This is a study to confirm the contact pressure distribution upon changes in horizontal force through finite element analysis of a flexible padder. When there is no horizontal force, the value of contact pressure in the center of the roller is greater than the value of contact pressure at the end of the roller. The results of this study showed that the flexible padder has the optimum value of horizontal force with uniform contact pressure distribution. Measuring the contact pressure in an actual flexible padder drive by using a prescale film, this study proved that the interpretation of finite element analysis reflects reality well. Importantly, the results of this study can be used for deciding the early settings of flexible padder horizontal force.

In this study, we developed a new measurement system which can be used for PCB manufacturing process. A thickness measurement data of module PCB is one of important specification from buyer. Because it could be made a big problem in a appliances such as Pc. So PCB maker need to check on all contact surface thickness and monitor their manufacturing process can be trusted. We had calibrated all sensors and measured reference two specimens. Measurement system can be provided high accuracy value, 4㎛ of repeatability, and we verified Guage R&R value as 3.97% which is shown a value of good enough to measure.

This paper presents thermodynamic analysis of a single stage 3-valve type pulse tube refrigerator(PTR). The behavior of a 3-valve type PTR is analyzed to find optimum operation conditions such as exhaust pressure(the pressure at the end of exhaust process). The valve characteristics is the key point of this analysis, and which is determined by measuring the pressure and temperature history. The analysis was performed to predict the pressure history, temperature distribution and cooling capacity of 3-valve type PTR. The results shows that the optimized performance is dependent upon the exhaust pressure, which will be different for operating conditions and PTR systems.

V-type high temperature Stirling engine which is a kind of high temperature difference model Stirling engine is manufactured and its characteristics are measured at some temperature differences. Pressure, displacer position and rotation speed are measured. Displacer position and rotation speed are detected by photo-sensor. The hot side of V -type high temperature Stirling engine is heated by electric heater. The cold side of V -type high temperature Stirling engine is cooled by the air.<br/> This result may be useful for further design and manufacture of Ringbom Stirling engine. Also, it would be used as an educational material for mechanical engineering students.

Conventional efficiencies of the adiabatic expansion process such as isentropic efficiency and polytropic efficiency can be explained as the special cases of exergetic efficiencies replacing the reference atmospheric temperature with temperatures which can be determined in the process itself. It enables to explain the meaning of the efficiencies more general and, to define other efficiency such as minimum isentropic efficiency by specifying proper reference temperatures.

The concept of the potential work is developed by considering the maximum possible net work which can be extracted from a composite system composed of two simple solid subsystems, and the interaction between these subsystems is analyzed with the concept of the potential work. The potential work is a state quantity (thermodynamic property) of a composite system and it represents the possibility of the spontaneous internal change of the composite system and it can be used as a convenient tool to analyze the irreversible thermodynamic processes.

In the present paper, the effect of a screen in a steam vent stack silencer on reduction of sound level was numerically and experimentally studied. The sound level was reduced up to 8% in dB unit as the result of addition of a screen in a silencer. The optimal configuration of a screen in a pilot scale silencer was decided.

The conventional model of the heat engine involves the inconsistency with the real engine that the power becomes to be zero at the maximum effectiveness condition. In order to improve this defect, a new model of the heat engine is proposed, in with the heat loss from the heat source is taken into account. In accordance with this model, both the power and effectiveness have their respective extremum with respect to operating conditions, and the effectiveness always becomes to be zero when the power is zero.
