The analysis of biographical narratives of a Japanese family, native to Okinawa, shows how generational metamemory mirrors the history of the first hundred years of Japanese immigration to Peru. The memories of this family are broadly consistent with the historical facts. The 'family history' highlights the significant social changes that suffered the Japanese-Peruvian community and personalizes the psychosocial processes linking each Nikkei(Japanese-Peruvian) with Japan and Peru. The generational metamemory of the narratives explains the development and change of a Japanese identity to a fusion Japanese-Peruvian identity.

Over the last few years, percutaneous radiofrequency (RF) ablation has been successfully established as a viable treatment modality for small peripheral renal cell carcinoma (RCC). This technique is limited by central tumor location and tumor size. We report the interventional management of a 5.3 cm mixed RCC with central and exophytic parts by combining the RF ablation with embolization, tagging, and retrograde, as well as anterograde cooling. The potential pitfalls of complex hybrid interventions for treating RCC are discussed.

저자들은 한국과 뉴질랜드에서 채집된 철선충(Gordius 속)의 표피상에 나타난 관상구조를 주사전자 현민경으로 관찰하였다. 한국산 철선충의 암컷 한 마리는 종을 동정할 수 없었으나 뉴질랜드산 철선충의 수컷 한 마리는 Gordius paranensis 로 동정되었다. 다른 뉴질랜드산 G. paranensis 수컷들에서는 표피상의 관상구조나 관상구조 저변의 소공들을 갖고 있지 않았다. 이로서 표피 관상구조는 종 특이성을 나타내는 구조물로는 속단하기 어려우나 그렇다고 이들은 조직과정 중의 오염물도 아니다. 이 관상구조물들은 충체의 샘조직의 산물로 여려지며 앞으로 이들의 내부구조등에 관한 연구가 있어야 할 것이다. 철선충 표피상의 관상구조물은 처음 보고되는 것이다. We describe tubular structures on the cuticle of two representatives of the genus Gordius by scanning electron microscopy. One female from Korea could not be identified further while a male from New Zealand belonged to Gordius paranensis. Other male specimens of G. paranensis did not show tubular structures or the corresponding pores on the cuticle. Therefore it is assumed that tubular structures are not species-specific structures, but also no artifacts or contaminations. They might be glandular products, but this has to be verified by further documentations and investigation of the inner structure of it.

본 논문에서 주제화되는 것은 표현주의 사조와 관련하여 1910년부터 1920년까지 급변하던 매체의 영역이다. 이는 젊은 작가 세대들이 명성을 얻기 위해 노력하던 장소이자 자기표현의 장소로서, 그리고 이에 적합하게 혁신을 위한 기준점으로서 관찰될 것이다. 이러한 분석의 중심에는 표현주의 텍스트 속에 당시의 매체들이 의미심장하게 주제화되어 있다는 것뿐만 아니라 표현주의의 형상화방식에 있어 매체의 흔적들이 있다는 사실이 자리한다. 이러한 상황은 하나의 긴장관계를 형상하는데, 표현주의의 표현형식은 당시의 매체 형식에 연결되어 있지만, 동시에 그러한 연결지평의 진부함을 넘어서는 사명을 가진 예술적인 운동이어야 한다는 요구가 있었다는 것이다. 표현주의에서 서로 반대방향의 전략은 작품 속에서는 한편으로는 풍자적인 어조로서, 다른 한 편으로는 구원의 파토스로서 나타난다. 이러한 양식적, 미학적, 정치적으로 본질적인 기준들을 다루는데 있어서는 무엇보다 표현주의 영역 안에서의 매체적 자아발견과 자기연출에 대한 성찰이 먼저 선행되어야 한다. 이러한 성찰은 1900년대의 지식인들의 하비투스를 관찰하는 것이기도 하지만, 이른바 "표현주의 10년" 시기 예술의 현대화와 매체화에 있어서 문화사적인 문제점을 탐구하는 작은 기여가 될 것이다.
Microencapsulation of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB)

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are added to different food products for a long time due to health beneficial effects on human host. LAB is applied in dairy products, such as yoghurt, cheese, and various fermented products, and also in non-dairy prod-ucts, such as sausages. However, reaching the human gut alive as well as in a sufficient cell amount to exert positive health effects is still a big challenge, due to LAB sensitive character and vulnerability against harsh and detrimental conditions in human digestive system. Keeping physiological activity of sensitive LAB strains alive is for the formulation of novel food products with a probiotic health claim of utmost interest, thus microencapsulation has been applied and investigated as a promising technique for a good and reliable protection. Microencapsulation allows reduced cell injury or cell loss by retain-ing cells within the encapsulating membrane and can be enforced by spray-drying, emulsion, extrusion, and a range of other technologies in combination with an appropriate coating material, such as alginate, chitosan, and mixture of these two poly-mers. In this review, established and well-studied microencapsulation techniques with their favored coating materials, as well as the recent applications of microencapsulated LAB into dairy products will be discussed.
The ‘New Regionalism’: Integration as a Commitment Device for Developing Countries

Increasingly, developing countries embrace foreign direct investment (FDI) and simultaneously pursue economic integration with developed countries. Foreign investment is subject to sovereign risk and free trade agreements may serve as a commitment mechanism in order to achieve higher sustainable levels of FDI. This paper shows that such agreements, by inducing sunk investments in expanding export sectors, can indeed increase the level of self-enforcing FDI. While one might expect FDI from any source to increase, the analysis shows that this need not be true for FDI originating in non-partner countries even though exportplatform type FDI will rise. The reason is the offsetting effect from trade diversion, which diminishes the ability to retaliate should a host country renege on its ex ante commitment to a foreign investor. The choice of partner is thus crucial for a country`s ability to attract FDI through economic integration.
Yin and Yang - the Gastric X,A-Like Cell as Possible Dual Regulator of Food Intake

Ingestion of food affects secretion of hormones from enteroendocrine cells located in the gastrointestinal mucosa. These hormones are involved in the regulation of various gastrointestinal functions including the control of food intake. One cell in the stomach, the X/A-like has received much attention over the past years due to the production of ghrelin. Until now, ghrelin is the only known orexigenic hormone that is peripherally produced and centrally acting to stimulate food intake. Subsequently, additional peptide products of this cell have been described including desacyl ghrelin, obestatin and nesfatin-1. Desacyl ghrelin seems to be involved in the regulation of food intake as well and could play a counter-balancing role of ghrelin`s orexigenic effect. In contrast, the initially proposed anorexigenic action of obestatin did not hold true and therefore the involvement of this peptide in the regulation of feeding is questionable. Lastly, the identification of nesfatin-1 in the same cell in different vesicles than ghrelin extended the function of this cell type to the inhibition of feeding. Therefore, this X/A-like cell could play a unique role by encompassing yin and yang properties to mediate not only hunger but also satiety.
