        Two-Stage Decision Tree Analysis for Diagnosis of Personal Sasang Constitution Medicine Type

        1. Objectives: In SCM, a personal Sasang constitution must be determined accurately before any Sasang treatment. The purpose of this study is to develop an objective method for classification of Sasang constitution. 2. Methods: We collected samples from 5 centers where SCM is practiced, and applied two-stage decision tree analysis on these samples. We recruited samples from 5 centers. The collected data were from subjects whose response to herbal medicine was confirmed according to Sasang constitution. 3. Results: The two-stage decision tree model shows higher classification power than a simple decision tree model. This study also suggests that gender must be considered in the first stage to improve the accuracy of classification. 4. Conclusions: We identified important factors for classifying Sasang constitutions through two-stage decision tree analysis. The two-stage decision tree model shows higher classification power than a simple decision tree model.

        체질처방 결정요인 확인을 위한 연구설계

        Objectives The purpose of this study is to design a research to find clinical factors involved in the decision-making process for determining the constitutional prescription based on prospective clinical data. Methods We have created a draft of the case report form. Therefore, seven constitutional experts was interviewed for additional items to be important used to determine the constitutional prescription in clinic. Interviews were done from December 2012 to March 2014, experts per person 2-3 times, took time of about 120 minutes per interview. Since then, we developed the final case report form through the expert meeting. At the same time, the developing the electronic case report form (eCRF) and the protocol to collect constitutional treatment cases was also discussed. Results & Conclusions The items of the case report form were subject general, lifestyle, health measurement, record of expert, prescription and evaluation after medication. The part of the clinical symptoms of the record of expert allowed to be recorded in the 5-point scale for the collection of quantitative data as much as possible. Assuming a re-visit of the patient, if necessary, twice the recording were to be possible. At the same time, the eCRF and the protocol to collect constitutional treatment cases were also developed. In this study, it will be able to more objectively standardize the medical decision making process that the experts of constitutional prescription decision. As a result, it will be possible to provide the standardized constitutional medical services.

        사상의학 병증진단에 있어서 사상의학 전문가의 한열 특성 및 건강상태 평가에 관한 일치도 연구

        Objectives In Sasang Constitutional medicine(SCM), it is an important factor to assess the degree of cold/heat and healthy status. We purposed to check the agreement among the experts on the assessment of cold/heat and healthy status. Methods Six SCM experts and 10 healthy volunteers were recruited for this study. The SCM experts had an interviewed with each volunteer in the similar condition like that of the actual clinic. And then the expert evaluated each volunteer's cold/heat and healthy status. Intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC) was used to measure the interrater reliability and interrater agreement among the experts. Results Two volunteers are excluded due to the missing data, therefore eight persons' data (3 males and 5 females) were included in our analysis. The mean of age and BMI are 21.73(${\pm}2.32$) and 29.63(${\pm}4.66$), respectively. In health status, cold status and heat status, the ICC was 0.789, 0.904, 0.925, respectively. Conclusions We found that the assessment of cold/heat and healthy status was continued reliable among SCM experts. The assessment of cold/heat status was more consistent than the assessment of healthy status.

        사상체질의학의 특허 동향 분석

        1. Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze for the patent application tendency in SCM(Sasang Constitutional Medicine). Recently, in SCM, many researches are made public through papers. However, in the patent area, the research results are less than the papers. 2. Methods : We collected patents about SCM using wintelips program. We analyzed patents according to the year, author, topic, and etc. 3. Results : We collected 151 patents using search system with wintelips program. After detailed analysis on SCM patent, we got to know that SCM was a growing field. In the collected patents, the patents on diagnosis technology were the majority and system of providing information were the second largest. 4. Conclusions : We think that the SCM field is growing at a fast pace with high activity, and this research should be updated annually.

