To improve lubricity, Zn-DTP and Mo-complex are used in lubricant as anti-wear additive and friction modifier each other. In this study, The effect of these additives (Zn-DTP and Mo-DTP) will be confirmed and evaluated by four kinds of test methods, Four-Ball E.P test, Four-Ball wear test, Falex Timken test and SRV test.

In this study, biodegradable base Li-greases were prepared by using Li-soap thickener and vegetable oils such as soybean oil, rapeseed oil, castor oil and synthetic ester. Also, EP-greases were formulated by blending base Li-greases, anti-wear additives, EP additives, anti-oxidants and corrosion inhibitor etc.. And EP-greases were characterized by analysing physical properties such as worked penetration, dropping point, 4-ball wear, extreme pressure, thermal properties etc. Biodegradability of base Li-greases and EP-greases were evaluated by CEC-L-33-A-93 method using several inoculums of domestic sewage treatment plant. As the results, biodegradability of vegetable oils were shown at the range of 97.1 to 98.4%. And biodegradability of base Li-greases and EP-greases were 86.2% ~ 89.3% and 83.4% ~ 90.0% which were lower value than those of vegetable oils due to effect of Li-soap thickener, respectively. Therefore, the EP-greases prepared in this study were easily biodegraded by microorgnism.

This report describes the adhesibility of the polyurea greases. Generally, Polyurea greases were divided into three classes, aliphatic, alicyclic, and aromatic, according to the differences of the terminal alkyl group. The adhesion properties of polyurea greases were tested with Adhesion Tester by In-house method.

The Four-Ball Tester has been widely used as a tool to charaterize lubricity for long time. In order to understand more acurate properties of lubricants, more test methods have been developed. Among the test methods, SRV test method was compared to Four-Ball Tester in this paper.

The metal-working industry is increasingly interested in synthetic metal-working fluids and coolants. Also, an environmental aspect of the treatment of used fluid is important. The excellent lubricating properties of PEG based ester have been recognized in the area such as hydraulic fluids and compressor lubricants. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the drilling properties of PEG based ester synthesized from PEG and several diacid against aluminums and copper by drilling machine. From the study, it was shown that there were some differences in the drilling properties depend on the structures of the PEG based ester.

여러 가지 지방산의 금속염을 제조하고 그들의 SEM 자료들을 확보하였다. 지방산, (decanoic, stearic and 12-hydroxystearic) 금속염의 조직형태는 지방산의 그것에 비하여 가지가 많은 실 모양 입자상임을 보여 주었다. 제조된 여러 지방산의 금속염 중에서 lithium 12-hyroxystearate(Li-HSA)의 조직형태가 그리이스의 혼합물에서 증주제로 사용하기에 적당한 그물구조와 비슷함을 보여 주었다. The metal salts of various fatty acids were prepared and their morphologies were examined under the scanning electron microscope. It was observed that the metalated fatty acids (decanoic, stearic and 12-hydroxystearic) have more branched thread-like clusters than the fatty acids themselves. Of all the metal salts of various fatty acids prepared, the lithium 12-hydroxystearate (Li-HSA) proves to be the most similar in morphology to the reticular structure that is known to be suitable for a proper thickener in grease formulation.
