We will approach the problem of identity transformation experienced by users on social media such as Twitter and Facebook during the candlelight vigils in 2016 in terms of performance study and analyze the political effects of the performative process via the concept of ‘affect’. To this end, the theoretical foundation is laid out in the first chapter. Exploring the usefulness of the performance approach to social media, this paper uses the concept of affect as an analytical lens to extract the political implications implied by the performances on social media. In the second chapter, the theoretical framework is applied to the actual case. First of all, the fake Choi Soon-sil Facebook account is dealt for how the theatrical subjunctive mood of can be performed on social media. The process of forming a live, co-present stage on Twitter or Facebook is examined. The stage can look like galleries where satirical paintings or writings are displayed, but promote social interaction of other followers by several other devices. Next, making up the process of ‘personal as political’ in social media such as “but, Choi Soon-sil?” hashtag movement is scrutinized. The movement is considered to have been the main driving force of the candlelight vigil movement. It was proposed by a broadcasting station PD in October 2016 and selected as the "noticed eyes of October" by the Korean Council of Churches in Korea that month. Based on the above case analysis, the final section concludes that the performance stage-building process of social media was the one that performed affect and the political implications of social media as a performance stage are explored. It can be assessed that the performance space of social media described in this paper was full of the intensity of the sensory energy contained by the affect. In reality during the candlelight vigils between 2016 and 2017, ordinary citizens were frustrated and angered by the incompetence of the failed government and the ruling party. This despair and anger had a conscious physiological nature, a trait of emotion. However, when they came to play fake Choi Soon-sil on social media networks, upload satirical paintings or writings or hold performances sharing hashtags, what users recognized was more than simply explained by feelings of despair, anger or pleasure. Online Personas of social media users were powerless enough to have to get vicarious satisfaction with fake Choi Soon-sil Facebook accounts, howver, their attitude was strong and determined at the moment when they attacked the fake Choi Soon-sil and accepted her forgiveness. The satirical images and texts they captured in despair and anger were a mixture of pleasures and lightness. The identity of the self created by the users in the hashtag movement mixed with sincerity and artificiality, so the body may have been bound by everyday or online private spaces, but the mind was directed toward the square, an offline public area. Perception of the body’s modulated senses, and perception of the affect, in this betweeness triggered by social media space is the main factor that has spread the passion for candles across the on- and off-line. Filled with random, continuous, waterfall-like, amorphous and nonlinear intensity, affect is fed up with a complex network of social media relationships that trigger rhizome relationships. The missing self image, reflected back from the Phallus symbolism’s signifier is deleted from the network space of social media. Freed from the law of minus in which deficiencies prevail, the law of adding and sharing content on social media constantly spread. It is the only law of addition online that constantly uploads, copies, transports and shares. So without the suppression of self-reduction into the general category of Phallus, social media users simply added multilayered, complex, heterogeneous, disproportionate and noncommensurable practices to each other’s SNS accounts, based solely on the law of addition. If the flow of active energy is the intensity of the senses or affect, then it is the intensity of the affect that have been constantly added to the spread and increase of differences that are driven out of the theatre of social media and performed for the politics of transformation.

This paper`s aim is to study the performativity of mobile phones as a locative media. Performivity means constraint and creativity of language under context of use. Portability and mobility is a hallmark of mobile phone under local context. Therefore, the concept of context focused performativity can be significantly used for the interpretation about mobile phone`s embodied communication. An abstract coordinate space is transformed into the concrete social-interactive place by the use of mobile phones while moving. In other words, the specificity and constraint of mobile phones is from its locative based and contextual sensitive characteristics. The usage contexts of mobile phones suggests how subjective`s conditions as moving between places display itself under a digital environments. Performance and performativity study have a deep relation with explaining the locative based and contextual sensitive characteristics of mobile phones, because they do research locally positioned communication from universal principles. Especially, considering bodies is moved according to the use of mobile phones while moving, we need to examine closely the performative embodiments that construct the specific place. Studying performative embodiment will help us to analyse social cultural discourse about mobile phone communication. As a result, this article includes discussion about mobile phone SNS(Social Network Service), mobile phone storytelling, mobile game with relation to locations, places, embodied experiences. This article will be organized by recontextualization concept, i.e. the process of constructing background that makes meanings and forms limitation in a different way with regards to previous foregrounding texts. First, synchronized and assynchronized communication of mobile SNS message are recontextualized whenever using mobile phones while moving. This paper will call it dancing with the mobile SNS, emphasize its embodied experiences according to place changes. Mobile phone storytelling generates user`s embodied experiences, for example, the embodying of an abstract historical past. Communal historical places are recontextualized by user`s ``flaneur(walking man)`` performing. Location based mobile games integrate real world into game world. Consequently, users narrativize constructing game world itself and become agent of newly recontexualized place producing. Prior studies have focused on certain aspects of mobile phone function such as phone call. Humanities approaches to mobile phone having been lacking. So, to study media characteristics of mobile phone as a locative meida from performance study perspectives will have a signification.
Vol.- No.15
This paper aims to develop a motion-based drama therapy program combined with a story for treating school violence. The target for the program is students in the lower grades of elementary school. To this end, the modern version of The Ugly Duckling - School Violence, adapted from Andersen s The Ugly Duckling, is employed. The story is introduced, reminding the current situation in which social bullying is emerging as a more serious social problem than physical violence. The fairy tale plot dealing with the alienated subject symbolized by the ugly duck can be a medium for participative students to cultivate effective interaction through spatial awareness and movement activities. First, the section of the theoretical framework and background deals with Spatial Turn and the types of space. Next, this paper relates how spatial awareness can be intervened in the group dynamics of the types of attackers, victims, and bystanders of violence. Based on this, the existing discussion of the dance movement therapy for school violence prevention program is reconstructed as a drama therapy program in conjunction with the group dynamics of The Ugly Duckling – School Violence. This discussion is meaningful by proposing a specific story-dance-motion integration-based drama therapy program, which can reduce aggression before it turns into destructive and violent behavior.

