Tunable all-optical wavelength broadcasting in a PPLN with multiple QPM peaks.
Ahlawat, Meenu,Tehranchi, Amirhossein,Pandiyan, Krishnamoorthy,Cha, Myoungsik,Kashyap, Raman Optical Society of America 2012 Optics express Vol.20 No.24

We experimentally demonstrate tunable multiple-idler wavelength broadcasting of a signal to selective channels for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). This is based on cascaded χ(2) nonlinear mixing process in a novel multiple-QPM 10-mm-long periodically poled LiNbO3 having an aperiodic domain in the center. The idlers' spacing is varied utilizing detuning of the pump wavelength within the SHG bandwidth. The temperature-assisted tuning of QPM pump wavelengths allows shifting the idlers together to different set of WDM channels. Our experimental results indicate that an overall idler wavelength shift of less than 10 nm realized by selecting pump wavelengths via temperature tuning, is sufficient to cover up to 40 WDM channels for multiple idlers broadcasting.

An artificial neural network model for the microwave characteristics of an InGaAs/InP hemt for 70 nm gate length has been developed. The small-signal microwave parameters have been evaluated to determine the transconductance and drain-conductance. We have further investigated the frequency characteristics of the device. The neural network training have been done using the three layer architecture using Levenberg-Marqaurdt Backpropagation algorithm. The results have been compared with the experimental data, which shows a close agreement and the validity of our proposed model.
Genetic Relationship in Chicken Breeds Using Molecular Co-ancestry Information
Ahlawat, S.P.S.,Vijh, R.K.,Mishra, Bina,Kumar, S.T. Bharani,Tantia, M.S. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2008 Animal Bioscience Vol.21 No.1
Five chicken populations viz. Chittagong, Ghagus, Kalasthi, Kadaknath, Tellichery were genotyped using 25 highly polymorphic microsatellite loci. White leg horn was taken as an outgroup. To reveal the relationship and distinctiveness among five indigenous breeds various genetic distances based on molecular co-ancestry were estimated and multidimensional scaling was performed. The Ghagus and Kalasthi breeds were closely related and their separation was recent, whereas Chittagong had a remote ancestry with other indigenous chicken populations.

Single phase perovskite CaTiO3 has been synthesized by conventional solid state reaction technique. The ceramic was characterized by XRD at room temperature and its Rietveld refinement inferred orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Pbnm. The field dependence of dielectric relaxation and conductivity was measured over a wide frequency range from room temperature to 673 K. Analysis of Nyquist plots of CaTiO3 revealed the contribution of many electrically active regions corresponding to bulk mechanism, distribution of grain boundaries and electrode processes. The dc conductivity depicted a semiconductor to metal type transition. Frequency dependence of dielectric constant (ε') and tangent loss (tan δ) show a dispersive behavior at low frequencies and is explained on basis of Maxwell-Wagner model and Koop’s theory. Both conductivity and electric modulus formalisms have been employed to study the relaxation dynamics of charge carriers. The variation of ac conductivity with frequency at different temperatures obeys the universal Jonscher’s power law (σac α ωs). The values of exponent ‘s’ lie in the range 0.13 ≤ s ≤ 0.33, which in light of CBH model suggest a large polaron hopping type of conduction mechanism.

Purpose: There is sparse literature on treatment outcomes research on resectable oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC). The aim of this study was to measure the treatment outcomes, explore the failure patterns, and identify the potential clinicopathological prognostic factors affecting treatment outcomes for resectable OTSCC. Materials and Methods: It is a retrospective analysis of 202 patients with resectable OTSCC who underwent upfront primary surgical resection followed by adjuvant radiotherapy with or without concurrent chemotherapy if indicated. Results: The median follow-up was 35.2 months (range, 1.2 to 99.9 months). The median duration of locoregional control (LRC) was 84.9 months (95% confidence interval, 67.3-102.4). The 3- and 5-year LRC rate was 68.5% and 58.3%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that increasing pT stage, increasing pN stage, and the presence of extracapsular extension (ECE) were significantly associated with poorer LRC. The median duration of overall survival (OS) was not reached at the time of analysis. The 3- and 5-year OS rate was 70.5% and 66.6%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that increasing pT stage and the presence of ECE were significantly associated with a poorer OS. Conclusion: Locoregional failure remains the main cause of treatment failure in resectable OTSCC. There is scope to further improve prognosis considering modest LRC and OS. Pathological T-stage, N-stage, and ECE are strong prognostic factors. Further research is required to confirm whether adjuvant therapy adds to treatment outcomes in cases with lymphovascular invasion, perineural invasion, and depth of invasion, and help clinicians tailoring adjuvant therapy.

Surgical excision along with use of postoperative radiotherapy forms an integral management of sinonasal teratocarcinosarcoma (SNTCS). However, given the rarity of the tumor, no standardised guidelines, dose, technique and target delineation exist especially in the era of modern radiation delivery techniques. This is a case of 55-year-old male diagnosed as SNTCS treated with radical ethmoidectomy followed by volumetric modulated radiotherapy, showing good local control and acceptable toxicity profile.

Natural products, especially plants and herbs, have always been a common medicament source, either as pure active principles or traditional preparations. Traditional medicine has been used in developing and developed countries for centuries, and still, 80% of the population uses plant-based medicines for their health care needs. The present review discusses all the possible pharmacological activity reported in various literature and active chemical constituents of herbs. A list of various herbs/plants used by Ayurvedacharya Ratiram Sharma (93-year-old and practicing since 1952) and mentioned in Ayurvedic texts. The curated list was prepared by their general availability in the household and local market. This study comprehensively documented the medicinal value of sixty-six dominant plant species used in Ayurveda and local people. In the present review, each herb is discussed with its scientifc and common names, geographical distribution, traditional medicinal uses, benefcial plant parts, and active chemical constituents. For each plant, pharmacological activities of diferent parts of plants are displayed with their chemical constituents and structure. Toxicologists, phytologists, medicinal chemists, and other researchers who are interested in the various therapeutic and related applications of plant materials will be benefted from present review. This information will open new horizons of application for the many novel drugs and drug candidates.
