이 논문은 사진과 죽음이 맺는 관계를 고찰하면서 매체로서의 사진이 가진 독특한 특성이 이 관계에 어떻게 영향을 미치고 있는지를 살펴보고 실제로 사진이 죽음을 재현하는 여러 방식들의 구체적 사례들을 분류, 분석함으로써 죽음을 재현하는 사진의 사회적 역할을 이해하는 기회를 제공하고자 한다. 조사 결과, 죽음 사진은 영정사진, 사후사진, 재해 및 전쟁사진, 처형사진, 의학과 법의학적 사진으로 구분되며 애도와 추모, 저항과 투쟁, 통치와 지배, 폭로와 고발의 역할을 한다. Photography is frequently associated with the death because it seems to remind us of our own mortality by representing the dead people. The indexical character of photography reinforces this association. Photography is used in many ceremonial activities and medias to represent death. Five types of death photography can be differentiated: funeral portrait, post-mortem photography, conflict and disaster photography, death penalty photography, anatomic and forensic photography. These death photographies serve for four individual and social purposes: mourning and remembrance, resistance and struggle, rule and domination, disclosure and accusation.

이 논문은 그레마스의 기호학 방법을 이용해 <겨울왕국>의 서사 분석을 한 기존 논문들의 오류를 지적하고 <겨울왕국>의 심층 의미를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 기존 연구들은 행위소 모델과 기호사각형에 대한 부정확한 이해를 바탕으로 잘못된 분석을 했다. 그레마스의 방법을 엄밀히 이용한다면 <겨울왕국>은 기존의 연구들에서 주장된 것과는 달리 엘사가 아닌 안나의 영웅 서사임이 드러난다. 서사구조 안에서 안나와 엘사는 서로 대립하는 요소들이기 때문에 안나의 성공은 사실상 엘사의 실패이다. 따라서 <겨울왕국>은 기존의 연구들에서 주장하듯이 남성 지배적 담론에 저항하는 독립적이고 능동적인 여성의 모습을 보여 줌으로써 젠더 재현에 있어서 전복적인 메시지를 전달하는 것이 아니다. <겨울왕국>은 가족 안에서의 사랑을 최고의 가치로 내세우고 공동체가 부여한 역할을 받아들이는 것이 최선이라고 말하면서 기존의 체제 순응적 이데올로기를 재생산하고 있다. The purpose of this study is to review and criticize the articles that analyzed Frozen by using the semiotic method of Greimas. The study also aims to apply the semiotic method of Greimas correctly to find the deep structure of the narrative of Frozen. The results of the narrative analysis based on the actantial model and the semiotic square show that Frozen is not Elsa’s heroic narrative but Anna’s one. Because Elsa and Anna are the opposing elements in this narrative, the success of Anna is the failure of Elsa. Frozen does not convey the subversive message about the gender roles by representing an independent and active woman who resists the patriarchal discourse. Instead, Frozen reproduces the conformist ideology by saying that love is the most valuable thing and that everyone should accept the role given to him/her by the community.

미디어를 통한 역사의 문화화: 뉴트로 현상의 수용 경험

이 연구는 세대 간 문화 현상이자 디지털 미디어 기술이 매개하는 문화 현상으로서의 뉴트로 현상이 가진 함의를 알아보고, 과거의 대중문화가 디지털 콘텐츠로 재매개된 후 수용자에 의해 다양한 방식으로 선별, 향유되며 각자의 삶 안에서 변용되어 표현되는 현상의 문화적 의의를 심층적으로 서술하고자 한다. 이를 위해 여러 연령대에 속한 수용자 인터뷰 작업을 진행하여, 각 연령대 구성원이 뉴트로 현상에 대해 갖는 인식 및 경험의 특성들을 해석했다. 뉴트로는 시간적 문화접변으로 이해될 수 있다. 일종의 문화접변 현상이 공간적 이동이 아닌 시간적 이동에 의해 발생할 수 있다. 시간적 문화접변을 가능하게 하는 중요한 요소는 디지털 동영상 플랫폼의 매개다. 뉴트로 현상에서는 디지털 미디어를 이용해 언제나 이용 가능한 데이터베이스로부터 과거의 미디어 콘텐츠를 적극적으로 소환하거나 비판하면서 동시대적인 문화와 담론으로 재창출하는 능동적 수용자의 역할이 발견된다. 뉴트로는 다양한 욕구, 경험, 기억을 가진 참여자들의 역학 관계 안에서 빠르게 변화하는 역동적 문화구성 과정의 결과라고 해석될 수 있다. This study aims to analyze the cultural meanings of the current enjoyment of past pop culture called Newtro. The interviews with people of different age groups were conducted to interpret the characteristics of the knowledge and experience of each member of the age group on Newtro phenomenon. In terms of this study, we propose that Newtro can be understood as a time-bound acculturation phenomenon. A sort of culture shock can arise when digital media users come into contact with material from the open-access archives of past pop culture. This experience can lead to cultural change. Digital video platforms like YouTube play an important role in this time-bound acculturation. Digital media users actively appreciate media content using open-access archives of past pop culture and transform it into new cultural content. Newtro can be understood as the result of dynamic cultural production by digital media users.