        계층적 정렬쌍 가시화를 이용한 유전자 클러스터 탐색 알고리즘

        최근 생물정보학 분야의 연구는 하나하나의 유전자를 연구하던 예전의 방법에서 유전자들간의 관계를 알아보는 연구들로 변해가고 있다. 이러한 유전자들 간의 연구 중 하나가 유전자 팀(gene team)을 연구하는 것이다. 유전자 팀이란 몇몇 염색체들 사이의 유전자들이 보존되어 있는 것을 말하며, 닫힌 영역 안에 보존되어 있는 유전자들의 집합으로 볼 수 있다. 이들은 진화과정을 거치면서, 유전자 팀 내의 유전자들의 위치나 그 종류가 변한다. 이러한 유전자 팀을 찾기 위해 많은 연구들이 이루어져왔다. 본 논문은 생물정보학 분야에서 많이 사용되는 계층적 클러스터링(hierarchical clustering)방법을 변형하여 전체 유전체(whole genome) 쌍내에서의 의미 있는 영역을 찾고, 영역 내에서 gene team을 찾을 수 있는 방법을 소개한다. 본 연구 방법을 이용하면, 복잡한 구조의 두 유전체 사이의 연관 유전자들이나 유사 영역들의 맵(map)을 단계별로 간략화 하여 나타낼 수 있다. One of the main issues in comparative genomics is to study chromosomal gene order in one or more related species. For this purpose, the whole genome alignment is usually applied to find the horizontal gene transfer, gene duplication, and gene loss between two related genomes. Also it is well known that the novel visualization tool with whole genome alignment is greatly useful for us to understand genome organization and evolution process. There are a lot of algorithms and visualization tools already proposed to find the "gene clusters" on genome alignments. But due to the huge size of whole genome, the previous visualization tools are not convenient to discover the relationship between two genomes. In this paper, we propose AlignScope, a novel visualization system for whole genome alignment, especially useful to find gene clusters between two aligned genomes. This AlignScope not only provides the simplified structure of genome alignment at any simplified level, but also helps us to find gene clusters. In experiment, we show the performance of AlignScope with several microbial genomes such as B. subtilis, B.halodurans, E. coli K12, and M. tuberculosis H37Rv, which have more than 5000 alignment pairs (matched DNA subsequence).

        통합 체질진단 툴 β-version의 웹기반 응용프로그램

        1. Objectives : It is very important to classify people into Sasang constitution correctly in SCM. There have been many researches for this and several tools have been developed for diagnosis of Sasang constitution. In our study, we introduce a new web application for Integrated Sasang Constitutional Diagnosis (ISCD) ${\beta}$-version and algorithm on the base of face, body shape, voice and questionnaire. 2. Development : The web application of ISCD ${\beta}$-version was designed to be used easily for subject, staffs, and oriental medical doctors. For this purpose, we developed a web-application of Integrated Sasang Constitutional Diagnosis ${\beta}$-version using mysql database, tomcat web system, JSP, JAVA, and C++ languages. 3. Current State : The ISCD ${\beta}$-version could be accessed at http://210.218.196.115/SDT/login.jsp. The ISCD ${\beta}$-version consisted of 3 parts, for staffs, subject and oriental medical doctors. The system has been managed since February 2011. Currently 7 oriental hospitals have used the system and 1,439 subjects have been diagnosed by the system. 4. Conclusion and future work : Although many researchers have tried to develop a system or an algorithm for diagnosis of subject's constitution, we could have not used the system based on objective information of human body type, characters, symptoms. In this study, we describe a web application of objective diagnosis algorithm as ISCD ${\beta}$-version. This system may help an oriental medical doctors to make a decision of Sasang constitutional diagnosis easily and correctly.

        미병 특허 동향 조사

        Objective : The purpose of this study was to analyze for the patent application tendency in mibyeong. Mibyeong is a concept in Korean Medicine meaning sub-health state, and treatment of mibyeong can be understood as preventive medicine. This concept laid a foundation for the development of Korean, Japanese and Chinese traditional medicine. In this paper, we describe a meaningful data for efficient R&D through patent analysis of mibyeong focusing on the Korea, Japan and China. Method : We collected patents about mibyeong using Focust, IPDL search tools. We analyzed patents according to the year, topic, country and etc. Results & Conclusion : We collected 1,577 patents and selected 807 patents as useful patents. After detailed analysis on mibyeong patent, we got to know that research about mibyeong was a growing field. In the collected patents, the patents on treatment device(except treatment compositions) were the majority and system of providing information were the second largest. We think that the mibyeong field is growing at a fast pace with high activity, and this research should be updated annually.

        네트워크 분석을 통한 국내 변증 연구의 동향

        본 연구는 네트워크 분석을 통해 국내 ‘변증’ 연구의 동향을 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 분석은 년간 논문 수, 저널별 논문 수, 연구 분류별 논문 수 등을 살펴보았으며, 네트워크 분석은 키워드 쌍을 사용하여 수행하였다. OASIS(Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System) 시스템에서 검색한 810건의 논문 중에서 368건의 논문을 분석에 사용하였다. 결과적으로, 최근 10년간 변증 관련 논문은 증가하였으며, “Korean journal of oriental physiology & pathology” 저널과 “Journal of korean oriental internal medicine” 저널이 변증관련 가장 많은 논문을 출판하였다. 연구 분류별로 살펴보면, 단면연구가 144편으로 가장 많았고, 환자 사례보고가 71편이었다. 무작위임상시험의 경우에는 단지 3편의 논문만이 있었다. 변증연구에서는 troke, pattern analysis, blood stasis 키워드가 많이 주요 네트워크를 이루었다. This study aims to analyze Koreas trend of ‘pattern identification(PI)’ research using network analysis. We selected 368 papers from OASIS (Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System) by review of two Korean medicine experts. Network analysis between keyword of PI studies were performed. As a result, number of PI studies has increased over the last 10 years. Korean journal of oriental physiology and pathology and Journal of Korean oriental internal medicine have published most papers related to PI. As research category, there are 144 papers in the cross-sectional study, and 71 papers in case report study. In the case of randomized clinical trials, there are only 3 papers. In studies for PI, stroke, pattern analysis, and blood stasis were the keywords make up the main network.

