SOME MAJORIZATION PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH p-VALENTLY STARLIKE AND CONVEX FUNCTIONS OF COMPLEX ORDER
Altintas, Osman,Srivastava, H.M. The Youngnam Mathematical Society Korea 2001 East Asian mathematical journal Vol.17 No.2
The main object of this paper is to investigate several majorization problems involving two subclasses $S_{p,q}(\gamma)$ and $C_{p,q}(\gamma)$ of p-valently starlike and p-valently convex functions of complex order ${\gamma}{\neq}0$ in the open unit disk $\mathbb{u}$. Relevant connections of the results presented here with those given by earlier workers on the subject are also indicated.
A Novel Single Phase Soft Switched PFC Converter
Altintas, Nihan The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2014 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.9 No.5
In this study, a novel single phase soft switched power factor correction (PFC) converter is developed with active snubber cell. The active snubber cell provides boost switch both to turn on with zero voltage transition (ZVT) and to turn off with zero current transition (ZCT). As the switching losses in the proposed converter are too low, L and C size can be reduced by increasing the operating frequency. Also, all the semiconductor devices operate with soft switching. There is no additional voltage stress in the boost switch and diode. The proposed converter has a simple structure, low cost and ease of control as well. It has a simple control loop to achieve near unity power factor with the aid of the UC3854. In this study, detailed steady state analysis of the proposed converter is presented and this theoretical analysis is verified by a prototype of 100 kHz and 500 W converter. The measured power factor and efficiency are 0.99 and 97.9% at full load.

PURPOSE. The aim of the present study was to investigate the passive fit of metal substructure after repetitive firing processes in implant-supposed prosthesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Five implants (4 mm diameter and 10 mm length) were placed into the resin-based mandibular model and 1-piece of screw-retained metal substructure was produced with the direct metal laser sintering (DMSL) method using Co-Cr compound (n = 10). The distance between the marked points on the multiunit supports and the marginal end of the substructure was measured using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) at each stage (metal, opaque, dentin, and glaze). 15 measurements were taken from each prosthesis, and 150 measurements from 10 samples were obtained. In total, 600 measurements were carried out at 4 stages. One-way ANOVA test was used for statistical evaluation of the data. RESULTS. When the obtained marginal range values were examined, differences between groups were found to be statistically significant (P<.001). The lowest values were found in the metal stage (172.4 ± 76.5 ㎛) and the highest values (238.03 ± 118.92 ㎛) were determined after glaze application. When the interval values for groups are compared with pairs, the differences between metal with dentin, metal with glaze, opaque with dentin, opaque with glaze, and dentin with glaze were found to be significant (P<.05), whereas the difference between opaque with metal was found to be insignificant (P=.992). CONCLUSION. Passive fit of 1-piece designed implant-retained fixed prosthesis that is supported by multiple implants is negatively affected by repetitive firing processes.
ON SUBCLASSES OF UNIVALENT FUNCTIONS WITH NEGATIVE COEFFICIENTS
Altintas, Osman,Owa, Shigeyoshi The Youngnam Mathematical Society Korea 1988 East Asian mathematical journal Vol.4 No.-
In this work we obtain inequalities for coefficients related to functions belonging to two subclasses of univalent functions with negative coefficients, bounds for the modulus of these functions and their derivatives, and the extreme points of these classes. We also show an application of functions belonging to these classes to the fractional calculus.
Acute Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding Due to Metastatic Lung Cancer: An Unusual Case
Engin Altintas,Orhan Sezgin,Bulent Uyar,Ayse Polat 연세대학교의과대학 2006 Yonsei medical journal Vol.47 No.2
There have been several published reports on metastatic lesions in the stomach, but the number of cases have been limited due to the low frequency of the condition. Metastatic lesions in the stomach are usually asymptomatic. A 55-year- old man with known metastatic lung adenocancer exhibited epigastric pain, hematemesis, and melena. A bleeding, ulcerated gastric metastasis was found and treated with endoscopic therapy and omeprazole.

Insulin/insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1 signaling (IIS) pathway regulates aging in many organisms, ranging from simple invertebrates to mammals, including humans. Many seminal discoveries regarding the roles of IIS in aging and longevity have been made by using the roundworm Caenorhabditis elegans and the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. In this review, we describe the mechanisms by which various IIS components regulate aging in C. elegans and D. melanogaster. We also cover systemic and tissue-specific effects of the IIS components on the regulation of lifespan. We further discuss IIS-mediated physiological processes other than aging and their effects on human disease models focusing on C. elegans studies. As both C. elegans and D. melanogaster have been essential for key findings regarding the effects of IIS on organismal aging in general, these invertebrate models will continue to serve as workhorses to help our understanding of mammalian aging. Background: The purpose of this study was to examine the clinical and radiological results of the all-arthroscopic, suture-button fixation technique to treat acute acromioclavicular (AC) joint separations. Methods: All patients with acute AC joint separations received all-arthroscopic, single suture-button (TightRope) procedure without a special guide. Postoperative Constant score (CS), pain level according to visual analogue scale, and range of motion (ROM) were evaluated. For radiological evaluation, coracoclavicular distances were measured bilaterally. Results: Between December 2010 and June 2012, 18 consecutive patients (4 women and 14 men; mean age, 29.3 years) with acute AC joint separations underwent surgical treatment after 6.4 days (range, 2–20 days) following the initial trauma. The average postoperative follow-up was 16.9 months. The mean CS was 92.4 (range, 84–96). The mean external rotation, forward flexion, and abduction were 75.8° (range, 50°–90°), 170° (range, 150°–180°), and 163.8° (range, 140°–180°), respectively. Five patients exhibited coracoclavicular ossifications. In two patients, superficial wound infections were successfully treated with antibiotic therapy. In one patient, a coracoid fracture was observed. No significant differences were found regarding pain, ROM, or strength parameters between both sides. The coracoclavicular distance was discovered to be approximately 2.8 mm greater on the affected side; however, this minimal reduction loss did not affect the functional results. Conclusions: The findings of this study suggests that all-arthroscopic treatment of AC joint separations using the single suture-button technique without a drill guide is safe, yielding good to excellent clinical results.