The performance and durability of Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells (PEFCs) are strongly influenced by the uniformity of current density, temperature, species distributions inside a cell In order to obtain uniform distributions in them, the optimal design of flowfield must be a key factor. In this paper, the numerical study of land/channel flowfield optimizations is performed, using a multi-dimensional, multi-phase, non-isothermal PEFC model. Numerical simulations reveal more uniform current density and HFR(High Frequency Resistance) distributions and thus better PEFC performance with narrower land/channel width where the less severe oxygen depletion effect near the land region and more uniform contact resistance variation along the in-plane direction are achieved. The present study elucidates detailed effects of land/channel width and assist in identifying optimal flow-field design strategies for the operation of PEFCs.

This article’s aim is to examine the aesthetics of queer performance ring under a new paradigm of queer turn and suggest the concept of ‘performance trouble’ for the politics of identification figured by the aesthetics. Queer can be defined as an umbrella term for abnormal sexuality, bodies and positions of desiring subjects. To the end, this paper deals with the works of the third Queer Theatre Festival such as The Salon of Freedom, Hongen Villa, one of the first Feminism Theatre Festival, Art Theatre of Miari Hill, and drag queen performance in transgender bar in Itaewon. The trend of queer studies attempts to eliminate the distintion between sex and gender, focus on sexuality, and foreground the unstable identification. Because of these points, it is different from feminism studies that emphasizes masculinity and feminity as categories of a historical analysis and understanding tool or gay-lesbian studies that stresses sexuality, nevertheless, pays attention to establishing the identification of homosexualist. In Queer Theatre Festival, queers become actors and audiences. They form their own solidarity community, stage their respective performances, and see the theatrical works together. They seem to build their own small exclusive community for the theatres. Therefore, in terms of aesthetics, the Festival seeks to perform outside belonging for those who could not belong to any territory of normal heterosexuality. However, Art Theatre of Miari Hill tries to describe that, in the world of regarding heterosexuality as normal, they could not have their own house where they dwell comfortably. They are here, at the same time, they momentarily haunt there as ghost. Hence, their bodies suffer from the loss of sense of direction, orientation, and place. The body of dragqueen is a man’s and woman’s body. His body spans from a reading body as a man’s body and a read body as a woman’s body. This drag body displays the unstability implicit in gender representation. In patriarchal system, it is very difficult for one man not to appear as a man. Also, for him not to do behaviors of manliness causes him many dangers. As a result, we can observe the aspects of a pitiable victim, resentful shaman and collapsed angel from the drag queen who wear female clothes, despite of the risks and damages. Gender trouble can be explained as a trial for questioning a solid identification conventionalized through heterosexual normativity. Thus, gender trouble links to that gender slips into queer, that is, to denaturalize the heterosexually repeated bodies’ styles via abnormal sexual practices. However, theatrical stages should be requested to complete another fortuitous aspects of this repetitive bodily practices in the historical accumulated situation. In sum, if gender trouble is queer practice, it is another name of performance trouble. relevant to theatrical behaviors. The deconstruction of gender identification with gender trouble, performance trouble does not mean to negate the politics of gender. Rather, the perspective of the deconstruction of identification triggers to establish the politics of gender practice, because ender trouble, performance trouble testify that our world consist of the flexible border that the familiar heterosexuality and the strange queer sexuality. Thus, the aesthetics of queer performance becomes the politics of it with dissensus tracing the redistribution of heterogeneous senses.

