Cu doped $SnO_2$ thick films for gas sensors were fabricated by screen printing method on alumina substrates and annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ in air, respectively. Structural properties of $SnO_2$ by X-ray diffraction showed (110), (101) and (211) dominant tetragonal phase. The effects of catalyst Cu in $SnO_2$-based gas sensors were investigated. Sensitivity of $SnO_2$:Cu sensors to 2,000 ppm $CO_2$ gas and 50 ppm $H_2S$ gas was investigated for various Cu concentration. The highest sensitivity to $CO_2$ gas and $H_2S$ gas of Cu doped $SnO_2$ gas sensors was observed at the 8 wt% and 12 wt% Cu concentration, respectively. The improved sensitivity in the Cu doped $SnO_2$ gas sensors was explained by decrease of electron depletion region in Cu and $SnO_2$ junction, and increase of reactive oxygen and surface area in the $SnO_2$.

CuO doped $WO_3-SnO_2$ thick film gas sensors were fabricated by screen printing method on alumina substrates and heat-treated at $350^{\circ}C$ in air. The effects of mixing ratio of $WO_3$ with $SnO_2$ on the structural and morphological properties of $WO_3-SnO_2$ were investigated X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscope. The structural properties of the $WO_3-SnO_2$:CuO thick film by XRD showed that the monoclinic of $WO_3$ and the tetragonal of $SnO_2$ phase were mixed. Nano CuO was coated on the $WO_3-SnO_2$ surface and then the surface of $WO_3$ was coated with $SnO_2$ particles with $1\sim1.5{\mu}m$ in diameters, as confirmed form the SEM image. The sensitivity of the $WO_3-SnO_2$:CuO sensor to 2000 ppm $CO_2$ gas and 50 ppm $H_2S$ gas for the various ratio of $WO_3$ and $SnO_2$ was investigated. The 4 wt% CuO doped $WO_3-SnO_2$(75:25) tkick films showed the highest sensitivity to $CO_2$ gas and $H_2S$ gas.

In the dye-sensitized solar cell, the semiconductor oxide plays an important role in the generation and transport of electrons, and thus extensive research on this has been continuously carried out. In this study, the characteristics of dye-sensitized solar cell are studied by fabricating semiconductor oxide doped with $V_2O_5$. The $TiO_2$ paste with $V_2O_5$ is prepared by the screen printing method of the sol - gel process and the surface and electrical properties are measured. The addition of $V_2O_5$ increased grain size and improved the open circuit voltage, short circuit current, charge factor and conversion efficiency of the dye sensitized solar cell. 염료감응형 태양전지에서 반도체 산화물은 전자의 생성과 이동에 중요한 역할을 하므로 이에 관한 광범위한 연구가 지속적으로 수행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 $V_2O_5$를 첨가시킨 반도체 산화물을 제작하여 염료 감응 태양 전지의 특성을 연구하였다. $V_2O_5$가 첨가된 $TiO_2$ 페이스트는 졸 겔 공정의 스크린 인쇄 법으로 제조하였고, 이에 따른 표면특성 및 전기적 특성을 측정하였다. $V_2O_5$가 첨가됨에 따라 결정립 크기가 증가하였고 염료감응태양전지의 개방 회로 전압, 단락 전류, 충전 계수 및 변환 효율 특성이 개선됨을 확인할 수 있었다.
Fe가 첨가된 MgO 보호막의 표면특성 개선에 관한 연구

플라즈마 디스플레이 패널(Plasma Display Panel : PDP)이 다른 평판 디스플레이 분야(Liquid Crystal Displays(LCDs) and organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs) 등)와 경쟁에서 이기기 위해서는 제품의 고화질화, 저소비전력와 고속구동 등의 성능향상이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 PDP의 성능향상을 위하여 유전체 보호층으로 쓰이는 MgO 박막에 Fe를 미량 첨가한 박막을 증착하고, 그 특성에 대하여 연구하였다. e-beam 증착법으로 증착된 Fe 도핑 된 MgO 박막의 표면특성과 전기광학적 특성을 4인치 테스트 패널을 제작하여 연구하였다. Fe가 도핑된 MgO 박막을 가지는 PDP는 Fe가 도핑되지 않은 PDP에 비해 낮은 방전전압 특성을 나타내었으며, 이는 박막에서 측정된 2차전자방출계수의 실험결과와 잘 일치되었다. 증착된 박막의 결정성과 표면 거칠기는 XRD 와 AFM 측정방법을 통하여 결정되었다. 또한, Fe가 도핑된 PDP는 고속구동을 위한 향상된 어드레스 방전 늦음의 특성을 나타내었다. In order to compete with other flat display devices such as Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) and organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), Plasma Display Panels (PDPs) require to have high performances like high image quality, low power consumption and high speed driving. In this paper, Fe doped MgO protective layer was introduced for higher performance. Both the surface characteristics of the deposited thin films and the electro-optical properties of 4 inch test panels were investigated. It has been demonstrated experimentally that ac PDP with Fe doped MgO protective layer has lower discharge voltage than that of undoped MgO film, which corresponds to measured secondary electron emission coefficients. The crystallinity and surface roughness of thin films were determined by XRD patterns and AFM images. In addition, ac PDP with Fe doped MgO protective layer has improved address discharge time lag for high speed driving.
셀 면적 및 흡착시간에 따른 염료감응형 태양전지 특성에 관한 연구

In this paper, it is investigated the characteristics of DSSC(Dye Sensitized Solar Cell) with cell area(0.25, 1, 2.25 cm2) and dye absorption time(12, 24, 36 h). Thus, we obtain the following results by using the EIS, UV-VIS, I-V measurement. When the cell area increases, the efficiency decreases to 21∼32 percent because of the increase about 40∼60 Ω of internal impedance regardless of dye absorption time. When the absorption time increases up to 24 hours, the efficiency increases to over 40 percent cause of the reduction of internal impedance regardless of cell area. When the dye absorption time becomes 36 hours, the internal impedance increases and at the same time, in the range of 600∼700 nm, as the optical absorption reduces. Therefore, the efficiency decreases to 19∼31 percent. When it is absorbed the dye for 24 hours in the smallest cell area which is 0.25 cm<sub>2</sub>, the DSSC has the best efficiency (7.11 %).

Electron-beam Evaporation의 증착 방법에 따른 MgO Layer의 표면 특성에 관한 연구

A MgO layer is used as electrode protective film in the alternating current plasma display panel (AC PDP). The properties of MgO layer are thought to be one of the most important factors that affects the panel reliability through the firing voltage variation. In this study, we investigated the relations between the surface characteristics and e-beam evaporation process parameters such as deposition rate, temperature of substrate and distance between the MgO pellet and substrate. To produce the MgO layer of (200) crystal orientation, we suggest the high temperature of the substrate, the long distance between the pellet and substrate and the high deposition rate.
