Electroanalytical Measurement of TEDA (Triethylenediamine) in the Masks of War

Ariani, Zahra,Honarmand, Ebrahim,Mostaanzadeh, Hossein,Motaghedifard, Mohammadhassan,Behpour, Mohsen The Korean Electrochemical Society 2017 Journal of electrochemical science and technology Vol.8 No.1

In this paper, for the first time, the electroanalytical study of Triethylenediamine, TEDA was done on a typically graphene modified carbon paste electrode (Gr/CPE) in pH=10.5 of phosphate buffer solutions (PBS). The surface morphology of the bare and modified electrodes was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The electro-oxidation of TEDA was investigated at the surface of modified electrode. The results revealed that the oxidation peak current of TEDA at the surface of Gr/CPE is 2.70 times than that shown at bare-CPE. A linear calibration plot was observed in the range of 1.0 to 202.0 ppm. In this way, the detection limit was found to be 0.18 ppm. The method was then successfully applied to determination of TEDA in aqueous samples obtained from two kinds of activated carbon from the masks of war. On the other hand, density functional theory (DFT) method at B3LYP/6-311++G** level of theory and a conductor-like Polarizable Continuum Model (CPCM) was used to calculate the $pK_a$ values of TEDA. The energies of lowest unoccupied molecular orbital ($E_{LUMO}$) and highest occupied molecular orbital ($E_{HOMO}$), gap energy (${\Delta}E$) and some thermodynamic parameters such as Gibbs free energy of TEDA and its conjugate acid ($HT^+$) were calculated. The results of calculated $pK_a$ were found to be in good agreement with the experimental values.

Sharia-based Stocks: Do Muslim Investors Prefer Metaphysical or Materialistic Returns?

Linda Ariany MAHASTANTI,Marwan ASRI,Bernardinus M. PURWANTO,Eddy JUNARSIN 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.1

Faith-based investment instruments, such as sharia-based stocks, have developed rapidly in recent years. When investing in these instruments, investors tend to emphasize materialistic returns as measured with monetary returns and metaphysical returns, such as blessings from God (Allah) because of their observance of Islamic teachings. In this respect, it is important to investigate the role of individuals’ religiosity in investment decision making in Sharia-based financial products. An equally crucial research question is whether individuals’ religiosity levels affect expected material returns as measured by the tolerable negative returns of sharia-based stocks. This study relies on a survey method that involves university students in Java island who actively invest through the Investment Gallery of their faculties/ universities as the sample. Data is then analysed with the multinomial regression analysis technique. The results show that individuals who are more observant of their religious teachings are more likely to fully invest their funds in Sharia-based stocks and exhibit greater tolerance towards the negative returns of Sharia-based stocks. The findings indicate that Muslim investors who are more observant of Islamic teachings emphasize metaphysical returns from their investment decisions.

Dosage-Related Prebiotic Effects of Inulin in Formula-Fed Infants

        Hanifah Oswari,Ariani Dewi Widodo,Frieda Handayani,Mohammad Juffrie,Tonny Sundjaya,Jacques Bindels,Badriul Hegar 대한소아소화기영양학회 2019 Pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology & nutrition Vol.22 No.1

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the minimally meaningful dosage of inulin leading to a prebiotic effect in Indonesian infants. Methods: In a randomized controlled double-blinded, parallel, 3-arm intervention study, 164 healthy formula-fed infants aged 3 to 5 months first obtained formula-A (without inulin) during a 4-week adaptation period. Subsequently, 142 subjects were subjected to a 4-week feeding period by administering either formula-A (no inulin), formula-B (0.2 g/100 mL inulin) or formula-C (0.4 g/100 mL inulin). The primary outcome parameter was %-bifidobacteria in faecal samples determined using quantitative polymerase chain reaction analyses. Secondary outcome parameters were faecal %-lactobacilli, pH and stool frequency, and consistency. Growth and tolerance/adverse effects were recorded as safety parameters. Results: Typical %-bifidobacteria and %-lactobacilli at the end of the adaptation period in the study population were 14% and 2%, respectively. For faecal pH, significant differences between formula groups A vs. C and A vs. B were found at the end of the intervention period. Testing for differences in faecal %-bifidobacteria and %-lactobacilli between groups was hampered by non-normal data set distributions; no statistically significant differences were obtained. Comparisons within groups revealed that only in formula group C, all the three relevant parameters exhibited a significant effect with an increase in faecal %-bifidobacteria and %-lactobacilli and a decrease in pH. Conclusion: A consistent prebiotic effect along with a decrease in pH and increase in %-bifidobacteria and %-lactobacilli was found only in the group administered 0.4 g inulin/100 mL.

