(unordered heep file)로 구성하고, 인덱스 화일은 B^+ tree를 이용한다. 이력 데이타베이스에만 존재하는 늙은 데이타 부분(ODP)은 유효시간(T)과 속성의 값(A)의 두 필드를 갖는데, 유효시간 T에 대한 질의에 응답을 하기 위하여 1년 전후의 갱신 주기를 갖는 장주기 속성은 순차적 화일로 편성하여 집중화(clustering)하고, 단주기 속성은 년, 월, 일 단위로 다단계 인덱스 화일(multi-level index file)로 편성할 것을 제안하였다. 그리고 A필드에 대한 질의에 빠른 응답을 하기 위하여 B^+ tree 방법을 이용하도록 하였다.
