청소년 자살의 심리적 과정 및 문제해결력과 사회적 지지의 보호효과

이 연구에서는 청소년들의 낮은 자아정체감이 어떤 심리적 경로를 통하여 자살생각에 도달하는지와 문제해결력과 사회적 지지가 부족한 경우에 청소년 자살을 촉발한다는 취약성-스트레스 모델에 근거하여 이들이 실제로 청소년 자살의 보호요인으로서 작용할 수 있는지를 확인해보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 부산과 경남에 소재한 5개 고등학교 25학급의 650명을 대상으로 하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이 연구의 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자아정체감이 우울을 통하여 간접적으로 청소년들의 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자아정체감과 우울이 인지적 와해를 통하여 간접적으로 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 우울이 자살생각에 미치는 부정적 영향을 문제해결력이 완화시키는 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 인지적 와해가 자살생각에 미치는 부정적 영향을 사회적 지지가 완화시키는 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구결과는 실증적 자료를 통하여 학교상담자들이 청소년의 자살행동에 어떻게 개입하는 것이 효과적인지에 대한 지침을 제공한 것으로 여겨진다. 즉 우울증상이 높은 것으로 진단된 청소년들의 경우에는 문제해결력을 높여주는 상담전략이, 인지적 와해 상태가 심한 청소년들의 경우에는 사회적 지지를 높여주는 상담전략이 자살예방과 치료에 효과적임을 의미한다. 결국 이 연구는 청소년의 우울과 자살 사고를 예방하기 위한 상담적 개입 방안 수립에 유용한 시사점을 줄 수 있을 것이다. This study investigates the types of psychological processes that lead the negative ego identity of adolescents to commit a suicide, and examines howsocial support and problem-solving ability could act as protective factors to an adolescent who is weak to stress. The data were drawn from 650 adolescents of 25 classes from 5 high schools in Busan, Masan, Changwon for the research. The results of this study are as followings. First low ego-identity indirectly influenced on suicidal ideation. Second, low ego-identity and depression indirectly influenced on suicidal ideation through cognitive deconstruction. Third, problem-solving ability moderated the relationship between depression and suicidal ideation and social support moderated the relationship between cognitive deconstruction and suicidal ideation. These results provide a guideline to school counselors on more effective ways to manage juvenile suicide by pragmatic evidences. Counseling which works towards improvingproblem-solving ability is needed to adolescents with high levels of depression and counseling which will promote social support is effective to adolescents with high level of cognitive deconstruction. In conclusion, this study contributes to establish counseling strategies for preventing juvenile depression and suicide.
