An Independent Evaluation of the Federal Reserve’s New Monetary Policy Framework
( Andrew T. Levin ),( Arunima Sinha ),( Sinem Sonmez ) 한국금융연구원 2022 금융연구 working paper Vol.2022 No.7
In August 2020, the FOMC made substantive changes to the monetary policy framework that had been in place since 2012, including the adoption of average inflation targeting and the discontinuation of quantitative assessments of maximum employment. Our analysis indicates that these changes have significantly reduced the transparency of the FOMC’s policy strategy, which could be particularly problematic in a context of elevated inflation and continuing employment shortfalls. Indeed, with inflation now running far above the FOMC’s target, the current stance of monetary policy has become severely misaligned, with the real interest rate markedly lower than its neutral level (r*) and the federal funds rate far below the Taylor Rule and other simple policy benchmarks.

In this paper, a unique fi fth-order converter consisting of one Boost and one SEPIC converter designed for dc grid application. This converter is suitable to draw power from two dc sources simultaneously and individually. It has two-switches that is used to fulfill the load power requirement with a minimum ripple in source current. The proposed multi-input converter (MIC) suitability is confi rmed by experimental and simulation results performed in three different modes of operations. The decentralized voltage-mode and current-mode controllers are designed to ensure the constant load voltage and source current. A 48 V 150 W prototype MIC is developed in the laboratory. Dynamic performance and steady-state performance, along with simulation results, are compared with the experimental work. The PSIM and MATLAB software are used for simulation and analysis purposes. A dsPIC33FJ64GS610 micro-controller-based prototype has been developed in the laboratory for experimental results.
Bioadsorbents for remediation of heavy metals: Current status and their future prospects

The biosorption process has been established as characteristics of dead biomasses of both cellulosic and microbial origin to bind metal ion pollutants from aqueous suspension. The high effectiveness of this process even at low metal concentration, similarity to ion exchange treatment process, but cheaper and greener alternative to conventional techniques have resulted in a mature biosorption technology. Yet its adoption to large scale industrial wastewaters treatment has still been a distant reality. The purpose of this review is to make in-depth analyses of the various aspects of the biosorption technology, staring from the various biosorbents used till date and the various factors affecting the process. The design of better biosorbents for improving their physico-chemical features as well as enhancing their biosorption characteristics has been discussed. Better economic value of the biosorption technology is related to the repeated reuse of the biosorbent with minimum loss of efficiency. In this context desorption of the metal pollutants as well as regeneration of the biosorbent has been discussed in detail. Various inhibitions including the multi mechanistic role of the biosorption technology has been identified which have played a contributory role to its non-commercialization.

Snow-avalanches are responsible for loss of life and damage to infrastructure in mountainous areas across the world. The present study aims to integrate traditional knowledge with Geographic Information System (GIS) for generation of snow-avalanche susceptibility map for Kargil-Ladakh Region of Trans-Himalayas. The avalanche susceptibility map has been generated using Analytical Hierarchal Process (AHP) method by combining avalanche inventory with avalanche influencing factors. The avalanche susceptibility map generated for the region reveals that around (60%) of area falls under low to very-low susceptibility classes, while as, around (21%) area falls in the moderate susceptibility zone. Approximately (19%) area is comprised of high and veryhigh susceptibility classes. The findings reveal that high and very-high susceptible zones are located in the northern part of study area which is having a relatively high population concentration along with higher road and lineament density. The moderate susceptibility zones are mostly spread in the vicinity of local highways and road-networks across the region. The low and very-low susceptibility classes are either located at higher elevations or in areas with unfavorable snow-avalanche conditions. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) method was used for validation of results which conforms a high accuracy of 84%. The findings of the study could be helpful in formulation of effective avalanche mitigation strategies in this strategic border region of India.

This paper explores dynamics of variables that better account for the concept of risk perception. This study examines the relationships between technology optimism, religiosity, political ideology, situational perceptual frames, and risk perception about new food technologies such as the issue of genetically-modified organism (GMO) food. In addition, it compares the differences displayed by public types and gender in risk perception and in technology optimism (64 words).
