Nano-technology is a super microscopic technology to deal with structures of 100 nm or smaller. This technology also involves the developing of $TiO_2$ materials or $TiO_2$ devices within that size. The aim of the present paper is to synthesize $WO_x$ doped nano-$TiO_2$ by the Sonochemistry method and to evaluate the effect of different percentages (0.5-5 wt%) of tungsten oxide load on $TiO_2$ in methylene blue (MB) elimination. The samples were characterized using such different techniques as X-ray diffraction (XRD), TEM, SEM, and UV-VIS absorption spectra. The photo-catalytic activity of tungsten oxide doped $TiO_2$ was evaluated through the elimination of methylene blue using UV-irradiation (315-400nm). The best result was found with 5 wt% $WO_x$ doped $TiO_2$. It has been confirmed that $WO_x-TiO_2$ could be excited by visible light (E<3.2 eV) and that the recombination rate of electrons/holes in $WO_x-TiO_2$ declined due to the existence of $WO_x$ doped in $TiO_2$.

Recently a new process known as the magnetic fluid grinding has been developed, which can remove material from the surface of ceramic balls by fifty to one hundred times more rapidly than the conventional lapping process. In this study, the ceramic balls with various compositions are made and ground by using the magnetic fluid grinding technique with various machining parameters. In order to make well-round shaped balls by using the magnetic fluid grinding technique, the fundamental research to find out the machining factors has been carried out. Developing an equipment with higher efficiency and reliability in the machining could certainly lead to the higher productivity with excellent quality of ceramic balls.
Photocatalytic Properties of TiO₂ Coatings Prepared by Cold Spray Process

Four different coatings deposited using cold spray process were studied with two different powder agglomerating techniques (spray dry and evaporated powder) and using TiO₂ nano-sized powders with and without a l0wt% addition of ZnO. Characterization was performed by SEM, XRD and roughness test. Also the photocatalytic effect of the coatings was evaluated. Although the change of powder preparation techniques and the addition of ZnO into TiO₂ did not show appreciable variations in the surface morphology and Anatase phase transformation, it did show influence on the surface roughness of the coatings, the highest roughness being found in the coatings made by spray powder prepared method. Regarding the photocatalytic effect it was observed that the using of spray dry coating and the addition of ZnO are promoters of purification at higher rates.
음식물쓰레기를 이용한 식생기반재료의 퇴비화 효과에 관한 연구

염분농도에 따른 발아특성은 쪽제비싸리, Perennial ryegrass의 경우 0.4% 이상 NaCl 농도에서 발아율과 유아 및 유근 길이가 급격히 감소하였으며, Creeping red fescue는 0.2% 이상 NaCl 농도에서 매우 급격한 생육저하가 일어났다. 외래초종의 초장 분석결과 Mixture III> Mixture IV> Mixture II> Mixture I의 순이었고, 재래 초·목본의 경우는 외래초종의 초장이 길수록 길이가 짧아지는 경향을 나타냈으며, Mixture I> Mixture II> Mixture IV> Mixture III의 순이었다.

본 연구에서는 폐유리를 별도의 전처리 과정 없이 최적조건에서 발포된 발포유리의 pH, 밀도, 열전도율, 압축강도 그리고 흡음율을 측정하였다. 최적조건에서의 온도변화에 따른 물성특성을 측정한 결과, 온도가 높아짐에 따라 밀도는 감소하였는데 이는 융용상 형성이 증가하고 표면에 형성된 융용상의 발포된 기체를 내부에 포집하여 큰 기공을 형성하여 밀도가 감소하는 것으로 사료된다. 또한 온도가 높아짐에 따라 pore size가 커지고, 압축강도가 감소하는 경향을 보인다.