Today, the discourses of intermediality are very extensively defined, according to goals that various critical approaches, such as media study, literature study, sociology, cinema study, and art history, have. For example, a diversity of concepts like multimediality, pluralmediality, crossmediality, infra-mediality, media-convergence, hybridity, the special form of intertextuality, transformative intermediality, synthetic intermediality, discoursive intermediality, the intermediality of medial traverse, ontological intermediality, genealogical intermediality, remediation, are specifically used with respective characters and limitations in the discourses of intermediality. The flowering of intermediality discourses is concerned with discussion about the materiality, bodily experience, and new representation resulting from the medial perception. As Marshall McLuhan said, by changing the environment, media lets us perceive our body specific site. Because sensitive extension changes our thoughts, behavioral types, and how we perceive the world, the discussions of intermediality have much significance. So, this paper aims to think out the general model of intermediality as a critical category that concretely analyses a theatrical genre. An understanding of an media surely requires an understanding of the other media like the diologism of intertextuality. But communicative conventions of each media vary according to a special cultural environment. Therefore, a subject of theatrical intermediality is worthy of careful study in that it challenges established concepts of theater, expands a characteristic intermediality of theater, and contributes to deepening the discussions of intermediality. Theater constructs a meaning from multiple layered sign systems. On the other hand, theater de-semanticizes and re-semanticizes the meaning with bodily perception. And, theater must have performativity in mind, i.e., acceptive effecting on audiences. Intermediality among communicative channels, intermediality between actors` bodies and communicative channels` signifier, and intermedialtiy between actors` bodies and audiences` bodies, are inherent intermediality of theater. As a result, if media theory is fused together semiotics, phenomenology, and performance study, it is easy to discuss theatrical intermedialty. Considering this point, first, this paper theoretically discusses theatrical intermdiality, and suggests intermediality model in theater, and finally, examines its applicability through case study.

This paper attempts to analyze the aesthetics of digital dance that has evolved since the 1990s from all over the world, in terms of the concept of ``spatial turn``. To understand the space not as a container but as a dynamic process will provide a more sophisticated approach to consider the aesthetics of digital dance. Space of digital dance as `ever-becoming`` process will be examined by Deleuze``s philosophy. To begin with, this paper divides the spatial characteristics of the digital dance as virtual space, liquid architecture and network space, and then describes the dynamics of the digital dance spaces by employing Deleuze``s concepts, such as ``flow``, ``intensity`` and ``fold``. Rhizome-like entangled three spaces implement the nomadic, unlimited ``smooth space`` of the digital dance space. In other words, they create a territory of becoming in the digital dance space. The virtual space of the digital dance gives a birth to the space of flows mixing realistic bodies with virtual bodies. Liquid architecture produces intensity. It is a place of incident that transforms the body and space in a zone of continuous inside everted and outside inverted body-space. Here and there in the space of networks is superimposed as a counterpoint rather than replicating similar to his suit, thus creating a space of infinite differentiations with forming folders. As a result, the space of digital dance is not a container, but constantly deshaped, reshaping process itself that will be projected as an emergent events. This is ``spacing`` of making the flesh of a larger world, with the interaction between dancing body and space through the digital technology given as a component of the flesh of the being beyond the material sense. what is needed to analyze today``s theatre spaces, such as site-specific theatre, documentary drama, is a new space concept of productive, active condition itself on social signification. Since the space with the generative motif is revealed most clearly in the digital dance, this discussion can merit the theatrical practice to test the new performance space.

This paper`s aim is to reappropriate the understanding of Jacques Derrida`s De la grammatologie with a theatrical approach. So this paper will examine how Derrida`s deconstructive thinking provides implications for a boundary that two distinct theatrical existent modes, i.e. dramatic script and staging a play, define as themselves. This work is expected to have a special meaning for suggesting ecriture`s performative aspect and its significance. By studying theatrical textuality through deconstructive works about theatrical metaphysics, this paper will try to elucidating ecriture`s performativity. Therefore, the problematics which this paper cares deeply about are the limits of theatrical metaphysics. For example, they are the dramatist-based approach and director-based approach when theatrical practices happen. At this moment, the strategies which this paper sets up are to overturn language-body`s hierarchical relations that theartical discourse has repeated. To sum up, dramatic script and staging a play are mutual supplementary as a iterable relationship. As a result, this paper intends to investigate the iterability of theater, namely, differantial repetition, textual undecidebility, and citational semiosis, in which making is remaking, and representation is poiesis.
