A numerical analysis with a standard k-ε turbulence method is performed to analyze the flowfields in the housing of Roots blower with various rotor shapes. The relevent rotor profiles are derived by two different forms one is cycloidal, the another is polygonal. The governing equations for the two-dimensional, steady, turbulence, operational process in the housing are discretized by the control volume approach which insures the conservative characteristics to be satisfied in the calculation domain, and solved by a modified SIMPLE algorithm. Numerical results show that the effects of secondary flow on the leakage flow rate for the housing of polygonal rotor shape is smaller than that of cycloidal rotor form.
