Korean government, port and logistics companies have given a lot of their efforts to exchange electronic documents between themselves and their partners. As the results of them, Korean EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) standards were made by Korean EDIFACT committee and the standards have been used by companies and governmental organizations in Korea. However, Korean port and logistics EDI system is based on VAN(Value Added Network) and one VAN company has monopolistic right to relay EDI documents to Korean MOMAF(Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Fisheries) and Customs Service. Therefore it leads to a lot of problems such as inconvenient software, expensive transmission fee, insufficient improvement of business process and the difficulty of connection with the in-house systems of user companies. For solving these problems, this study is aimed to progress for XML and XML-based electronic commerce framework. This paper shows a optimal XML/EDI method using XML/EDI, BizTalk Framework, ebXML Framework. For improving extant problems in port and logistics industry, this paper proposed XML/EDI system based on system architectural level, support technical level, business infrastructure level.

This paper dealt with melting characteristics of low-voltage miniature cartridge fuse used for 220 V electronic equipment. The experimental sample is low-voltage miniature cartridge fuse with rating of 250 V(3A) and size of 5x20 mm. In order to evaluate melting and scattering characteristics of the fuse, we applied to 8/20 us surge current, overload current and external thermal stress such as flame of fire. From the experimental results, the fuse element was melted and scattered by applied surge current(above 0.79 kA) end overload current(above 4.5 A). It was also attached to the inner surface of the fuse tube. The fuse element was attached as a thin film on inner sur-¬face or fuse tube when large surge current was applied. It was confirmed, however, the fuse element was not changed by external thermal stress such as flame and hot-air.

Since 1996, the document exchange method by EDI has been introduced in port and logistics industries in Korea to enhance the declaration activities to the Pusan Port Authority and Customs. In spite of these efforts, users such as shipping companies, shipping agents, and freight forwarders have complained the inconvenience of using EDI systems. The major reasons can be summarized as follows: repetitional EDI transfer, too much transfer time, inconvenient EDI software, and problems on message receiving confirmation Furthermore, EDI has been used only for transmitting messages. To solve these problems, this study has adopted the integration system by applying the concept of SCM to logistics system by XML/EDI. In the view of SCM, the existing EDI has some problems because its role is only to transmit the messages. This paper is to suggest how current EDI systems in port and logistics sector has to be changed by introducing SCM. The integration system gives us such advantages as accuracy of cargo data, integration of processes among firms, and keeping the trace of cargo.

항만 물류 관련 업무처리의 효율화를 위해 EDI가 도입되어 활용되고 있으나 많은 문제점들이 야기되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 EDI 활용실태를 실중적으로 조사하여 그 원인을 정확하게 분석함으로써 개선방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 조사결과 나타난 문제점들중 중요한 내용을 살펴보면, 무역망과 물류망의 분리 운영, 항만 물류 관련 기관들 사이의 데이터베이스의 독립적 운영, 사용자시스템상의 문제 등이다. 이중에서도 사용자들에게 많은 부담을 주고있는 부분이 PORT-MIS EDI 사용자시스템인 것으로 판단되어 이에 대한 구체적 수준의 문제점 분석과 개선방안을 도출하여 제시하였다.
