Vol.8 No.5
Molybdenum phosphate(P/Mo = 0.6) has been synthesized with ammonium molybdate and phosphoric acid under aqueous solution. The kinetics of the ammoxidation of methylpyrazine over molybdenum phosphate catalyst was investigated with the variation of reaction temperature and partial pressure of methylpyrazine, oxygen and ammonia, respectively at atmospheric pressure. The catalytic activity was constant for 300hrs operation under our experimental conditions. Under the steady-state condition, the rate equation of methylpyrazine was shown as -r=kP_MPP_NH3 °P_02^γ(γ=2.2;1.3≤P_02(kPa)≤4). The apparent activation energy was 29.6㎉/㏖ below 623K. The main product obtained in the ammoxidation of methylpyrazine is cyanopyrazine whose selectivity was kept always over 90% regardless of conversion.

The catalytic applicability of various ionic liquids immobilized on different silica-supports such as amorphous, SBA, MCM and commercial silica for the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ and epoxides is reviewed in this work. The effects of different structures of supported ionic liquids and silica supports in the synthesis cyclic carbonate by the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ have been remarked. The studies revealed that ionic liquids possessing functional groups or metals exhibited increased catalytic performance towards cyclic carbonate synthesis. Moreover, the reusability of SSIL catalyst and mechanism for the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ were studied.

The synthesis of dimethyl carbonate by liquid phase oxidative carbonylation of methanol was studied under batch reaction system. Reaction factors such as effect on various metals, anion containing in copper catalyst, temperature, carbon monoxide and oxygen molar ratio and copper content were investigated. In particular CuCl2·2H2O showed the excellent of the methanol conversion 65.2%, DMC selectivity 96.6% reaction condition under 1.0 g, 150 °C, MeOH/CO/O2=0.2/0.215/0.05 (molar ratio). CuCl2 led to corrosion of the reactor. Thus, a new catalyst system using supports was investigated to resolve these corrosion problem. Influence on various supports were examined and copper catalyst supported on zeolite Y showed the most excellent activity on the formation of dimethyl carbonate. The amount of Fe dissolved during the reaction using ICP-AES (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer) was compared with catalysts, calcined Cu/zeolite Y showed the lower value below 5% than CuCl2-2H(2)O.

The chemical fixation of CO2 into cyclic carbonates is considered to be one of the most promising way to alleviate global warming and produce fine chemicals. In this work, the catalytic applicability of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as porous crystalline materials for the synthesis of five-membered cyclic carbonate from CO2 and epoxides was reviewed. In addition, we have briefly classified the materials based on their different structural features and compositions. The studies revealed that MOFs exhibited good catalytic performance towards cyclic carbonate synthesis because of the synergistic effect between the acid sites of MOFs and nucleophile. Moreover, the effect of structure of designed MOFs and mechanism for the cycloaddition of CO2 were suggested.
