The interoperability problem among different software applications has been regarded as one of main limitations preventing wide adoption of BIM. Based on the motivation, IFC based open BIM has internationally developed as a solution for the problem. However, despite much interest and effort, the open BIM technologies are rarely introduced to the construction industry and need more technical development for a practical application as well. This paper aims to develop a standard process and guideline for wide adoption of open BIM technologies. The paper has analyzed previous studies related to open BIM applications focusing on super-tall buildings, reviewed required technologies of open BIM, defined information environment such as IDM, MVD, and finally proposed a standard process and guideline using an open BIM application scenario. The proposed standard process and guideline can be expected to improve interoperability among BIM applications and quality of information.

A paradigm of AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industry has broadened facility lifecycle. Facility management has been becoming a more and more important area charging approximately 85% at the aspect of facility lifecycle cost. Recently, BIM technology has been applied to a facility management area. However, there are several limitations BIM to widely apply to the area. The main objective of this study is to develop a BIM based FMS. This study includes FMS function and process analysis, construction information classification system, database structure to integrate BIM and FMS data, data collection process and development of a BIM FMS program. Finally, the study proposes lessons learned; complements of relevant regulations and facility management system, change in owner and facility manager s mind of facility management, and comprehensive approach to integration between BIM and FMS for a future development.

This study aimed to establish a thermal performance database for various lightweight wood-frame house envelopes in order to increase the accuracy of insulation assessment and energy performance analysis for lightweight wood-frame buildings. The differences in energy and insulation performances were analyzed based on the thermal transmittance calculation method for composite walls. The linear thermal transmittance (Ψ), equivalent thermal transmittance (Ueq), and thermal conductivity of various composite walls for lightweight wood-frame houses were calculated. PHYSIBEL Trisco V.12 was used for the heat transfer analysis, and DesignBuilder V.3.4 was used for the energy performance analysis. The thermal transmittance in the case studies was compared with the heat transfer analysis, and the results confirmed a difference of 3.8%?22.7% for the thermal transmittance and a difference of 3.2%?12.1% for the heating energy. When heat transfer analysis was conducted for various configurations of the lightweight wood-frame house such as the stud spacing, stud thickness, stud placement, and presence of an airtight layer, the results showed a linear thermal transmittance (ψ) difference that was approximately 4.8 times depending on the wall configuration. The thermal conductivity (λ) of the inversion stud and insulation layer was 0.0433?0.0492 W/m·K, indicating a maximum of 11.9% on the stud interval of 406 mm (16 in) and 0.0404?0.0452 W/m·K indicating a maximum of 10.6% on the interval of 610 mm(24 in). With the database established in this study, the thermal performance of the composite walls in lightweight wood-frame houses can be calculated without a complex heat transfer analysis and can be used as basic data for the construction of eco-friendly low-energy wooden structures.

The purpose of this study is to establish the required information for automating BIM based surface condensation simulation evaluation of apartment housings. The existing surface condensation simulation evaluation method has the reliability issue caused by users" drawing process, direct input of property information, and evaluators" subjective opinions, and the inefficiency issue by repeated input process at the time of design change. If the required information for BIM based surface condensation simulation evaluation is entered into a heat transfer analysis program after automatic extraction and conversion, it is possible to guarantee transparency and accuracy of the evaluation process. Therefore, this study investigated the standards for surface condensation evaluation and analyzed the data type required for a heat transfer analysis program to establish the required information for condensation simulation analysis and DB in accordance with the standards. As a result, THERM and PHYSIBEL which are heat transfer analysis programs were able to classify the common information and special information required at the time of inputting material properties, an air cavity, and boundary conditions.

Temporal bone high resolution computed tomogram(TBHRCT)is a essential diagnostic tool in considering for cochlear implantation in patients with profound sensorineural hearing loss. This study was designed for an effort to provide and efficacy of TBHRCT in determination of inner ear malformations for the patients who have profound sensorineural hearing loss and to examine the relationships between TBHRCT findings and other preoperative evalutions for cochlear implantation in that patients. Authors examined 68 deaf patients to provide fundamental data for cochlear implantation. Inner ear abnormalities were founded in 13(19%) patients, among which 10(14.7%) patients had Mondini'dysplasia in which 5 patients were hypoplastic type and 5 patients were hydrops type. Other inner ear abnormalities were as follows : lateral semicircular canal hypoplasia ; internal auditory canal abnormality ; cochlear aqueduct widening ; vestibular aqueduct widening. No relationships were found between TBHRCT findings and other test results. : promontory test, K-WISC cognitive test etc.(Korean J Otolaryngol 39 : 8, 1996)
