        In this paper, we present conceptual design of an integrated BOM that is hierarchical in nature with the top level representing the finished product, ship. The ship may be complete or may still be under assembly or design stage. The communication network between supply agencies, manufacturing firms/partners or confined information management for a single manufacturing shipyard plant for integrated BOM is designed using internet enabled technologies and LAN/WAN. The proposed integrated BOM is hierarchical in nature and in the sub-assembly processes modular structure of BOM is utilized. The integrated BOM is used as a data base to identify the various parts and their related materials. In the integrated BOM two operations are designed: the ‘inclusion’ operation links component pieces to a major assembly, while an ‘exclusion’ operation breaks apart each assembly or subassembly into its component parts; and these two processes ensures forward and backward computations. The integrated BOM is displayed at multiple levels, and it is modularly indented. Finally, in our implementation we show the concept of integrated bill of materials (BOM) for shipbuilding industries, the performance of PLM system can be improved and the ship design and production processes can become more streamlined, better planned and executed.
