      • Protective Effect of Soybean against Hepatocarcinogenesis Induced by DL-Ethionine

Aiad, Fatma,El-Gamal, Basiouny,Al-Meer, Jehan,El-Kerdasy, Zinab,Zakhary, Nadia,El-Aaser, Abdelbaset Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2004 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.37 No.3

There has been increasing interest in the value of using soybean to delay or reduce the tumor incidence. This study was undertaken to investigate the possible protective effects of soybean against hepatocarcinogenesis induced by DL-ethionine. Accordingly, we measured biochemical changes occurring in serum and liver of rats treated with DL-ethionine in the presence or absence of soybean. Male albino rats were fed a control diet containing the hepatocarcinogen, DL-ethionine, or the control diet plus soybean 30%, or the control diet plus soybean plus DL-ethionine 0.25% for three months and then returned to a control diet for up to nine months. Rats fed a control diet plus DL-ethionine showed a gradual decrease in liver DNA, RNA, total protein, and liver weight and enzyme activites of liver transaminases (GOT and GPT) and alkaline phosphatase over the 7-month study period. This was followed by a large increase in the liver parameters at the end of the $9^{th}$ month, except for 5'-nucleotidase and glucose-6-phosphatase that showed a large decrease. On the other hand, a gradual increase in the serum enzyme activities of GOT, GPT, 5-nucleotidase, alkaline phosphatase, and in the albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio is observed in the group of rats fed a control diet plus DL-ethionine compared to the control group over 8 months, and this was followed by a large increase in all serum parameters studied at nine-months. The administration of 30% soybean to the rat diet in addition to DL-ethionine maintained all parameters studied at near control values until the end of the $9^{th}$ month. This study suggests that soybean has a protective effect against the hepatocarcinogenesis induced by DL-ethionine.

Characterization, surface properties and biological activity of new prepared cationic surfactants

        Ismail Aiad,새미사반,Mohamed M. El-Sukkary,E.A. Soliman,Moshira Y. El-Awady 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.4

Three cationic surfactants were prepared. A condensation reaction between dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA) and benzaldehyde was performed. The produced Schiff base was quaternization with three fatty alkyl bromide with different carbon chain length separately to form the desired cationic surfactants. The chemical structure of synthesized cationic surfactants was confirmed by FTIR, 1H NMR and mass spectroscopy. It was found that the chemical structure of prepared compounds has an effect on surface properties, where increasing the hydrophobic chain length decrease the values of CMC, ’max while Amin value was increased. The thermodynamic parameters showed that adsorption and micellization processes are spontaneous. It is clear that the prepared cationic surfactants at first tend to adsorb at surface, then it aggregate to form micelle. The prepared surfactants showed good biological activity against gram positive and negative bacteria and fungi in the following order of II (C12) > I (C10) > III (C16). The serial dilution method was used to evaluate the inhibiting effect of these compounds on the sulfate reducing bacteria growth.

Inhibition of mild steel corrosion in acidic medium by some cationic surfactants

        Ismail Aiad,Mohamed M. El-Sukkary,E.A. Soliman,Moshira Y. El-Awady,새미사반 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.5

The inhibition effect of some cationic surfactants on the corrosion of mild steel in 1.0 M HCl solution was studied by weight loss at 25–70 ℃ while potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance were used at 25 ℃. The results showed that all synthesized inhibitors were good inhibitors and their inhibition efficiencies were significantly increased by increasing both the concentration and temperature. Polarization curves revealed that the studied inhibitors act as mixed-type of inhibitors. Double-layer capacitances decrease with respect to the blank solution when these inhibitors added due to adsorption of these inhibitors on the steel surface. The adsorption of these inhibitors was found to obey Villamil adsorption model.

        Ismail Aiad,Mohamed M. El-Sukkary,E.A. Soliman,Moshira Y. El-Awady,새미사반 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.5

The paper reported one-step in situ, facile and green synthesis of silver nanoparticles. In this technique, we had used the sun light as reducing agent as well as new prepared surfactant as catalyst and capping agent for reduction process and for sizing and shaping agent. The silver nanoparticles formation was investigated using UV–vis spectrophotometer, transmission electron microscope (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) and FTIR. The results showed formation uniform, well arrangement and hexagonal shape of silver nanoparticle. Both prepared surfactants and surfactants capping silver nanoparticles showed high antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gramnegative bacteria and also against sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB).

Evaluation of some cationic surfactants based on dimethylaminopropylamine as corrosion inhibitors

        새미사반,Ismail Aiad,Mohamed M. El-Sukkary,E.A. Soliman,Moshira Y. El-Awady 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.21 No.1

Three cationic surfactants based on Schiff base were evaluated as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel inacidic medium. Three techniques were used for the evaluation as corrosion inhibitors, namely; weightloss, polarization and electrochemical impedance. The results showed that all synthesized inhibitors aregood inhibitors and their inhibition efficiencies were significantly increased by increasing both theconcentration and temperatures. Polarization curves revealed that the studied inhibitors represent amixed-type inhibitors. Changes in impedance parameters such as charge transfer resistance, Rct, anddouble-layer capacitance, Cdl were indicative for adsorption of inhibitors on themetal surface, leading tothe formation of a protective film. The potentiodynamic polarization measurements indicated that theinhibitors are a mixed type. The adsorption of these inhibitors was found to obey Villamil adsorptionmodel.

1-Dodecyl-4-(((3-morpholinopropyl)imino)methyl)pyridin-1-ium bromide as a novel corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel during phosphoric acid production

M.A. Hegazy,I. Aiad 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.31 No.-

The corrosion inhibition properties of novel cationic surfactant on carbon steel in 7 M H3PO4 solutionhave been determined by weight loss, Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) methods. The results revealed that the synthesized cationic surfactant is a good corrosion inhibitor. The inhibition efficiency increases with increasing the inhibitor concentration but decreases with thetemperature increasing. The adsorption of inhibitor was found to obey the Langmuir adsorptionisotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization studies showed that the inhibitor acts as a mixed-type inhibitor. EIS results were analyzed to model inhibition process through appropriate equivalent circuit model.

Synthesis, characterization, surface and biocidal effect of some germinate nonionic surfactants

Mohamed F. Zaky,Ismail A. Aiad,AHMED SALAH MAHMOUD TAWFIK 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.21 No.1

Different fatty acid namely; palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acids and polyethylene glycol-600 werereacted to give nonionic surfactants. The formed nonionic surfactants were reacted with germaniumdioxide in presence of sodium carbonate to form germinates nonionic surfactants (I, II, III, and IV). Thechemical structures of the synthesized surfactants were characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectra. Thesynthesized surfactants showed higher surface activity at different temperature and surface parametersinfluenced by chemical structure of surfactants. The thermodynamic calculations showed thatadsorption and micellization processes are spontaneous. The synthesized surfactants showed goodantimicrobial activities against the tested microorganisms including Gram positive, Gram negative aswell as fungi. The promising inhibition efficiency of these compounds against the sulfate reducingbacteria facilitates them to be applicable in the petroleum field as new categories of sulfate reducingbacteria biocides.