Frey’s Procedure for Chronic Pancreatitis in an Adolescent with Recurrent Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding: A Case Report

        Adianto Nugroho,Ariani Dewi Widodo,Indah Jamtani,Asri Dwi Rachmawati 대한췌장담도학회 2022 대한췌담도학회지 Vol.27 No.4

Chronic fibroinflammatory pancreatitis causes irreparable damage to the pancreatic parenchyma. This frequently results in food restrictions, painkiller addiction, and serious quality of life impairment in children. We observed a 13-year-old girl who had previously been hospitalized multiple times and had undergone acute pancreatitis arrived with excruciating abdominal pain and recurrent hematemesis. A chronic intra-pseudocyst bleed and an ampulla of Vater hemorrhage were discovered during an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. A 3×2×1 cm pancreatic head pseudocyst was discovered on the magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography, however the computed tomography scan revealed a pancreatic head pseudocyst, pancreatic duct stones, and substantial peripancreatic inflammation. The multidisciplinary team determined that Frey’s surgery was the most efficient method to minimize her suffering. No complications occurred during the healing phase following surgery, and two years later, neither recurrence bleeding nor abdominal pain appeared. In summary, Frey’s method is a secure and efficient intervention when applied by a multidisciplinary team.

Protective Effects of Anthocyanin Extract from Purple Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) on Blood MDA Levels, Liver and Renal Activity, and Blood Pressure of Hyperglycemic Rats

Ervika Rahayu Novita Herawati,Umar Santosa,Suharwadji Sentana,Dini Ariani 한국식품영양과학회 2020 Preventive Nutrition and Food Science Vol.25 No.4

There has been a dynamic progression in the study of purple sweet potatoes, particularly in regard to their antioxidant compounds, such as anthocyanins. Antioxidants can reduce oxidative stress due to hyperglycemia, therefore research into the protective effects of hyperglycemia is essential. This study was conducted to investigate the protective effects of anthocyanin extracts from purple sweet potatoes on blood malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, liver and renal activity, and blood pressure in hyperglycemic rats. Anthocyanin from purple sweet potato (APSP) was extracted with ethanol-citric acid 3% solvent. Twenty-four rats were split into four experimental groups: (i) healthy rats; (ii) hyperglycemic rats without anthocyanin treatment; (iii) hyperglycemic rats treated with APSP extract at a dose of 50 mg/kg; and (iv) hyperglycemic rats treated with APSP extract at a dose of 100 mg/kg. Rats received treatment for 35 days. The results showed that consumption of APSP significantly reduced levels of MDA in the blood, and liver and renal systems. APSP could reduce the urea and creatinine levels, which are indicative of improved renal function. In addition, APSP could decrease serum glutamate oxalacetate transaminase and serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase levels, indicative of protective activity of the extract on liver, and decrease systolic blood pressure. Accordingly, it was concluded that APSP could be developed as a functional food for treatment of diabetes.

The study comprises all divisions of the undergraduate program, which amounted to 207 people. The method for sampling is based on simple random sampling. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is applied in order to analyze the data. The results show that integrative adaptive leadership style has a positive effect on teamwork and affective commitment. Therefore, in order to improve teamwork, the organization should be assisted in completing the introduction of collaborative conflict resolution. Moreover, affective commitment positively affects organizational effectiveness. Thus, it can be said that efforts to improve the organizational effectiveness, should be supported by affective commitment. The study further revealed that integrative adaptive leadership style has a positive effect on teamwork. This means better execution of integrative adaptive leadership, higher level of coordination and vice versa. Each member has different responsibilities and duties, and it can be done or resolved in different ways. If the leader can accommodate the creativity of the faculty and staff, a solid team can be formed.
