Since 1999 Korea NCAP(New Car Assessment Program) has been crash testing vehicles and publishing results to provide new vehicle consumers, when making a purchasing decision, independent advise on occupant protection. During the life of the NCAP program there have been significant improvements in the occupant safety performance of vehicles. In Korea NCAP 56kph crash test the deceleration pulse is very important factor for occupant safely. Firstly an analysis of crash test data of small proto type vehicle, known changes to vehicle specification, is undertaken to review the effect in deceleration pulse. And in this study we will consider about influence of engine, transmission and structural strength.

To reduce deaths and injuries that occur in accidents involving pedestrians, all new types of motor vehicle for European market from 1 October 2005 have to fulfill the legal requirement which limit the values of lower legform injury and child head form injury. To satisfy the proposed pedestrian requirements, the design for pedestrian protection scheme should be considered from the early stage of vehicle development. However, it is not easy to build full vehicle finite element model in early stage of vehicle development, especially in styling phase, because the geometry data for finite element model are not sufficient in this stage. The project has been undertaken to propose the design guidelines on the front structures of the vehicle. The process was carried out in conjunction with MADYMO Multi-body modeling and Design of Experiments (DOE) study.