        균일 격자 구조 탐색을 이용한 마이크로어레이 반점 주소 결정 알고리즘

        최근 마이크로어레이 실험기술의 개발로 인해서 생물학자들은 한꺼번에 수천 혹은 수만 개의 유전자 발현실험이 가능하게 되었다. 마이크로어레이를 이용한 유전자 발현 패턴 분석에 필요한 이미지의 분석 작업은 사용자의 많은 수작업이 필요하며, 올바른 결과를 얻기 위해서 많은 주의가 필요하다. 그러므로 사용자의 수작업을 최소화하고 정확한 발현결과를 얻기 위해서 마이크로어레이 이미지의 자동 분석 방법이 필요하다. 일반적으로 마이크로어레이 데이타는 반점(spot) 위치의 변동이나 모양, 크기가 고르지 않는 것과 같은 다양한 문제로 인하여 자동 분석이 어렵다. 특히 블록과 반점의 주소를 결정하는 것은 마이크로어레이 분석 중 어려운 단계이며, 대부분 상용 프로그램에서는 수작업을 통해서 해결하거나, 수작업이 필요한 반자동시스템을 이용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 균일 격자(regular grid) 구조 탐색을 이용하여 새로운 블록과 반점의 주소를 결정하는 알고리즘을 소개한다. 본 알고리즘에서는 입력된 반점들의 중심점을 이용하여, 균등 일직선 서열(equally spaced and collinear sequence)을 생성하고 이를 통하여 이미지의 기울기와 단위길이를 계산한다. 계산되어진 기울기와 단위길이를 이용하여 가상점을 허용한 균등 일직선 서열을 다시 생성하고, 이를 이용하여 마이크로어레이의 주소를 결정한다. 실험 결과 다양한 실험 데이타에 대하여 매우 안정적이며, 신뢰성이 높은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 본 알고리즘에 대한 자세한 정보는 http://jade.cs.pusan.ac.kr/~autogrid에 정리되어 있다. Microarray is a new technique for gene expression experiment, which has gained biologist's attention for recent years. This technology enables us to obtain hundreds and thousands of expression of gene or genotype at once using microarray. Since it requires manual work to analyze patterns of gene expression, we want to develop an effective and automated tools to analyze microarray image. However it is difficult to analyze DNA chip images automatically due to several problems such as the variation of spot position, the irregularity of spot shape and size, and sample contamination. Especially, one of the most difficult problems in microarray analysis is the block and spot addressing, which is performed by manual or semi automated work in all the commercial tools. In this paper we propose a new algorithm to address the position of spot and block using a new concept of regular structure grid searching. In our algorithm, first we construct maximal ε-regular sequences from the set of input points. Secondly we calculate the rotational angle and unit distance. Finally, we construct ε-regularity graph by allowing pseudo points and then we compute the spot/block address using this graph. Experiment results showed that our algorithm is highly robust and reliable. Supplement information is available on http://jade.cs.pusan.ac.kr/~autogrid.

        한의학 특허 동향 조사

        많은 연구자들이 그들의 연구영역의 선점을 위해 지적재산권을 확보하려고 노력하고 있다. 이에 따라 최근 연구 성과로서 특허의 비중이 커지고 있다. 많은 분야의 연구에서 특허권을 얻기 위한 노력들이 진행되고 있음에도 한의학연구 분야의 성과는 논문에 치우쳐져있다. 본 논문에서는, 한의학연구에서의 특허 동향을 살펴보기 위하여, 한국한의학연구원을 중심으로 한의학 분야의 특허들을 조사하였다. 검색된 국내 특허는 211건이며, 미국에서는 8건이며, 의료와 진단 분야의 특허에 치중되어 있었다. Many researchers are trying to acquire intellectual properties on the promising technologies for prior occupation in their area. For this, the number of patents as a result of researches is increasing. In spite of the tendency in research of oriental medicine, the results have been focused on research papers. In this paper, we have reported patents around the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine(KIOM) to find trends in patents in the field of oriental medicine. There are 211 Korea patents and 8 USA patents. Most of these patents are fouced on “medical” and “diagnosis” areas.
