      • Pyrophen Produced by Endophytic Fungi Aspergillus sp Isolated from Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav Exhibits Cytotoxic Activity and Induces S Phase Arrest in T47D Breast Cancer Cells

Astuti, Puji,Erden, Willy,Wahyono, Wahyono,Wahyuono, Subagus,Hertiani, Triana Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.2

Ethyl acetate extracts obtained from culture of endophytic fungi Aspergillus sp isolated from Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav, have been shown to possess cytotoxic activity against T47D breast cancer cells. Investigations were here conducted to determine bioactive compounds responsible for the activity. Bioassay guided fractionation was employed to obtain active compounds. Structure elucidation was performed based on analysis of LC-MS, $^1H$-NMR, $^{13}C$-NMR, COSY, DEPT, HMQC, HMBC data. Cytotoxity assays were conducted in 96 well plates against T47D and Vero cell lines. Bioassay guided isolation and chemical investigation led to the isolation of pyrophen, a 4-methoxy-6-(1'-acetamido-2'-phenylethyl)-2H-pyran-2-one. Further analysis of its activity against T47D and Vero cells showed an ability to inhibit the growth of T47D cells with IC50 values of $9.2{\mu}g/mL$ but less cytotoxicity to Vero cells with an $IC_{50}$ of $109{\mu}g/mL$. This compound at a concentration of 400 ng/mL induced S-phase arrest in T47D cells.

Black soldier fly as feed ingredient for ruminants

        Astuti Dewi Apri,Wiryawan Komang Gede 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.2

This paper is a review of some experiments using black soldier fly (BSF) and its by-product to explore their nutritional value, production potential in Indonesia and its application in the ration of ruminants. Evaluation on the effect of milk replacer, creep feed containing BSF, BSF frass and the possibility to use lactic acid bacteria from BSF as probiotics are presented. Utilization of BSF larvae in milk replacer as skim and cream milk substitute showed that there were similarity on physiological, hematological status and performance of goat kids compared to those offered goat milk or commercial milk replacer. In addition, BSF larvae can be used to substitute soybean meal in the creep feed for post weaning goat kids without any differences in weight gain and blood profiles. However, utilization of BSF frass in the fattening goat ration resulted lower digestibility of dry matter and organic matter due to the chitin content in the frass. Black soldier fly larvae grown on chicken manure harbour lactic acid bacteria (LAB) which have potential as probiotics for ruminants. In general, BSF larvae has potential as ingredient for milk replacer, creep feed, fattening ration, and source of LAB for probiotics.

Anti-aging activity of tetrahydrocurcumin, Centella asiatica extract, and its mixture

Astuti Ika Yuni,Yupitawati Ani,Nurulita Nunuk Aries 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2021 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.21 No.1

Tetrahydrocurcumin has potent antioxidant activity and depigmentation of the skin. Centella asiatica extract can stimulate the formation of collagen, thus reducing wrinkles in aging skin. The combination of tetrahydrocurcumin (THC) and Centella asiatica extract (CAE) is expected to improve various parameters of premature aging. This study used pre-test post-test control group design. Mice were randomized into 5 test groups. The dorsal part of the mice was shaved, and then various anti-aging parameters, including skin sensitivity, moisture content, collagen levels, elasticity, and large pores, were meas-ured using a skin analyzer. Furthermore, the dorsal was smeared with a cream base for the negative control (NC) group, a cream containing ethyl ascorbyl ether for the positive control (PC) group, a cream containing THC for THC group, a cream containing CAE for the CAE group, and a cream containing THC and CAE for the Combination group, each with a dose of 2 mg/cm2 before and after UV irradiation. After treatment for four weeks, the anti-aging parameters were measured again. The combination of THC and CAE could increase the collagen and elasticity levels compared to THC and CAE itself, but the increase was not significant. Based on all anti-aging parameters scores, THC and CAE’s combination did not provide more significant anti-aging activity than single THC and single CAE.

Does Audit Committee Quality Mediate Determinants of Intellectual Capital Disclosure?