〈겨울왕국2〉에 나타난 젠더 재현의 문제 : 〈겨울왕국〉과의 서사구조 비교를 중심으로

이 연구는 <겨울왕국>과 <겨울왕국2>의 서사구조를 비교함으로써 <겨울왕국>에 비해 <겨울왕국2>가 젠더 재현의 문제와 관련해 어떤 변화를 보이는지를 알아보고 <겨울왕국2>의 젠더 재현이 가진 의미를 논의하기 위해 수행됐다. 이 연구는 그레마스의 서사 분석방법을 이용해 <겨울왕국>을 분석한 국내 연구와 동일한 방법으로 <겨울왕국2>의 서사를 분석한 후에 둘 사이의 차이를 비교하고 <겨울왕국2>의 젠더 재현의 특징을 분석했다. 분석 결과에 따르면, <겨울왕국2>는 <겨울왕국>에 비해 젠더 재현에서 진일보한 모습을 보여준다. 특히, 서사의 주제가 사랑에서 진실로 바뀜에 따라 낭만적 이성애를 중심으로 구성되는 디즈니 애니메이션의 전통적인 젠더 재현에서 벗어났고 엘사가 여성이란 젠더 안에 한정되거나 고립되지 않고 남성적 가치를 가진 행위를 수행하면서 젠더 고정관념을 파괴하는 모습이 나타난다. 게다가 <겨울왕국2>는 자연과 문명의 대립을 회복, 포용, 조화라는 여성적 가치를 통해 극복함으로써 여성적 가치가 사회를 구원하는 힘이 될 수 있다는 것을 보여준다. The purpose of this study is to show what changes are produced in Disney’s Frozen II in terms of gender representation by comparing the narrative structures of Frozen and Frozen II and to discuss the meaning of gender representation in Frozen II. Greimas’ narrative analysis method is applied to conduct the comparison. This study discovers the differences between the narrative structure of Frozen and Frozen II and highlights the characteristics of the gender representation in Frozen II . According to the results of the analysis, Frozen II shows a more advanced appearance in the gender representation than Frozen. Unlike the other Disney princess stories whose main theme is love, the main theme of this film is the truth. This means that the stereotypical representation of gender roles in Disney animated films centered on romantic heterosexual love is dismantled. Elsa is portrayed as an independent and assertive subject who wields her power productively. Women’s empowerment and agency are represented positively in Frozen II. Frozen II shows also that we can overcome the conflict between nature and civilization through feminine values such as connection, caring, generosity, cooperation, harmony. This idea can be understood as ecofeminist and environmental feminist.

이 연구는 현재의 디지털기술과 연결된 사진행위를 이해하기 위한 협업적 연구이며 동시에 자기민속지학 방법을 이용해 연구의 자기 치료적 효과와 지식의 권력관계를 엿볼 수 있는 기회도 제공한다. 두 연구자는 디지털 카메라, SNS, 스마트폰과 같은 디지털미디어를 이용하는 사진행위가 갖는 의미를 개인의 정체성 구성, 개인적 삶의 다큐멘터리 만들기라는 관점에서 접근했다. 그 결과, 디지털 사진을 다큐멘트가 아닌 아카이브로 볼 수 있으며 디지털 사진행위를 ANT의 관점에서 인간과 비인간 행위자들의 네트워크 형성과 변화의 과정이라고 이해할 수 있다는 것을 발견했다. The purpose of this study is to understand the social and cultural implication of the activities of taking ‘selfies’ and the use of Social Network Service(SNS)s through the personal story of a 20s female researcher. She analyzes her own digital photography activities based on the experience of the use of Cyworld photo albums for three years and the use of pictures in iPhone album for fifteen months. The other researcher(40s male) cooperates to answer the questions about how to understand the digital photography activities. We understand the digital photography activities including digital cameras, social network services and smart phones as acts of personal identity configuration and acts of making the personal documentary. As a result, digital photos are used more for archive purpose rather than for document purpose. Also, we found that the digital photography activities can be understood as the interactions between human and non-human actors in the perspective of Actor-Network Theory (ANT).
