Robust Design of an Anticipative Feedforward-feedback Controller for MIMO Systems
Asma Achnib,Tudor-Bogdan Airimitoaie,Patrick Lanusse 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.3
In this paper, multi-input multi-output preview systems, for which future values of the reference and disturbance signals are known a number of time-steps ahead, are considered. The paper focuses on designing control algorithms that improve the performance of the closed-loop system taking into account the preview information. A robust anticipative controller described through an L∞/L2 optimisation problem is proposed. Its design focuses on the minimization of the tracking error in the presence of disturbances while at the same time limiting the control input amplitude. The proposed solution combines a robust feedback controller with a preview feedforward filter. The feedback controller’s purpose is to ensure the robustness of the closed-loop system to model uncertainties. The proposed solution is assessed by using the model of a MIMO system with uncertain parameters.

Climate change has become a major challenge for sustainable development of human society. This study is an attempt to analyze existing literature to identify economic indicators that hamper the process of global warming. This paper includes case studies based on various countries to examine the nexus for environment and its relationship with Foreign Direct Investment, transportation, economic growth and energy consumption. Furthermore, the observations are analyzed from the perspective of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and probable impact on carbon emission of Pakistan. A major portion of CPEC investment is allocated for transportation. However, it is evident that transportation sector is substantial emitter of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. Unfortunately, there is no empirical work on the subject of CPEC and carbon emission for vehicular transportation. This paper infers that empirical results from various other countries are ambiguous and inconclusive. Moreover, the evidence for the pollution haven hypothesis and the halo effect hypothesis is limited in general and inapplicable for CPEC in particular. The major contribution of this study is the proposal of an energy efficient transportation model for reducing CO2 emission. In the end, the paper suggests strategies to climate researchers and policymakers for adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse gases (GHG).

This study evaluated the applicability of the adsorption of a widely used organophosphorous pesticide named diazinon, from aqueous using a new composite consisting of nan-TiO2 and polypropylene (Nano-PP/TiO2). The Nano-PP/TiO2 was prepared by wet heat with submerging in an ultrasonic chamber. Extraction and analysis of diazinon were accomplished with dispersive liquid-liquid-microextraction and gas chromatography. By using FTIR, SEM, TEM, and BET technologies, specifications of Nano-PP/TiO2 structure were determined. Adsorption equilibrium and kinetics of diazinon were investigated in a batch reactor and the effects of adsorbent dose, contact time, and initial concentrations of diazinon were assessed. It was found that the two-parameter models arranged the data better than the three-parameter, and the equilibrium data was represented properly by the Langmuir. Additionally, it was identified that adsorption followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. To optimize the conditions for maximum adsorption of diazinon, response surface methodology was implemented the effects of factors on the adsorption efficiency were surveyed. The values of optimal initial diazinon concentration, contact time, and mass of Nano-PP/TiO2 were obtained at 10mg L1, 32.2min, and 2.25 g L1, respectively. Based on the results, the Nano-PP/TiO2 can be used as an effective and efficient adsorbent for the removal of diazinon from aqueous.

A modified cloud point extraction method (m-CPE) was developed for the speciation of chromium species (Cr3+ and Cr6+) in artificial saliva extracts (ASE) of snuff products. In this method, Cr3+ was complexed with 8-hydroxyquinoline, which was trapped in nonionic surfactant (Triton X-114), prior to analyzed by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometer (ETAAS). Whereas, the total extractable Cr was determined by reducing Cr6+ to Cr3+ using Na2SO3 as a reducing reagent. Several parameters were optimized for the developed m-CPE. Under the most favorable conditions, enrichment factor, enhancement factor and limit of detection for the proposed method were 60, 134 and 0.04 μg L−1, respectively having relative standard deviation <5%. Health risks associated with the intake of total Cr in snuff products was also assessed. Estimated daily intake of Cr via sniffing 10 g/day of dry and moist snuff products was found below the maximum tolerable daily intake whereas the calculated risk for cancer due to Cr was observed in the acceptable range of 10 E−6–E−4.

The failure of civil engineering systems is a consequence of decision making under uncertain conditions. Generally, buried flexible pipes are designed for their transversal behavior to prevent from the important failure mode of buckling. However, the interaction effects between soil and pipe are neglected and the uncertainties in their properties are usually not considered in pipe design. In this regard, the present research paper evaluates the effects of these uncertainties on the uncertainty of the critical buckling hoop force of flexible pipes shallowly buried using the subgrade reaction theory (Winkler model) and First-Order Second-Moment (FOSM) method. The results show that the structural uncertainties of the studied pipes and those of the soil properties have a significant effect on the uncertainty of the critical buckling hoop force, and therefore taking into account these latter in the design of the shallowly flexible pipes for their buckling behavior is required.

In this study, 2-N-arylimino-2,3-dihydro-1,3,4-thiadiazoles derivatives (6a-h) were synthetized. The mechanism of the studied reactions was discussed. The chemical structures of the compounds were elucidated by their IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and Mass spectral data and elemental analyses. The compounds were tested for antimicrobial activity using diffusion agar technique.

In this article, we proposed a control chart based on the exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) statistic for monitoring count data following a Geometric-Poisson (GP) distribution by adopting a repetitive sampling scheme. The performance of the proposed control chart is assessed in terms of the average run length (ARL) and the standard deviation of run length (SDRL) at various process shifts and various specified parameter values. It has been analyzed that the proposed control chart is more efficient than an existing EWMA chart based on single sampling in terms of ARLs.

A wind energy assessment is an integrated analysis of the potential of wind energy resources ofa particular area. In this work, the wind energy potentials for Mauritius have been assessed using aComputational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model. The approach employed in this work aims to enhance theassessment of wind energy potentials for the siting of large-scale wind farms in the island. Validation of themodel is done by comparing simulated wind speed data to experimental ones measured at specific locationsover the island. The local wind velocity resulting from the CFD simulations are used to compute theweighted-sum power density including annual directional inflow variations determined by wind roses. Themodel is used to generate contour maps of velocity and power, for Mauritius at a resolution of 500 m.

The performance of seawater hybrid NF/RO desalination plant including permeate conductivity; permeate flow rate and permeate recovery. Under different feed parameters time, inlet temperature, inlet pressure, inlet conductivity and inlet flow rate were modelled by Artificial Neural Network (ANN) back-propagation based on Levenberg– Marquardt training algorithm. The optimal ANN model had a 5-8-3 architecture with a hyperbolic tangent transfer function in hidden layer and linear transfer function at the output layer. The ability of ANN performed model was compared with multiple linear regression (MLR). The results show that MLR is not satisfactory for predicting the performance of NF/RO hybrid desalination process with a correlation coefficient about 0.6. The trained ANN model has presented a good agreement between the prediction and the experimental data during the training with reasonable statistical metrics values (RMSE, MAE and AARD). The coefficient of determination values for the prediction of permeate conductivity, permeate flow rate and recovery by ANN were 0.969, 0.942, and 0.963, respectively. Therefore, the ANN model can successfully predict the performance of NF/RO hybrid seawater desalination plant.