ASTUTI, Resa Nur,FACHRURROZIE, Fachrurrozie,AMAL, Muhammad Ihlashul,ZAHRA, Siti Fatimah Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.7

This study investigates the direct and indirect effects, mediated by audit committee quality, of managerial ownership, institutional ownership, and profitability on intellectual capital (IC) disclosure. The object observed of this study is companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the 2014-2018 period that are classified as high intellectual capital-intensive industries. Based on the sampling method, purposive sampling, 51 companies were selected as samples. This study used path analysis techniques with IBM SPSS version 25 to study the direct and indirect influences of managerial ownership, institutional ownership, and profitability toward IC disclosure. The results of this study show that managerial ownership, profitability and audit committee quality have a significant positive effect on IC disclosure whereas institutional ownership has significant negative effect on IC disclosure. This study also provides empirical evidence, supported by the sobel test, that the audit committee quality is able to mediate the effect of institutional ownership and profitability on IC disclosure. However, the audit committee quality is not able to mediate the effect of managerial ownership on IC disclosure. These findings develop and strengthen the results of prior studies related to the implementation of signaling theory and agency theory in devoting more understanding about IC disclosure.

      • A 12-Week Rehabilitation Protocol for the Management of Chronic Extensor Hallucis Longus Rupture Repaired with an Autograft of the Semitendinosus Tendon

Astuti Pitarini,Mitchel,Karina Sylvana Gani,Ratna Moniqa,Erica Kholinne Ewha Womans University School of Medicine 2023 EMJ (Ewha medical journal) Vol.46 No.4

Traumatic rupture of the extensor hallucis longus (EHL) is an uncommon finding in an outpatient setting. Surgical repair is typically necessary, particularly in chronic conditions that have persisted for six weeks or more. While several studies have reported EHL repair using autograft tendons, rehabilitation regimes vary, and standardized protocols have not yet been established. This case report presents with an inability to extend her left great toe. She underwent tendon reconstruction with an autograft semitendinosus tendon. At an 8-week follow-up, the patient reported greatly improved outcomes on the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Foot and Ankle Ability Measure, Foot and Ankle Disability Index questionnaire. Full recovery was achieved 12 weeks after surgery. The use of autograft semitendinosus tendon repair for chronic EHL tendon rupture, in conjunction with rehabilitation program, can be expected to yield favorable results.

Tobacco Control Stakeholder Perspectives on the Future of Tobacco Marketing Regulation in Indonesia: A Modified Delphi Study

Astuti, Putu Ayu Swandewi,Assunta, Mary,Freeman, Becky The Korean Society for Preventive Medicine 2021 예방의학회지 Vol.54 No.5

Objectives: Tobacco control in Indonesia is very lenient compared to international standards. This study explored the perspectives of tobacco control stakeholders (TCSs) on the likelihood of advancing tobacco marketing regulation in Indonesia. Methods: Data were collected from TCSs who were members of the Indonesia Tobacco Control Network group in a modified Delphi study. We collected the data in 2 waves using a questionnaire that comprised a set of closed and open-ended questions. For this paper, we analysed 2 of the 3 sections of the questionnaire: (1) tobacco advertising, promotions, and sponsorship (TAPS) bans, and (2) marketing and retailing regulations. We conducted a descriptive analysis of the scores using Stata/IC.13 and summarised the comments for each item. Results: The TCSs viewed the measures/strategies across all aspects of TAPS and tobacco marketing regulation as highly desirable, but provided varied responses on their feasibility. They rated political feasibility lower than technical feasibility for most measures. Advancing TAPS measures and prohibition of selling to minors were considered more attainable by sub-national governments, while prohibition of tobacco corporate social responsibility was considered as the least feasible measure in the next 5 years. Conclusions: Despite little optimism for substantial national-level change, there is a positive expectation that sub-national governments will strengthen their tobacco control regulation. It is paramount that the government reduce tobacco industry leverage by implementing Article 5.3 of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Extending advocacy networks beyond tobacco control groups and framing tobacco control more effectively are necessary steps.

