Bovine cerebral mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) isozymes were partially purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation, DEAF-Sephacel, Sephacryl S-300, 5`-AMP Sepharose 4B chromatography. They are membrane bound ALDH, soluble high K_m ALDH and low K_m, ALDH. Molecular weights of the native membrane bound ALDH and the soluble high K_m ALDH were 250,000 dalton and 230,000 dalton, respectively and both were found to consist of homologous tetramer by SDS-PAGE analysis and their pI values were 6.52 and 6.22, respectively. The K_m, values for aliphatic aldehydes and aromatic biogenic aldehydes of the membrane bound ALDH were 10^(-3) M level and 10^(-4) M level, respectively and those of the soluble high K_m ALDH were 10^(-4) M level for both aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes. However those of the soluble low K_m ALDH for both aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes were 10^(-6) M level. These results suggest that the mitochondrial membrane bound ALDH may act as barrier when the aldehyde concentration in cytosol is high but when the soluble ALDH, particularly low K_m ALDH may oxidize aldehydes that appeared in mitochondria when the concentration of aldehyde in cytosol was extremely low. It was also found that the membrane ALDH was glycoprotein and NAD^+ dependent while the soluble high K_m ALDH can use either NAD^+ or NADP^+ as a cofactor.

급성 호산구폐렴은 호산구의 폐 침윤에 의해 발생하는 질환이지만 원인과 기전은 아직 명확하지 않다. 직접적인 인과관계가 밝혀져 있지 않지만 흡연도 급성, 구폐렴의 한 원인으로 보고되고 있다. 직접흡연에 의해 발생한 급성 호산구폐렴에 대해 여러 보고가 있었으나 간접흡연자에게 발생한 예는 아직 없었다. 저자들은 병력 청취와 소변 코티닌 측정으로 확인 된 간접흡연에 의한 것으로 추정되는 급성 호산구폐렴 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. Acute eosinophilic pneumonia (AEP) is characterized by eosinophilic infiltration in the lungs, respiratory distress, a rapid therapeutic response to corticosteroids, and the absence of relapse. Some cases of AEP are caused by infections, drugs, and inhaled antigens. Cigarette smoking is considered a probable cause of AEP, as AEP has developed soon after starting to smoke in some patients and a challenge with cigarette smoking was positive in some patients. All reported patients with cigarette smoking-induced AEP were active smokers, while no case of AEP caused by passive smoking has been reported. We present a case of AEP presumed to have been caused by passive cigarette smoking. (Korean J Med 77:508-511, 2009)

Absorption pattern of solid sulfur through rat intestine using reversed small and large intestinal preparations was investigated and found that no solid sulfur could be absorbed. However, when colonic materials and solid sulfur were added to Erlenmeyer flask containing nutrient broth and incubated, sulfides (H₂S, CH₃SH etc.) were detected in both gaseous phase and medium fraction. We also realized that the H₂S absorbed by colon was partly converted to CH₃SH. Analysis of ^(35)S in the liver after oral administration of solid sulfur containing ^(35)S showed that 19.7% was in the form of SO₄^(2-) and 13.2% was as proteins. Radio-activity distribution of ^(35)S into liver, blood, urine and feces at 24 h after the ^(35)S administration was 0.26%, 0.1%, 41.96%, and 7.4% respectively suggesting that relatively large amounts of sulfur were absorbed but quickly metabolized and excreted in the urine.
A Diffusion-based Model Theory of Passive-Targeted Drug Delivery in Solid Tumors

A model theory of passive-targeted drug delivery in sphere-shaped solid tumors is introduced on the basis of Fick's law of diffusion, with appropriate boundary and initial conditions. For a uniform initial concentration inside the tumor, the concentration is obtained as a function of time and radial position. The concentration is shown to approach the equilibrium distribution as the time elapses, as is expected by the Gedanken Experiment. The time-evolution rate is found to be determined by the diffusion coefficient of the drug in the tissue, the size of the tumor, the volume of the drug-injected region, and the concentration gradient at the boundary. 공모양의 단단한 종양안에서 수동조준된 약물의 전달에 관한 모델이론이 적절한 경계조건과 초기조건하에서 픽의 확산법칙으로부터 유도된다. 종양안의 농도는 초기값이 일정하면 시간과 지름의 함수로 나타난다. 생각실험(사고실험)으로부터 예측되는 바와 같이, 농도는 시간이 경과함에 따라 평형값에 접근한다. 시간에 따른 농도의 변화는 조직안의 약물의 확산계수, 종양의 크기, 주입된 약물의 양, 경계면에서의 농도의 물매(gradient)에 의해 결정된다.

This dissertation discuses about a ferrite core plasma source using low operating frequency without sputtering problem by the stored electric field. Compared with the conventional RF power system with 13.56MHz switching frequency, the proposed plasma power system is only separated at 400kHz, so that it makes possible to use of low cost switching elements, PWM control and soft switching. Moreover, it could improve the coupling efficiency for plasma and antenna by using the ferrite core in order to transfer the energy of the load. This dissertation tried to analyze new plasma generation method for the plasma generation system by modeling the plasma load and grafting the concept of impedance matching in order to interpret it with the formula. This dissertation verified the ferrite core inductive coupling plasma source authorized for 400kHz of low frequency power by applying to the semi-conductor ash process thru the measurement of ash capacity and uniformed plasma distribution on the actual wafer.

In this paper, the development of the LF power supply for dry scrubber is discussed. 1500kW, 100kHz LF power supply is designed and tested.<br/> The main power stage is used for the FB PWM inverter with an LC filter in the secondary circuit. The operation characteristics of LF power supply are verified by simulation and experimental results.

This paper deals with the active clamp ZVS flyback converter for semiconductor plasma<br/> etching system. The proposed converter has the characteristics of the good power facter, low swithcing noise and efficiency improvement. The characteristics are verified through simulation results. Furthermore, the ringing effect due to output capacitance of the main switch can be eliminated by use of active clamp circuit.
