A Review of Inflammatory Processes of the Breast with a Focus on Diagnosis in Core Biopsy Samples
Timothy M. D’Alfonso,Paula S. Ginter,Sandra J. Shin 대한병리학회 2015 Journal of Pathology and Translational Medicine Vol.49 No.4
Inflammatory and reactive lesions of the breast are relatively uncommon among benign breast lesions and can be the source of an abnormality on imaging. Such lesions can simulate a malignant process, based on both clinical and radiographic findings, and core biopsy is often performed to rule out malignancy. Furthermore, some inflammatory processes can mimic carcinoma or other malignancy microscopically, and vice versa. Diagnostic difficulty may arise due to the small and fragmented sample of a core biopsy. This review will focus on the pertinent clinical, radiographic, and histopathologic features of the more commonly encountered inflammatory lesions of the breast that can be characterized in a core biopsy sample. These include fat necrosis, mammary duct ectasia, granulomatous lobular mastitis, diabetic mastopathy, and abscess. The microscopic differential diagnoses for these lesions when seen in a core biopsy sample will be discussed.
Finite sets with fake observable cardinality
Alfonso Artigue 대한수학회 2015 대한수학회보 Vol.52 No.1
Let $X$ be a compact metric space and let $|A|$ denote the cardinality of a set $A$. We prove that if $f\colon X\to X$ is a homeomorphism and $|X|=\infty$, then for all $\delta>0$ there is $A\subset X$ such that $|A|=4$ and for all $k\in\Z$ there are $x,y\in f^k(A)$, $x\neq y$, such that $\dist(x,y)<\delta$. An observer that can only distinguish two points if their distance is grater than $\delta$, for sure will say that $A$ has at most 3 points even knowing every iterate of $A$ and that $f$ is a homeomorphism. We show that for hyper-expansive homeomorphisms the same $\delta$-observer will not fail about the cardinality of $A$ if we start with $|A|=3$ instead of $4$. Generalizations of this problem are considered via what we call $(m,n)$-expansiveness.
SOME INEQUALITIES ON TOTALLY REAL SUBMANIFOLDS IN LOCALLY CONFORMAL KAEHLER SPACE FORMS
Alfonso, Carriazo,Kim, Young-Ho,Yoon, Dae-Won Korean Mathematical Society 2004 대한수학회지 Vol.41 No.5
In this article, we establish sharp relations between the sectional curvature and the shape operator and also between the k-Ricci curvature and the shape operator for a totally real submanifold in a locally conformal Kaehler space form of constant holomorphic sectional curvature with arbitrary codimension. mean curvature, sectional curvature, shape operator, k-Ricci curvature, locally conformal Kaehler space form, totally real submanifold.
Biological imaging with coherent Raman scattering microscopy: a tutorial
Alfonso-Garcí,a, Alba,Mittal, Richa,Lee, Eun Seong,Potma, Eric O. SOCIETY OF PHOTO-OPTICAL INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERS 2014 JOURNAL OF BIOMEDICAL OPTICS Vol.19 No.7

Coherent Raman scattering (CRS) microscopy is gaining acceptance as a valuable addition to the imaging toolset of biological researchers. Optimal use of this label-free imaging technique benefits from a basic understanding of the physical principles and technical merits of the CRS microscope. This tutorial offers qualitative explanations of the principles behind CRS microscopy and provides information about the applicability of this nonlinear optical imaging approach for biological research.

Industry 4.0, Circular Economy, and Tourism
Alfonso Vargas-Sánchez 한국데이터전략학회 2022 Journal of information technology applications & m Vol.29 No.5
This research is situated at the intersection between industry 4.0, circular economy and tourism, in an attempt to observe the fourth industrial revolution at the service of the application of circular economy principles in the tourism industry. This approach has gained importance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has accelerated fundamental dynamics of change linked to business digitization and environmental sustainability. Within the theoretical framework delimited by the aforementioned intersection, the ‘goCircular Radar’ project, launched by ‘TheCircularLab’, from Ecoembes (Spain), has been taken as an empirical reference. Among the 165 startups in the circular economy sector, special attention has been paid to those that are oriented, or have a potential application, to tourism. The activities they carry out are described, with particular attention to the technologies they use and their contribution to circularity.

Diverticula of the choledochus, better known as Todani type II cysts, are very rare and represent a predominantly pediatric pathology. Their identification by radiological methods, even if occasional, requires clinical doctors to request a surgical consultation, even for asymptomatic subjects, to proceed with their removal, given the risk of associated neoplasms. The laparoscopic approach for surgical treatment of these cysts has been recently introduced with excellent results. Due to the poor clinical records, currently there are neither shared protocols about their management nor long-term follow-up of operated patients. We report a case of an adult female suffering for years from biliary colic due to the presence of a duodenal diverticulum associated with microlithiasis’ cholecystitis, who was laparoscopically treated, with excellent results in terms of symptomatic regression, reduced hospitalization, and no surgery-related complications.
Effect of nixtamalization processes on mitigation of acrylamide formation in tortilla chips
Alfonso Topete-Betancourt,Juan de Dios Figueroa Ca´rdenas,Adriana Lizbeth Rodrı´guez-Lino,Elvira Rı´os-Leal,Eduardo Morales-Sa´nchez,He´ctor Eduardo Martı´nez-Flores 한국식품과학회 2019 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.28 No.4
Acrylamide can be generated from food componentsduring tortilla chips frying. Thus, the aim of thisresearch was to study different nixtamalization processesas traditional (TNP) with lime [Ca(OH)2], ecological(ENP) with CaCO3, classic nixtamalization (CNP) thatuses wood ash and extrusion (EXT) with no Ca?2 sourceon mitigating the acrylamide formation in deep-fat fryingtortilla chips. Acrylamide quantification was done throughHPLC–UV. Lower acrylamide content in tortilla chips wasfor CNP with 46.3 lg/kg, followed by TNP with 55.0 lg/kg, ENP with 694.6 lg/kg and EXP with 1443.4 lg/kg. Differences in acrylamide values among samples can berelated to effect of cations (Ca2?, Mg2?, Fe2?, Zn2?, Na?and K?) present in wood ashes, lime and salts used as rawmaterials. Correlation of (r = 0.85; p\0.0005) wasobserved in color of tortilla chips, moisture, texture, blisters, and oil with acrylamide. Nixtamalization process is aneffective and inexpensive strategy for acrylamidemitigation.