Nutrient Balance and Glucose Metabolism of Female Growing, Late Pregnant and Lactating Etawah Crossbred Goats

Astuti, D.A.,Sastradipradja, D.,Sutardi, T. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2000 Animal Bioscience Vol.13 No.8

A study involving nutrient balances and radioisotope labeling techniques was undertaken to study energy and protein metabolism, and glucose kinetics of female crossbred Etawah goats, using 12 weaned (BW $14.0{\pm}2.0kg$), 12 late pregnant (BW $27.8{\pm}1.8kg$) and 12 first lactation does (BW $25.0{\pm}5.0kg$). Each class of animal was randomly allotted into 3 dietary treatment groups R1, R2 and R3, that received 100%, 85%, and 70% of ad libitum feed. The rations offered were pellets containing 21.8% CP and 19.3 MJ GE/kg, except for the lactating does who received pellets (17.2% CP and 18.9 MJ GE/kg) and fresh Penisetum purpureum grass. Energy and nitrogen balance studies were conducted during a two-week trial. Daily heat production (HP, estimated by the carbon dioxide entry rate technique), glucose pool and flux were measured. Equations were found for metabolizable energy (ME) and protein intake (IP) requirements for growing goats: ME (MJ/d)=1.87+0.55 RE-0.001 ADG+0.044 RP $(R^2=0.89)$ and IP (g/d)=48.47+2.99 RE+0.029 ADG+0.79 RP $(R^2=0.90)$; for pregnant does: ME (MJ/d)=5.92+0.96 RE-0.002 ADG+0.003 RP $(R^2=0.99)$ and IP (g/d)=58.34+5.41 RE+0.625 ADG-0.30 RP $(R^2=0.98)$; and for lactating does: ME (MJ/d)=4.23+0.713 RE+0.003 ADG+0.006 RP+0.002 MY $(R^2=0.86)$; IP (g/d)=84.05-5.36 RE+0.055 ADG-0.16 RP+0.068 MY $(R^2=0.45)$, where RE is retained energy (MJ/d), ADG is average daily gain in weight (g/d), RP is retained protein (g/d) and MY is milk yield (ml/d). ME and IP requirements for maintenance for growing goats were 0.46 MJ/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$ and 7.43 g/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$, respectively. Values for the pregnant and lactating does were in the same order, 0.55 MJ/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$ and 11.7 g/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$, and 0.50 MJ/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$ and 10.8 g/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$, respectively. Milk protein ranged from 3.06 to 3.5% and milk fat averaged 5.2%. Glucose metabolism in Etawah crossbred female goat is active, but glucose flux is low compared to temperate ruminant breeds which may implicate its role to support production.

Effect of  density between  intercropped sorghum and  stylosanthes on biomass production and quality under varying NPK fertilizer application rates

Dian Astuti,Bambang Suhartanto,Nafiatul Umami,Agung Irawan 한국작물학회 2020 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.23 No.3

This field study was conducted to investigate the effect of spaced-row pattern and NPK fertilizer rates on productivity and quality of inter cropped sorghum and Stylosanthes guianensis. Three spaced-row pattern (S1 = 90x20 cm, S2 = 75x25 cm, and S3 = 60x30 cm, respectively) and NPK fertilizer application rates (N1 = 0 without NPK, N2 = 100 kg/ha, N3 = 200 kg/ha, respectively) were investigated under two local sorghum varieties (V1 = var. Kawali and V2 = var. Super-2) in a 2x3x3 split-split-plot design. Intercropped sorghum x stylosanthes in S3 resulted in higher dry matter (DM) content and biomass production than that in S1. NPK fertilization significantly increased DM and organic matter (OM) production by 16.2–115.0% and 16.1–115.2%, respectively, compared to those without NPK fertilization. Interaction effects of V x NPK and V x S x NPK were detected that contributing to the increase in biomass and nutrient quality of the forages. In vitro DM and OM digestibility rates for V1-S were higher than at V2-S. In conclusion, V2 produced a higher biomass, whereas V1 was superior in terms of nutrient quality. Spaced-row at 60x30 cm and 100 kg/ha of NPK were efficient in improving the productivity and nutrient quality of sorghum and stylosanthes.
