The bone resorbing activity of $PGE_2$ and elevated level of prostaglandins(PGs) and thromboxanes (TXs) in inflamed gingiva which are cyclooxygenase(C) metabolites have been well documented. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) have been known to suppress gingival inflammation and bone resorption through the specific inhibitory action on the C pathway thereby decrease of various C metabolites. Recent studies provide unequivocal results that gingival tissue metabolizes arachidonic acid(AA) mainly through lipoxygenase(L) pathway. And the results of our previous experiments suggest that indomethacin may have inhibitory action on L as well as C. Thus we started this study to show the influences of several C inhibitors on the L activity at therapeutic and toxic dosage. Periodontal tissue samples were obtained from patients with advanced periodontitis and incubated with $^{14}C-AA(0.2{\mu}Ci)$ and various enzyme inhibitors. The tissue lipid extracts were separated by means of thin layer chromatography(TLC) and analyzed by means of autoradiography and TLC analyzer. Our results showed that aspirin inhibited C more selectively than L, however at higher concentration it also decreased HETEs production significantly. Indomethacin showed dose-dependent inhibition of L as well as C and all of the L metabolites were decreased to the same degree by high concentration of indomethacin. AA-861, which is an experimental tool of selective L inhibitor, showed inhibition of HETEs production but no effect on the production of $TXB_2$, PGs and $LTB_4$. Various propionic acid derivatives NSAIDs(ibuprofen, flurbiprofen, naproxen) showed the same patterns of effect on AA metabolism each other that was profound inhibition of PGs production, to the less degree HETEs and $TXB_2$ production, and of no effect on the $LTB_4$ production.
백화사설초 메탄올 추출물에 의한 HL-60 세포(細胞) 고사과정(枯死過程)에서의 cell cycle 관련인자(關聯因子)의 활성변화(活性變化) 연구(硏究)

Objectives: Hedyotis diffusa is used to treat cancer in traditional Korea Medicine. So this study was carried out to examine the expression of cell cycle related genes in HL-60 cells undergoing apoptosis by the methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa. Methods: 1. HL-60 cells were treated with various concentrations (from 200 to $50{\mu}g/ml$)of methanol extract and H20 extract ($200{\mu}g/ml$) of hedyotis diffusa. After 48 h later, the cells were tested for viability by MTT assay. 2. The HL-60 cells were treated with $200{\mu}g/ml$ of methanol extract for the indicated periods. The whole cell lysates were prepared and analyzed by western blotting using anti-p53 antibody. 3. The nuclear extract were prepared and analyzed by western blotting using anti-p21 antibody, anti-p27 antibody, anti-cyclin A antibody, anti-cyclin E antibody and anti-CDK2 antibody. Results: 1. The methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa induced the death of HL-60 cells in a dose dependent manner. 2. The methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa makedly decreased the level of p21/Cipl and cyclin A in a time dependent manner. 3. The methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa markedly increased the level of p27/Kipl and cyclin E in a time dependent manner. 4. The methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa markedly did not affect the level of CDK2. Conclusions: These results provide evidence that expression of cell cycle related genes in HL-60 cells undergoing apoptosis by the methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa mainly results from decreased level of p21/Cipl and increased level of p27/Kipl of the cell cycle related genes.
멜라민과 cyanuric acid의 농도별 혼합투여에 따른 메기(Silurus asotus) 신장에서의 조직병리학적 소견

The recent outbreak of renal failure in infants in China and in animals in USA and Europe has been determined to be caused by melamine adulterated in the food. In the course of the investigation, cyanuric acid was identified in addition to melamine in the offending food. Fish feeds were also recently found to be contaminated with melamine. The purpose of this study was to characterize the histopathological effect and toxicity potential of different concentrations of melamine and cyanuric acid in the kidney of Japanese catfish (Silurus asotus). The fish were administered melamine and cyanuric acid in combination at the concentrations of 12.5, 25, 50, 100 and 200mg/kg/day for 3 days by single oral administration dissolved in carboxymethyl cellulose. The results showed that renal crystals were observed in renal tubules and collecting ducts at the concentration over 25mg/kg dose group and the number of crystals in kidney were in proportion to the concentrations of melamine and cyanuric acid.

This study suggests the method for optimal indoor lighting design of hospital using daylighting and artificial lighting. In aspect of eco-environment, for the original and practical indoor lighting design in hospital, it finds problems through spatial analysis for the users of hospital and estimation to wall color, illumination, luminance, color rendering and color temperature. And it presents solution of indoor lighting according to character of hospital after researching cases of the indoor lighting in existing hospital.
다무라 류이치(田村隆一) 시에 나타난 심리적 거리 연구 - 인지 주체의 시선 방향을 중심으로 -

本稿は田村隆一の詩を認知意味論的な方法で試したものである。特に戦後に発表された作品である『四千の日と夜」を始め、『言葉のない世界』、『緑の思想』、『死語』にある詩を中心に分析した。詩的話者を認知主体に変えて「me-first-principle」と「ego-centric principle」また心を走査(scanning)するという認知意味論的な原理を適用してみた。その結果、認知主体の視線の方向によって対象との心理的な距離の様相が変わったことが分かった。まず「外部への視線」の場合は対象と心理的な距離が遠い。これを暗い時代の状況から離れている詩人の心の距離を比喩したものとみた。また、その時、認知主体の視線の先にあった「影」と「誰かの幻」は詩人の生と死に対する絶え間ない渇きを表していることとみた。続いて、「対象と共に動く視線」の場合はまず、認知主体が自分の体を見ることから始まる。そこて認知主体が自分の内面の方に視線を向いた時、「生命の響きとリズム」また「色彩のない夢」というものを発見した。そしてこの時、認知主体と対象との心理的な距離はほぼゼロに近い状態になっているのを確認した。こうようなことから詩人の詩とまた人生に対する態度を確認することができたと言える。 In this paper, I would like to approach Tamura Ryuichi’s primitive theory (or idea) through the me-first principle (or ego-centric principle) and by scanning which parts are cognitive semantic. I could see these principles in some of his poems -- Four Thousand Days Nights, The World Without Words, A Green Thought and Dead Language. The poems help us to see his view, which the cognitive subject uses to figure out the object. In chapter 1, I found out that “shadow” and “someone’s illusions” are proof of existence through an outside view of rolling hills. Tamura didn’t receive any direct disadvantages from the war, but his emotions led him to express the motion of objects through physiological distancing. He expressed his complicated feelings by using shadows and illusions, which are comparable to his feelings and attitude with this dark situation. In chapter 2, we could find some key words, which are the echoes and rhythms of life and his dream of achromatic colors found through the movement of objects. Compared to chapter 1, the movement of objects became more narrow (close to a zero condition), because the objects are moving together. The author’s perspective portrayed in his poems, and his attitude of the life, vividly reflect through the differences of psychological distance.

The balcony area is an unconditioned zone of which window configuration makes significant impact on the annual heating and cooling load. Although there are design guide lines and building regulations associated with the thermal and optical criteria of the external surfaces of residential buildings, they are not sufficient in determining the balcony configuration to achieve better energy performance since design determinants such as U values, G values and window-to-wall area ratios can be interactively compromised. It is more effective to identify the best combination of the design determinants through holistic approaches. One of major holistic approaches is to use integrated simulation techniques which require substantial effort and time resources. In this study, a simplified model is suggested to identify the impact of design determinants of the balcony glazing configuration. The model is developed on the basis of detailed simulation results and statistical analysis (i.e. multi regression model). It is expected that the proposed model will allow designers to determine the balcony configuration at early design stage without using detailed simulation tools.
