Permanent magnets have recently been considered as device that can be used to control the behavior of mechanical systems. Neodymium magnets, a type of permanent magnet, have been used in numerous mechanical devices. These are permanent magnets made from an alloy of neodymium, iron, and boron to form the Nd2Fe14B tetragonal crystalline structure. The magnetic selection, magnet core design and mechanical errors of the magnetic component can affect the performance of the magnetic force. In this study, the coercive force, residual induction, and the dimensions of the design parameters of the magnet core are optimized. The design parameters of magnet core are defined as the gap between the magnet and the core, the upper contact radius, and the lower thickness of the core. The force exercised on a permanent magnet in a non-uniform field is dependent on the magnetization orientation of the magnet. Non-uniformity of the polarization direction of the magnetic has been assumed to be caused by the angular error in the polarization direction. The variation in the magnetic performance is considered according to the center distance, the tilt of the magnetic components, and the polarization direction. The finite element method is used to analyze the magnetic force of an optimized cylindrical magnet.

The dynamic instability and natural frequency of axially moving beam with an attached mass are investigated. Thus, the effects of an attached mass on the stability of the moving beam are studied. The governing equation of motion of the moving beam with an attached mass is derived from the extended Hamilton"s principle. The natural frequencies are investigated for the moving beams via the Galerkin method under the simple support boundary. Numerical examples show the effects of the attached mass and moving speed on the stability of moving beam. Moreover, the lowest critical moving speeds for the simple supported conditions have been presented. The results can be used in the analysis of axially moving beams with an attached mass for checking the stability.

Yoke is a part of rotor in unmanned helicopter. It was transferred power of engine to the rotor. It has been usually produced by machining and used wastefully material. And it has been considered to improve its proof stress against repeated loading of the products. Therefore we studied Forging process for satisfaction of these ability and process design for yoke forming has been studied by using FE analysis. Die design and forming analysis have been performed according to the conditions such as billet volume, flash control, cavity filling, and the distribution of damage in the products. In the comparison between die forging processes, side punch effects has been investigated by considering billet dimensions.

The dynamic instability and natural frequency of elastically restrained pipe conveying fluid with the attached mass and crack are investigated. The pipe system with a crack is modeled by using extended Hamilton’s Principle with consideration of bending energy. The crack on the pipe system is represented by a local flexibility matrix and two undamaged beam segments are connected. In this paper, the influence of attached mass, its position and crack on the dynamic stability of a elastically restrained pipe system is presented. Also, the critical flow velocity for the flutter and divergence due to the variation in the position and stiffness of supported spring is studied. Finally, the critical flow velocities and stability maps of the pipe conveying fluid with the attached mass are obtained by the changing parameters.

In this study, the optimal support span determination of pipeline system was carried out in consideration of the effects of seismic loads. The theoretical support and structural analysis were used to determine the optimal support span of piping system according to pipe diameter using theoretical and structural deflection criteria. The reliability of the analysis results was secured by comparing the structural and theoretical results. In particular, the optimum support span of piping system was obtained by considering the effects of seismic load, and the optimal support span of pipe diameter and piping system tended to be proportional to each other. When considering the effects of earthquakes on different pipe diameters(300∼ 2,500mm), the span length is reduced by up to 48% at the allowable stress criterion, and the pipe span length is reduced by up to 5.9% at the deflection criterion. It can be seen that the effect of the seismic load on the determination of the piping span length has a greater effect on the stress than the displacement.
